~ Familiar Bonds ~
Day Five
A sense of uncertainty hung in the air like a heavy shroud, wrapping around me as I sat in my room. The events of the previous night had left me in a bewildered state, my mind spinning with the weight of my newfound reality.
I found myself missing my family, the familiar warmth of their presence. The teasing banter, the laughter, their support and comfort. All of it.
In the midst of my longing, the soft chime of my magical communication device shattered the silence, jolting me back to the present.
I activated the MiraStone, and there, on the glowing surface, was my father’s concerned face. His warm, hazel eyes held a depth of understanding that came from years of shared moments and conversations.
“Hello, sweetheart,” he greeted me with a soft smile. “How are you feeling? How's everything on your end”
“Dad!” I exclaimed, genuinely surprised. “How did you know to call?”
“I had a feeling we should talk,” he replied mysteriously.
“Great timing,” I said, still amazed. “As far as I’m aware, you don’t have that kind of magic to see into the future or anything.”
Dad let out a low chuckle, a sound that always brought comfort to my uneasy heart. “I’m your father, Ri. So, what’s wrong?”
“I… i miss you all,” i admitted, my voice betraying me. A feeling homesickness washing over me.
His tone softened. “We miss you too plumpberry.” i held back tears. “Hows Eldris City treating you. Having fun i hope.”
I tried to muster a reassuring smile, but I knew my father too well. He could read my emotions like an open book. “I’m… I’m not entirely sure, Dad. theres so much happening, and…” i hesitated unsure of how to articulate the complexity of the situations, unable to put my emotions into words as they swirled around within me,
His brow furrowed slightly, and he leaned forward, his voice filled with gentle concern. “You can talk to me, Ri. I know something’s weighing on your mind.”
I took a deep breath, grateful for his unwavering support. “It’s just… everything happened so quickly, Dad. I mean, there are four of them, and they’re all so different, and I… I don’t know what to do.”
My words tumbled out in a jumble of anxiety and confusion, and I could feel myself rambling. My father, ever patient, held up a hand and chuckled softly.
“Slow down, sweetheart,” he said, his amusement evident. “Take a deep breath and start from the beginning.”
I took his advice and recounted the events of the previous night, from the moment I had arrived at the Ball to the shock of discovering that I had more than one mate, the whispers I heard, and the mysterious prophecy that had been spoken to me. My father listened attentively, his expression thoughtful.
When I finished, there was a moment of silence as he mulled over my words. Then, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he broke the quiet.
“Well, Ri,” he said, a hint of teasing in his tone, “I think the only reasonable solution is to marry all of them.”
I couldn’t help but give him a pointed look. “Dad, I’m serious. I could do with your advice.”
He chuckled again, his expression softening. “I know, sweetheart. I’m just trying to lighten the mood. But in all seriousness, your mother was always better at matters of the heart.”
A pang of sadness washed over me at the mention of my mother, who had passed away when I was young. She had indeed been a source of wisdom and guidance, and I had always felt her absence keenly, especially in moments like this.
“Look at you all grown up. Facing challenges is part of life sweetheart.”
“I know…”
“If all comes to worst; like said already, you could have them all.”
“Besides, arent you suppose to be the overprotectie dad who doesn’t allow any man to come close to hus precious daughter.”
My brother popped into screen, no doubt overing our conversation, and being the annoying big brother he is, couldnt resists commenting. “Whats this i hear, Ri Ri’s in a love predicament. Sucks to be you,” he teased, his voice carrying a playful tone.
“No one asked you,” i retorted, a smile playing on my lips. He's such a big ouph, but I love him nonetheless.
Dad laughed, used to our sibling squabbles. “Looks like the whole family is involved in this now.”
“Dad,” I groaned.
“Sorry plumpberry.”
“You're stressing over nothing. Relax sis. I'm sure you'll figure it out.”
“Your brothers are right, surprisingly.”
“Hey, I heard that.”
My father continued, his voice gentle and reassuring. “But you, Ri, you’re the author of your own story. You have a rare and powerful gift, and your heart will guide you in the right direction. Whether you want to fulfill this prophecy or not, it’s up to you. Trust yourself, and don’t be afraid to follow your instincts.”
I took a moment to absorb his words, feeling the weight of his wisdom and the depth of his love. “Do you remember what you always used to tell me?”
“I remember,” he said, his eyes twinkling with affection.
He smiled warmly. “Follow your heart, and use your head,” we said in unison.
“That’s it,” he replied. “I’m always here if you need me.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
We ended our call, a sense of reassurance and clarity filling the void that uncertainty had left. His unwavering support had a way of grounding me, and I knew that no matter what lay ahead, I had his guidance to rely on.
