I barely slept.
The room I was given was bigger than my entire house back home, yet I felt more restless than ever.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face.
Adrian.
The way he looked at me.
The way he spoke.
The way he said those words—
You shouldn’t belong to him.
My chest tightened.
Nothing about this situation made sense.
And yet… I was still here.
In his house.
Under his control.
Morning came too quickly.
A soft knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts.
“Miss, your breakfast is ready,” a maid said gently.
I hesitated before responding. “Okay… I’ll be there.”
Taking a deep breath, I got out of bed and followed her downstairs.
The dining area was just as grand as everything else in the house.
But what caught my attention immediately—
Was him.
Adrian sat at the head of the table, dressed sharply, completely composed as if last night had meant nothing to him.
Like bringing me here was just another normal decision.
“Sit,” he said without looking up.
I obeyed quietly, sitting across from him.
The silence between us returned.
But this time, it felt different.
More… intense.
“Did you sleep well?” he asked suddenly.
“A little,” I admitted.
He nodded slightly, taking a sip of his coffee.
“You’ll get used to it.”
Get used to it?
The words lingered in my mind.
Before I could respond, footsteps echoed from the hallway.
I turned—
And froze.
A woman walked in.
Elegant. Beautiful. Confident.
The kind of woman who looked like she belonged in this world.
Unlike me.
“Adrian,” she said smoothly, her voice filled with familiarity.
He didn’t react much.
Just a brief glance.
“You’re early,” he said.
“I missed you,” she replied with a soft smile.
Something twisted in my chest.
I didn’t understand why.
I barely knew him.
So why did it bother me?
Her eyes finally landed on me.
And instantly—
Her smile faded.
“Who is she?” she asked, her tone no longer sweet.
Silence filled the room.
I felt suddenly out of place.
Like I shouldn’t be here.
Like I was intruding.
“She’s staying here,” Adrian said calmly.
Her brows furrowed. “Staying?”
“Yes.”
That was it.
No explanation.
No details.
Just that.
Her gaze sharpened as she looked at me again.
“Since when do you bring strangers into your house?” she asked, clearly displeased.
Adrian set his cup down slowly.
The soft sound echoed louder than it should have.
“She’s not a stranger,” he said.
My heart skipped.
The woman laughed lightly, but there was no humor in it.
“Then what is she?”
For a moment—
Adrian said nothing.
Then, without warning, he stood up.
And walked toward me.
My breath caught as he stopped right beside my chair.
Close.
Too close.
Before I could react—
His hand rested lightly on the back of my chair.
A silent claim.
A clear statement.
When he spoke, his voice was calm.
But final.
“She’s mine.”
Everything went still.
My heart stopped.
The woman’s expression changed instantly.
Shock.
Disbelief.
Anger.
“Excuse me?” she said sharply.
But Adrian didn’t look at her.
His eyes were on me.
Only me.
“Eat your breakfast,” he said softly.
As if nothing had just happened.
As if he hadn’t just turned my entire world upside down with two words.
My fingers tightened around the table.
I couldn’t think.
Couldn’t speak.
All I knew was—
Everything had changed.
Again.
And this time…
There was no going back.
