~ Hanging out with Friends ~
A couple of days have passed, and I found myself sitting in our favourite cosy cafe, surrounded by the familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the joyful chatter of my friends. It had been a while since we had hung out, and I cherished these moments of camaraderie. As we settled into our seats, a wave of nostalgia washed over me, and I couldn't help but smile at the warmth of friendship.
The laughter and the clinking of coffee cups we caught up on our experiences since the Luminis Eclipsis ceremony. In the midst of our conversation, I couldn't help but share the excitement bubbling within me. "You won't believe what I've been up to," I began, my eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "I've been having private lessons with Elder Calden."
"It's been amazing," I enthused, my eyes alight with the knowledge that I was on the verge of something extraordinary. "Calden has been teaching me about the elements. It's like unlocking a treasure trove of secrets."
"Private lessons with Calden?" Summer gasped, her eyes wide with surprise and admiration. "You're practically learning from a legend!"
Violet leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "What's he teaching you? Can you show us?"
I hesitated for a moment, a mix of pride and nervousness bubbling within me. "He's helping me understand the depths of my connection to the elements," I replied, my voice steady with newfound confidence. With a deep breath, I summoned the elements, my fingers dancing through the air, conjuring flames that flickered with intensity, water that flowed with grace, and air that whirled in intricate patterns. Each element obeyed my command, a testament to my growing mastery.
“That's impressive," Lily remarked, her eyes wide with awe, her admiration a balm to my insecurities.
Lief chimed in, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "It's amazing how you've managed to harness the elements so effortlessly."
I met his gaze, his unspoken words hanging between us. "I'm still learning," I said humbly, acknowledging the depth of the journey ahead. "There's so much more to explore and understand."
As the conversation flowed, Violet and Summer, ever inquisitive, steered the discussion toward their own experiences. They shared stories of their familiars, recounting moments of bonding, and the discovery of new powers. Each tale was woven with awe and wonder, our voices rising and falling like the ebb and flow of magic itself.
Amidst the chatter and laughter, Lief, ever observant, brought the conversation back to our private lessons with Elder Calden. "I'm curious about one thing, though," he said, his brow furrowed in contemplation.
"What?" Violet and Summer asked in unison, their curiosity mirrored in my own gaze.
"Why the secrecy?" Lief questioned, his eyes searching mine, brows furrowed in completion..
I hesitated for a moment, pondering Calden's cryptic words. "He believes I might be the key to something greater," I explained, my voice tinged with uncertainty. "Although I'm not entirely sure what that entails."
The cafe buzzed around us, but in that moment, our conversation became a sanctuary of shared dreams and boundless potential.
The focus shifted from my experiences to those of my friends. Each of them shared their own tales of bonding with their familiars and discovering their newfound powers since the Luminis Eclipsis ceremony.
As the conversation shifted, I turned my attention to my friends, eager to hear about their experiences with magic and their familiars since the coming of age ceremony.
"Seraph has this uncanny ability to create illusions so vivid, they seem almost real," Summer exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "We've been practising creating intricate illusions together, and it's fascinating how she brings my thoughts to life."
"Tempest and I have been exploring the skies during thunderstorms," chimed in,his voice filled with awe. "She harnesses the power of lightning with such grace. It's like watching nature itself come alive. We've been practising controlling lightning bolts and channelling their energy," his grin widening.
"Luna's abilities are mesmerising," Violet said, her gaze distant as she recalled their moments together. "She can lull creatures into a trance-like state, allowing me to communicate with them on a deeper level. I can also put creatures and others in a trance, but only for a short period of time."
Listening to their stories, I marvelled at the diverse talents of our familiars and the unique ways in which they complemented our magical abilities. Each of us had found a deep connection with our companions, forging bonds that went beyond mere partnership. We were a team, a group of individuals united by our shared journey into the mysteries of magic.
As the night wore on, we continued to exchange stories and experiences, our laughter and camaraderie filling the air. In that moment, surrounded by friends who understood the complexities of our magical paths, I felt a profound sense of gratitude. We were not just learning about the elements; we were discovering the true meaning of friendship, support, and the beauty of shared dreams.
In the quiet moments that followed our conversation, we sipped our coffee and savoured the warmth of our friendship. I was glad I took time to catch up.

I had just finished a hearty dinner when a soft knock resonated through the walls of my medium-sized, homey cottage. Surprised, I rose from my seat, the chair creaking slightly in my wake. As I opened the door, a messenger stood before me, holding an ornate envelope sealed with a wax emblem that shimmered with a hint of magic. His eyes, filled with curiosity, met mine as he extended the envelope toward me with a polite bow.
“This is for you, Miss Feriae,” he said, his voice carrying a certain weight, a touch of mystery. I accepted the envelope, my fingertips grazing the smooth surface. Intrigue and apprehension mingled within me, wondering who could be sending me a letter at this hour. "Uh, how did you know…" I began to ask, but before I could finish my question, I glanced up, and the messenger had vanished, leaving me in bewilderment.
"Okay," I murmured to myself, a sense of wonder and trepidation lingering in the air. With a slight shake of my head, I closed the door behind me, the evening breeze carrying a faint scent of blooming flowers.
The emblem on the seal, a crescent moon, gleamed in the dim light, a symbol often associated with enchantments and otherworldly gatherings. Intrigued, I carefully broke the seal and unfolded the parchment inside, my eyes tracing the elegant script that seemed to dance across the paper, imbued with an ethereal grace.
A shiver of excitement and curiosity coursed through me as I read the words.

My heart skipped a beat as I read the words. The Mating Ceremony, [formally known aka…] as it was called, was a legendary event, whispered about in hushed tones among sorcerers. It was a Ball, held only once in a blue moon, where those of age and those yet to find their mates would gather, their destinies intertwined by fate.
The idea of such an event was both exciting and nerve-wracking. I had always been introverted, a tomboy at heart, more comfortable in the company of my books and magical experiments than in a room filled with strangers. The thought of attending a Ball, let alone one as significant as the mating ceremony, sent shivers down my spine.
With trembling hands, I reached for the magical device on my table. My MiraStone, a small, crystalline object with intricate symbols etched into its surface. It was my lifeline to the outside world, a communication device that allowed me to connect with friends near and far. I tapped it, and its surface rippled with energy before projecting a holographic image of my friends, Lief and Summer Violet.
I hesitated for a moment, my mind racing with how to explain the invitation and the flurry of emotions it had stirred within me. Finally, I found my voice.
With a gentle touch, I activated the MiraStone, its surface shimmering to life with a soft glow. Their faces appeared in front of me, their smiles wide and infectious.
“Hey, Feriae!” Lief’s voice came through the device, his enthusiasm palpable.
Summer chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Guess what, Feriae?”
“We burst into fits of laughter before calming enough to at least breathe. “You first,” Summer said.
“Right,” taking a deep breath. “I received an invitation to the Mating Ceremony.”
The Mating Ceremony was a legendary event held once every decade, where creatures of all kinds gathered to find their soulmates. It was a tradition that had existed for centuries, and the stories surrounding it were filled with romance, intrigue, and a touch of magic.
There was a pause on their end, and then the silence was interrupted with squeals from both Summer and Violet. Lief chuckled softly, amused by their behaviour.
“Oh My Magic!” Summer exclaimed, clearly elated. “So did we.”
“Yeah, same here, I was actually going to call, but you beat me to it,” giggled Violet.
“Really,” breathing a sigh of relief, glad I won’t be attending the ball by myself. That’s if I decide to attend. I looked to Lief. “And you,” I asked.
“What about me?” he returned. “Did you get an invite?”
“Yup, I sure did.”
“Yay, we all got invited,” Summer cheered before bursting into peals of laughter. Summer seemed much more zealous than normal. “You’ve been having a bit of those [come up with a fantasy chocolate snake - fun name],” I said, raising an eyebrow. She gave a sheepish smile. “Maybe.” I chuckled softly.
Lief burst into laughter. “You? Going to a Ball? Now, that’s something I never thought I’d hear.”
“Ha ha,” mock laughing. My uncertainty was apparent.
Violet must have sensed my apprehension because she spoke up, her voice gentle. “Feriae, we know this is a big deal, and it might be out of your comfort zone. But it’s also a chance to experience something extraordinary, to step outside the boundaries of our everyday lives.”
Lief nodded in agreement. “I was just kidding earlier, you know that right.”
“Yeah, I know,” I replied.
“And don’t forget, you’re not alone in this. We’ll be right there with you, every step of the way.”
Their words were reassuring, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for friends who understood me so well. I knew that they would be my pillars of support as we embarked on this new adventure together.
“I’m not sure,” I said, biting my lips, a nervous habit. Summer Violet chimed in, her tone gentle. “Come on, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. You can’t just pass it up.”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “I know, but I’m not exactly the Ballroom type. I’m more comfortable with my spells and experiments.”
Lief grinned. “Think of it as a grand experiment, then. You might discover something about yourself you never knew.”
With a deep breath, I nodded, my unease giving way to curiosity. “Alright, I’ll do it. Let’s see what this Mating Ceremony is all about.”
Their cheers of excitement filled the room, and I couldn’t help but smile. The truth was, as much as I valued my solitude, there was a part of me that longed for something more, something beyond the pages of my journal and the quiet streets of our town.
As I deactivated the MiraStone, I couldn’t help but wonder how this unexpected invitation would disrupt my normal life and intrigue my sense of curiosity. Little did I know that it would lead to a series of events that would weave the threads of fate in ways I could never have imagined.
As I ended the call, I couldn’t help but feel a mixture of emotions. The invitation had disrupted my normal life, yes, but it had also intrigued me. It was a chance to step outside of my comfort zone and explore a world of magic, mystery, and, perhaps, romance.
With a deep breath, I turned to my journal, its pages waiting to capture the whirlwind of thoughts and emotions that had taken hold of me. I began to write, my words addressed to the one person who would understand my feelings the most – my mother.
“Dear Mom,” I wrote, “You won’t believe the adventure that has come my way. An invitation to the Mating Ceremony, a Ball that promises to change my life forever. I wish you were here to share in this moment, to guide me as you always did. I carry your wisdom in my heart, and I hope to make you proud. With love, Feriae.”
As I closed the journal, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of determination. The Mating Ceremony was a journey into the unknown, a chance to embrace the magic of life and love. With my friends by my side and my mother’s spirit in my heart, I was ready to step into this enchanting world and discover what destiny had in store for me.
