Escape

“ Angel, let's escape,” Hazel finally said in an emotion laden voice, millions of emotions were swirling in her eyes, her eyes clouded over. “ Alright, we will,” Angela said and heaved a sigh of relief at hearing her finally talk. “ Can't we do that now,” Hazel asked, obviously not wanting to spend another minute here. “ No Haze, we have to plan, else if we try escaping now, we will get caught,” Angela said, as she looked at Hazel whose head was dropped her hair covering her face. “ Hazel,” Angela called and Hazel looked up. “ You can cry on my shoulder,” Angela said sympathetically. “ It hurts,” Hazel said as she threw her arms over Angela's shoulder and pulled her into a tight hug. “ It hurts,” she said, wailing painfully, her sobbing heart wrenching. “ It's okay, you are fine,” Angela said, patting her back calmly, Angela's eyes glossed over, but she blinked back the unshed tears. “ It's okay, you are really fine now,” Angela whispered in a soothing voice to her, patting her back calmly until she slept off. Angela gently laid her on the bed and gave her a peck on the forehead before she moved to her bed. She closed her eyes and placed her arms over eyes lost in thought. “ Good morning, Haze,” Angela said, greeting Hazel groggily. “ Morning,” Hazel replied, her voice choked. “ You woke up really early today,” Angela said, chuckling lightly trying to lighten up the mood. “ I couldn't sleep, Angel,” Hazel said. “ Why?” She asked. “ I keep having nightmares, he kept appearing to me in my dreams laughing at me,” Hazel said, her head hung low. “ Hazel,” Angela called, moving closer to her and gently touching her arm. Hazel looked up at her. “ You really need to overcome your fear of him,” Angela admonished. “ Hm, but-” Hazel started but was cut short by Angela. “ No buts Haze, promise me you are going to work on your fear, most times what we fear is what ends up happening to us,” Angela admonished gently, kindly patting Hazel on the head. “ Ok,” Hazel replied and bobbed her head twice. “ That's my Haze,” Angela said and flashed Hazel a pretty smile. “ But can we move quickly?” Hazel asked softly. “ In three days time, Liam will be celebrating his birthday, and a banquet will be thrown for him, we will make our escape when everywhere is crowded and we won't be noticed missing till we have gone far,” Angela analysed to Hazel. “ Ok,” Hazel replied, her spirit lifting as she made her way into the bathroom. *** The past three days were very hard for Hazel and Angela. After Liam's return from his grooming as an alpha journey, he made life even harder for Hazel who also detested him but had to keep up with him so as to not foil their escape plan. “ Hazel, make sure you don't lose sight of me and once you see me make the signal, be down here in the room,” Angela chastised Hazel. Their signal is that when Angela passes right beside Hazel she should make her way down to the room. She smoothened the crease on Hazel's clothes and adjusted her bow, today since there is a banquet they were made to wear a different uniform from the one they were made to wear before. “ Okay, Angel,” Hazel replied lightly. “ Good,” Angela said as she placed her hand on Hazel's head and smiled at her. The bell went off earlier than usual since there are still some arrangements to make. The Omega girls filed out, all in their uniform looking sparkly. “ Let's go,” Angela said to Hazel. Hazel took a deep breath and they stepped out of the room. “ Follow me,” Madam Harper ordered after taking the roll call. The Omegas all followed her in a straight line and she led all of them to the hall which still needs some touches of design. The hall looked breathtaking, three huge chandeliers hung from the ceiling and the hall was beautified till it glittered. The Omegas quickly get to work as they start putting things in place on the order of Madam Harper, they are careful not to dirty their clothes. Since the party is nighttime, Hazel and Angela will be escaping by night which is a perfect advantage for them as the darkness will be able to hide their trail. The Omegas quickly put the finishing touches, when Luna made her presence known, the Omegas along with Madam Harper bowed and paid their respects to her. She looked around the ball room not saying anything and then left. “ Good work, girls,” Madam Harper said as the Omegas brought the appetiser to the table. After they were done arranging the ball room, Madam Harper gave them a few minutes break and they all made their way to the resting room. Angela keeps making eye contact with Hazel so as to keep her on her toes. “ You are all summoned,” a guard came to call the Omegas and led them to where Madam Harper was waiting for them. “ Today you all shall act like a professional waiter, and please don't pick a fight with any of the visitors as all of them are esteemed guests,” Madam Harper informed them, her eyes quickly running a quick x-ray on them to be sure they all well kempt “ Do you all understand?” she asked. “ Yes ma,” they chorused. Madam Harper led them to the kitchen where they were all made to keep a tray of drink and was sent to give to the guests in the ballroom that was getting crowded with people. Most of Hazel's mind was not with them in the ballroom but with Angela, her eyes followed Hazel wherever she went and she made sure she did not lose sight of her. “ And then with our standing and clapping ovation let's all welcome the celebrant to cut his cake,” the MC announced. Immediately the announcement was made, Hazel felt a presence beside her and she saw Angela pass by her, her eyes widened slightly as she made her way after her subtly, to not gather attention. Hazel dropped the tray she was putting on the table and made her way outside only to be cornered by another Omega who looked at her weirdly. “ Where to?” She asked “ Res-ss-t roo-mm,” Hazel stammered out. “ Ok,” the Omega said, still looking at her weirdly before letting her leave. Hazel ran all the way to their room making sure to avoid everybody on her way. She got to the room breathless, she quickly opened the door and entered. “ You are late,”Angela said, obviously displeased. She was already dressed up in the outfits they wore to spy on Liam. “ Sorry,” Haze muttered. Angela handed Hazel her set of outfit and the night glasses, Hazel quickly put on the outfit. Angela threw one of the Luggage beside her at Hazel, who caught it and gently held it in her hand. “ Let's go,”Angela said as she held the door open, Hazel took a last look at the room that housed her for four years and followed Angela out, blinking back her tears. They steadily made their way out of the mansion avoiding guards here and there till they reached the forest. The night glasses they were putting on enhanced their vision and they were able to see more clearly. They ran through the dense forest pausing to rest a little before continuing on their journey, breathing very hard. They made their way to the pack border, there was only a thin line separating them from their freedom. “ Who is there?” A guard’s voice called out right in front of them and they both froze in fear as he brought out torchlight and shone it on their face, scaring the daylight out of them. “ Are you both trying to escape?” He asked, laughing at them in contempt and brought out two handcuffs. Tears welled up in Hazel's eyes at the reality of smelling freedom but being unable to taste it.
