Ally waited for her alarm to go off. She lay staring into the darkness for the third morning in a row. She hadn’t been able to sleep more than a couple hours a night since James had left. She didn’t understand it. It wasn’t like she’d spent even one night beside him. Why should his absence keep her from sleeping? Yet, here she was. She sighed and threw the blankets back. She’d been awake for the last three hours. And it was clear she’d had all the sleep she’d be getting today. This couldn’t go on. Ally shook her head as she shuffled into the bathroom and glared at her reflection the dark circles under her eyes belied her exhaustion. Something was going to have to give.
