“Who the hell are you guys and what is going on here? Where is Gina? Why are you chasing her?” “Too many questions at a time, kiddo. I said I am Ian and that is Pegg, my agent. I am a private detective working with Detroit Police Department to unravel a case.” “What case?” “How long have you known Gina?” “A couple of days.” “Can you be more précised please?” “It’s being twelve days.” “Hmmm…precisely since Halloween night, huh?” “Yes, why?” “Did you know her before then?” “No and may you tell me what is going on before the interrogation? You just chased her and acted like she was a criminal.” “We just chased her away and that is tantamount to saving your life.” “What?” “Yes, how did you meet her?” “That is the point. She was attacked and left to die in the hummock and I saved her life. We stuck since then.” “Hmmm..That is what she told you. Did she mention anything about her family or where she comes from?” “She is an orphan and ….” He paused. What if this monster looking guy was hired by her kinky uncle to find her? But she had escaped already. “She said she left home because she was avoiding some troubles and came down to Illinois that day.” “Great story she gave you. I am sorry that she lied to you.” “What?” “Gina is not an orphan and has being on the run for longer.” “She was with me for days and never tried to hurt me in anyway. Why do you say you saved my life?” “I am afraid that she is a werewolf and she has being killing people. If you help us, we would unravel why she was found in the hummock.” Liam chucked. “Werewolf?” he laughed. “Are you some kind of folk fare story teller? Now I know you are some sort of joker.” “I am not astonished at your reactions but if you are more cooperative, you will find out more. Have you not heard of the man who is reported to have died and waken up? It’s an internet sensation now after his parents reported to the police and it has gone viral.” Liam said nothing. He just realized that he was so engrossed in Gina he paid little attention to other things other than their sweet life. “Gina is behind it and now, she has a hard-disc that if left with them, mankind is in trouble. You, me, your parents; my wife and every human being is in deep s**t. Hope you see what is at stake? We have to stop this madness and we need you to help us.” This was a shocking revelation to Liam. The memories of the times they spent flashed across his mind and the sweetness, tenderness and kindness she displayed were so overwhelming he found it hard to believe but some facts slapped him on the face. The first night they met, there was a crashing sound before the emergence of the moans. That meant she was not there before then and may have crashed down there. If the crashing sound was her caused by her landing, how comes she was not fatally injured of had broken bones? Werewolves are said to have speedy healing powers. Was that the reason she said no hospital or police but just needed sleep? Was she healing all those while? She was perfectly okay by the next morning and it was astonishing and the only assumption he had was, she was just high and became sober after the sleep. She had lied to him! She left before Ian and his agent came close to her. She must have sensed them, or smelt them and ran away. She knew she was guilty. Damn! Was he dreaming? After he thought he found love. Which was worse? Was it the heartbreak from Sandra or the euphoria from Gina? He felt more pains this time. He had come to fall in love with Gina the way he had never done before and now this. He felt an emptiness creating an abyss of despair inside his heart, and sharp pains pricked periodically. “I need to leave.” Liam said. “I want to be alone for a while.” “We need your help.” Ian said. “What the hell do you want from me? Can’t you see that can’t help you and know nothing about her? I fell in love with her and for the first time saw a future with a girl. We accomplished a lot together in a few and she healed me but what happened now? She healed my heart to reap it open and shattered beyond repairs.” “I need you to calm down.” Ian tapped his shoulder and Liam felt the strength and weight in the hand. “You are certainly emotional right now and I understand that. She has a disc with her which we must get at all cost….” “I never saw a disc and don’t know what you are talking about.” Liam said impatiently. “Thank you.” He walked away briskly and got into his car. Ian watched him drive away and turned at Pegg. “We will see him again. Liam Crawford, University of Illinois and son of Professor Crawford of University of Chicago. Getting him is cushy. He seems not to know much right now so let’s see how we get her.” “Is Gina not the daughter of Alpha Graham?” Pegg asked. “That is not necessary right now. Let’s go back and send signals.” Meanwhile, Liam had gone home, picked his father’s pistol and drove to the hummock he had met Gina. Some things were beginning to add up. He hoped his memory was not failing him. It was dark and cold. He climbed the hill they had sat on that day before descending to the point he had found her. He moved to where he sat before he heard the crashing sound. He now tried to locate the location he felt was the source. She did not land at the point he found her but may have crawled up there. He moved to the place and began to use his flash drive to rummage through the place. He saw nothing. He moved a few yards away and just beneath a rock, he saw a hard drive and felt a bang in his heart. He could not understand why he did not give Ian an idea that he may find it at the point she had landed. He picked it and put it in the pocket of his jacket. He turned and began to climb up the hill in a hurry then stopped. He heard voices and hid. He saw the silhouettes three men who had just come had seems to be searching around. There was something strange about them. Liam touched the butt of his gun and tried to remain calm. He could not hear their conversations clearly and they said little to each other. He could not wait to find out who they were or what they were doing here. He had to leave. He made a move and he hit his led on a stone. The men paused and gave the direction a sharp glance. Liam squatted behind a rock and tried to be still, ignoring the pain he felt. “I smell something.” The first one said. “Let’s check it over. Daniel is desperate and he blames us.” “It was your fault.” Said the second one said. “I see how you look at her. Hips don’t lie but eyes do.” “I feel nothing for her! I am a professional!” The first one argued. “Crap! You could not get it off her and she disappeared.” Said the second one. “I was injured! A silver fork in my belly is not play asshol*” “Shut you two! We got to find it now.” Said the third one. “Don’t you ever doubt my professionalism again, Pato.” The first one said. “Or what, Junta?” Pato asked. “Or this…” Junta sent a straight punch unto Pato’s left eye. Pato fell back and hit his head on a rock. Liam saw a red light emerge from his eyes and realized it was a change of color. Pato howled and claws began to pop out of his hands while fur began to take over his skin. Liam gaped in fear and agitation as he witnessed a werewolf transformation. Junta howled and too and began to transform. Liam could not take it anymore. He was flummoxed and agitated with a thick wave of fear inside of him. He regretted coming down here. He should have told Ian and save himself from this. He sprang up and began to ascend the hill with a great speed. “Look!” The third one, Guvana said. “There is someone up there.” Their attention turned at Liam who was ascending the hill. There was a growl from Guvana who was transforming before they charged on Liam. “Oh my God!” Liam screamed.   ****     Daniel walked into the large compound where a short fat man dressed in black suit and stood before a helicopter. “Boris.” Daniel said with a stern face. “Danile. You look great.” “I don’t have time for bullshit. You messed up.” “ I told you she gave Guvana a fatal bite.” “I thought there were three of them. Guvana, Pato and Junta. I should have gotten the second bite. Where are they?” “Still looking for the disc.” Daniel got into the chopper and dropped his briefcase while Boris joined him. The pilot started the engine. “Any idea?” “She took it and they chased her on Halloween night. They had a serious brawl and she escaped. They traced her to the hummock but she was gone before they got there.” “It doesn’t make sense. Do you mean with all their speed, they could not get her before she left there?” “Daniel you don’t understand this thing. They chased her from Robinson Park and while they fought in human form, she ran into the woods and they transformed. Gina is a formidable and dangerous girl and a daughter of  Ken, one of the most dangerous alpha and rebels. It is rumored that Gina’s mother is a direct descendant of Anita, a primordial werewolf. Primordial werewolves are the strongest and the most powerful and only ten of them exist. “Are you saying she is untouchable?” “I am explaining why the three of them could not get her as easy as you thought and we did not know who she was until after the encounter. So we got a leak that she was found at the hummock. The boys are there now searching.” “Nonsense! What if she took it away?” “She was picked up by a guy who did not know who she was. He found her almost dead and took her home. She did not have it on him. Our source called us a few minutes ago to check the hummocks.” “Who is he?” “Pegg. He works with Ian but is on our side. We also have an ID of the guy who picked her though he knows nothing much for now but we will keep an eye on him. Don’t worry Daniel. I promise, we will get the hard-disc. Ian is digger and that means he is digging for us because he trusts Pegg.” Daniel closed his eyes as the journey to New Orlando begins. As he thought of what lay ahead, he forgot his worries and smiled. It’s been over a year and he was now eager. *******   Liam turned and saw three huge wolves charging at him. He screamed, “somebody, help! Help!” But he knew it was a futile attempt. Their speed was too much for him and even the though the distance was wide, he knew they would catch up with him before he got to the top of the hill.   He was right. Guvana was first to get to him and landed in front of him while Pato stopped behind him and Junta stopped running and walked majestically to join Pato. Liam was breathing hard and short of words. The wolves seemed to be enjoying the fear he displayed. Liam removed the hard-disc and raised it up. “If you want this, please have it and let me go.” He said. The low grunting they radiated scared him. He bent down as if about to drop the hard-disc then remembered Ian’s words; “Gina is behind it and now, she has a hard-disc that if left with them, mankind is in trouble. You, me, your parents; my wife and every human being is in deep s**t. Hope you see what is at stake? We have to stop this madness and we need you to help us.” He dug his hand into his pocket and brought out the gun. Guvana was first to notice this and made a rush at Liam with a shrill howl that pierced into the air of the night. Bang! Bang! Liam fired two straight shots that got Guvana down. The other wolves stepped back. Guvana was down panting and gasping while Liam pointed the gun at Pato and fired another shot. He got him on the leg and the wolf howled in pain. Junta moved and hid behind a rock. Liam realized that they did not like gun. He kept stepping backwards before he turned to run down the hill while he kept turning back. He almost got to his car when he saw the three wolves coming after him. The two wolves were healing and probably they were luring him to exhaust his bullets. Trouble!
