James didn’t know how to take the sudden change. She’d been a little defensive, now she was inviting him in for food. It took a moment for his brain to catch up, because even though he’d gotten a full night’s sleep, it had been his first in nearly a week and one night wasn’t going to fix everything. He stood to follow her inside, noticing the sway of her hips in the worn denim as she went ahead. If he was still a little foggy after a full night’s sleep, how foggy did she have to be without one?
