The power that had surged through her only moments ago now pulsed faintly in her chest, lingering beneath her skin like embers waiting to be reignited.
Kade wiped the blood from his knuckles, his sharp gaze scanning their surroundings. He wasn’t satisfied yet. “They wouldn’t send just a handful,” he muttered. “This was a test.”
Alyssa swallowed hard. “A test?”
“They were sent to see what you could do,” Kade explained, stepping closer. “To gauge your strength. And you just gave them a hell of an answer.”
