Chapter 1 - Entrance Exam (Epilogue) ​​​​​​​The clock was ticking, it's one minute below in turning 6:00 a.m. as the sixty-second count comes to an end minute hand jumps one minute turning 6’ clock in the morning the alarms start ringing. Mikki jumped from his bed due to the terror caused by the alarms. All three alarms begin to ring simultaneously, the alarm clock, mobile, and his watch as he landed with his butt surging from the pain from his butt to his head. Mikki started to look in all directions for the sources of sound but got confused. Later he was able to identify, and he began to wonder why he set three alarms in the first place as his head started feeling heavy due to lack of sleep, which hinted that he was studying for the entrance exam for his high school he slept late at night, so he understood that one alarm is not enough for him to wake up, so he decided to place multiple alarm at different directions.

He got up from the floor, yawning and stretching his arm like a cat after sleep. Later went to splash some water on his face, then he went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and started drinking water one zip at a time while sitting. Later returned to his room and opened the curtain he was amazed when he looked through the window, all Mikki could see was white colour covering the whole street and white raindrops coming from the sky which is much slower than ordinary raindrops it was snowing it was a sight to be seen for a second there, Mikki was happy to see the snow but turned to despair as Mikki understood he wouldn’t be able to bike his way for attending the entrance exam, so he needs to find another way.

He came to his room hoping to do his workout, but now he must change the schedule due to snow. He had to leave the house before his planned time so he decided to skip his usual exercise, took a shower, and then started preparing for his breakfast bread, toast, and scrambled eggs. He always eats a lot more than an average person for making his body stronger as he was not blessed with a strong body. He took ten eggs and ten breads, five of them toasted and the rest regular bread. He reached up for the jar to the mixer, putting in avocado, dry fruits like almonds, dates, and cashews, followed by frozen fruits, sugar, and milk that Mikki took from the freezer. He mixed them by using a mixer, made them into juice, and poured them into a glass. While having the food, he played the tv and put on the news channel he was concentrating on his breakfast, some words from the news caught his attention the information regarding the serial killer, who terrorized the city for ten whole years, has finally been caught. He was glad upon hearing those words thinking now every person can walk peacefully during the night.

He looked at the watch, and it was getting late. So, he grabbed his shoe, winter jacket, scarf, and umbrella he locked the front door and started walking to the bus stop. He usually uses his bicycle for traveling with advantages: it will help him get to the destination, burn the extra calories, and increase his muscle strength. So after reaching the bus stop, he waited around for ten minutes and took the bus to the metro.

He was lucky enough to get the window seat looking through the window, he could see many happy faces and sad faces. The sole reason for that is the snow he could see fewer adults as snowing makes it hard for people to get up from bed. Most of the adults seem busy clearing out the snow from their yards. Some of the elderly people were enjoying a cup of hot tea sitting in front of their houses. He could see many children playing with the snow for them, snowing is like heaven as they were happy they were smiling, screaming, and playing. Both boys and girls were playing snowball fights, and some of the children were busy making a snowman, he was doing all this when he was smaller. While he was busy looking through the window, time started moving very fast, and the bus reached the metro before he knew it.

He took a ticket to the metro train and got in. He looked around, most of the people were his age, and they were busy stuffing their faces in the book, so he suspected they were going for the entrance exam like him, he was able to find a seat barely. He sat on the seat now he must wait for five stops to get to his destiNation after the train passed two stations, a lady who was pretty got on the train and he noticed the big belly, so he suspects her of being pregnant. She looked around for a seat which she wasn’t able to find. He waited for some time if someone is offering their seat so he could sit in his seat without offering his seat, but no one bothered grownups ignored, and people who were his age were busy studying. So, he stood up and asked her to sit on his spot. She thanked him, he was unhappy to lose the seat, but masked his face with a happy smiling face. After some time, the train reached the destination he got up from the train and looked at his watch and was happy he decided to walk to the entrance exam centre as he got plenty of time to get there after half an hour, he reached the high school where the entrance exam is conducted. He entered the building as he walked further deep, it was getting noisier. He joined the hall where he could see many students looking in the book, group discussion and some of them were playing in the hall that seemed more like a market than an exam centre.

While he was having a tour at the school, he heard a voice calling him “Mikki… Mikki”.

He looked all around, surprisingly a hand grabbed his back he turned around to look at the person it was his best friend, Rex Milton. He was Mikki’s best friend since childhood he is more like his brother than a friend they were inseparable, and it hasn’t changed much. They do everything together, whether it’s eating, crime, and all other activities they do it together.

“What are you doing here, Mikki?” Rex asked.

“What kind of a stupid question is that? obviously, why are you here?” Mikki replied with another question.

“To write the exam,” Rex replied.

“Now you know why I am here too, right?” Mikki answered.

He showed him the thumb's up, which made Mikki angry.

“See, this is the problem with You Rex, you never think anything beforehand you always let your instinct and stupidity take control of you I am warning you that will get you into trouble,” Mikki roared.

Rex gave him the puppy’s eye, the eye pups make when they are shouted at. What makes him different from everyone else , putting the stupidity aside, is that he was blessed with a strong body and good reflexes. He is the only person that Mikki couldn’t beat in a fight from the dojo. However, his stupidity and animal-like instinct make him hard to predict, and prediction is the one where Mikki is good at. After some chit-chat, they decided to tour the school together as this might be the school they will be going in the mere future. The time for the exam neared fast. They had different classes for the entrance exam.

Mikki was well prepared for the exam. He looked for his allocated space for the exam, and he looked at his adjacent seat a girl was sitting next to him.

He looked at the girl she was well dressed, but the cloth was kind of cheap she wore a big-sized spectacle, he could see her makeup was all over her face, and the hair looked messier. She didn’t take the time to comb her hair. So he started saying in his mind that he will never date or fell in love with a girl like this.

The bell rang the test was about to start, the invigilator started handing down the paper for the test and eventually everyone started to scribble answers on the test sheet.

Time flew like a jet in this case, and the bell rang, and the test concluded. He was forced to stop the test, and he walked outside with an angry face near the entrance Rex was waiting for him. Rex was planning to tell him a joke, but seeing Mikki’s face, his instinct screamed, it’s a bad idea. Rex went to him. He ignored Rex, which made Rex unhappy, Rex patted Mikki’s back with great force, which was painful. He immediately came back to his senses Rex was standing at his side he didn’t know how he reached the entrance. His body just moved without thinking. He started explaining why he was angry that he could only attend only half of the questions. It’s the fault of a girl who sat next to him she was constantly irritating him, asking the answer to the question.

“Did you happened to help her?” Rex interrupted with a question.

“Yes, I did,” Mikki replied.

“It was not a problem at first, after some time she constantly irritated me for the answer which I was forced to give if I didn’t the invigilator will catch us both due to the fact, she was attracting a lot of attention, I didn’t get time to attend my remaining question after extracting all the answer for her question she practically ditched me and gave the test paper ten minutes before the test concluded,” Mikki said by gritting his teeth.

“Mm…mmm,” Rex murmured.

“Forget about it, what about your exam Rex?” Mikki asked.

“Mm… it was a total disaster looking at the question paper I completed freeze for some time by looking at the question it was as if I have all this ingredient at my side, but I don’t know the recipe for making the dish they asked, those ingredients was practically begged me for turning them to a perfect product, but all I could do is stare at them, and they did the same they stared back at me, but later I realized something I don’t need a recipe I could make my own dish right so I ignored the question and concentrated on answer” Rex explained.

“What do you mean by concentrating on the answer without looking at the question ?” Mikki interrupted.

“I mean, looking at the question which I don’t know will only make it worse all I have to do is write what I learned right even if the answer is not for the question?” Rex said by turning his face away.

“Without looking at the question, how can you find the correct answer?” Mikki was angry.

“They asked questions they like, and I wrote the answer I like, what's the problem here” Rex replied with a proud face.

Hearing this, Mikki kept his hand on his head, looked at him disappointedly, and asked him a question.

“You know that they are the game masters, you can’t go against them; they will be the one who makes the rule, and we are the players, so we can’t do what we think is right, we have to follow the rule they created, you know that is how we play games right”.

“We could cheat by hacking” Rex commented.

“You know hackers are geniuses, they use the loop hole and exploit them did you find any loophole for you to exploit?”Mikki explained.

Rex looked down so Mikki could understand that he had given up on the conversation.

“What were you doing during your study time?” Mikki scolded.

“I studied during my study time, but there was a problem I will always sleep in front of the book, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I immediately fall asleep looking at the book it’s not my fault I practically could not understand a single thing what the book is saying” he replied with a smile.

“To sum it up you slept during your study time” Mikki made it simpler.

“Yep, that’s exactly what happened?” Rex replied.

Usually, he would never survive school, Rex should have failed in middle school. The group study was the sole reason he survived that big mountain. But for the entrance exam, they couldn’t study together. Mikki was six months older than Rex they lived in an orphanage as he was the first to turn the necessary age to live alone, he was kicked out of the orphanage during his birthday when he turned the necessary age. They kicked him out of the orphanage with a smiling face, they warned him not to come back to the orphanage again, and Mikki was restricted even to give the orphanage a visit. He can’t blame them as he was the source of the troublemaking at the orphanage. So, Rex was all by himself, Mikki couldn’t keep in touch with him for the past month, so they didn’t do the usual group study.

Even though he did any foolish thing, Mikki doesn’t have to be afraid of Rex’s problem he always survives almost every hurdle, he got the luck of the devil. He was very good at gambling he never uses any strategy for the game, and still he wins almost all the time. When he looked at Rex’s face, he was making a happy face. Mikki asked why, he explained that today is the day he will also be kicked out of the orphanage. Now that he doesn’t have a place to live, he could come and live with Mikki, which is why he looked so happy.

That made his memory rewind when he was moving out of the orphanage to his home Rex was so gloomy and sad, so he comforted Rex by telling him to come and stay in his house when he will be moving out of the orphanage. He did not have a place to stay that made him so happy.

He asked Mikki to come to the orphanage to move his stuff to Mikki’s home. All this made him happy he was smiling a lot, Mikki is also delighted too as he did not like to live in a big house all by himself.

“We have to skip the dojo for today?”Mikki murmured .

“Yeah…. Yeah,” Rex shouted out of happiness.

They started walking to the orphanage together.
