THE ENCOUNTER
Rubbing her stomach tenderly, her expression was mixed, emotions jumbled inside her as she could not wait to see the look on Theodore's face when she had tendered the reports to him.
An uneasy feeling crept through her as a chill ran down her spine.
She was confused about the sudden reaction on her skin but brushed off the feeling treating it as nothing important
Entering her blue Bugatti, she headed to Theodore’s home; a joyful expression was seen on her face.
"....... She was only a pawn in the game of chess." Ava heard Theodore's voice, and her body stood still, trying to process the word she had heard.
“Who was a pawn, me?” This questions rang in Ava’s heart as she never knew that her heart that she guarded jealously could be a mere in the hands of the one who she called “her love”.
Although he was a major benefactor in making her a popular model, this does not dispute the fact that she had walked her way up amidst the thorns and trials she had faced earlier in life.
She chuckled and realized how fate had played a fast one on her.
Tears ran down her cheeks as she recalled the day she had encountered Theodore. She had met him during a photoshoot and his charming smile was enough to melt her stony heart.
FLASHBACK
I’ll never see you again as my father” Ava said as she stormed out of the house angrily.
Entering her red SUV, she headed towards the direction of the photoshoot, her angry expression was seen on her face.
The photo shoot provided her with ample opportunity to let out the raging anger that had threatened to consume her.
Her assistant and manager were surprised by the attitude that was displayed by her. She threw a tantrum at the slightest mistake and it was beginning to get on the nerves of everyone around her.
"Take a deep breath, and return to the studio when your mind has settled down," Her manager said.
"Are you alright?" A soothing voice said
Her expression changed that instant, and she looked at the one who had said such a statement and forced out a smile.
"Try to smile often, it suits you" The voice concluded as he gave her a one-sided smile and went his way.
A chill went down her spine as Ava looked at his retreating figure, and her curiosity was peaked; she had wanted to know the one behind the voice.
Ava thought that from that day onwards, she had seen one who could show her weaknesses and strength, not knowing that the devil could also be seen as an angel.
BACK TO PRESENT
A touch on her skin brought her back into reality and she realized that she had used her hands in wiping the tears off from her eyes.
She stood still as she wanted to get to the root of the matter. She thought that she already had one who she could cling to, tell her deepest, darkest secret, and walk away with open arms, knowing fully well that the secret was safe.
It was’nt long before she discovered the truth, Theodore was not who she thought he was.
She never knew that she had threaded on fire and it remained a little while before the fire consumed her.
"Are you sure he is the one? For all we know, he could be toying with your feelings." Remembering the words that Mia had spoken, she sighed as she realized how fate had dealt severely with her.
"I can't do without you." Remembering the words Theodore had spoken to her, she sighed.
It was the words that Ava had always wanted to hear as she felt joyful that she was the only one who was able to hear those soothing words of his.
His presence, which made her safe and secure, turned out to be an irritating one.
With shaky hands, she removed her phone from her bag and called the only line that could make the pain evident in her heart cease.
The line connected and Ava's sobs ran through the line, although it was in a muffled sound.
The line went dead and she sighed. She had spent all her years on the emotion called love and this was the outcome she got.
The one who had arrived caused her gloomy atmosphere to cease as she was amazed by the clothes that she wore.
"Didn't you have a fashion shoot today?" She asked the slim beauty in her front.
The one in front was cladded in blue crazy jeans, a red top, and black sneakers designing her feet.
On her slender hands was a yellow handbag which had pink designs gracing the front.
Mia noticed that Ava looked at her dress and sighed. She never knew what could be running in Ava's mind
"I came as soon as I heard your sobs on the phone, is everything alright?" Mia asked, her concerned gaze scanning through Ava's body.
Ava felt naked before those very eyes, and she sighed, she knew that Mia could be overprotective, and she could burn bridges for her to see that she was safe
"Let's talk over a cup of coffee," Ava said.
Mia had a confused expression on her face, Ava chuckled seeing that look
"What changed?" She asked inquisitively; Ava knew that Mia would not let her be; the only way to escape from Mia's clutches was to provide Mia with the answer she needed.
"Nothing much" Ava replied.
"Have you told him about the pregnancy yet??" Mia asked in that inquisitive tone of hers.
Ava shook her head. Mia shook her head as she knew how her friend could be dense at times.
"What if he does not accept me?" Ava asked, her voice barely audible
"He will have me to contend with" Mia replied.
Entering Theodore's house, all colors drained from Theodore's face as he tried to maintain the charming smile that had gotten her hooked.
"What brings you here?" His voice betrayed the emotions that ran through him.
"I'm......" The phone call distracted her from completing the statement. Theodore's eyes widened like saucers when he realized who was calling.
He entered the room to pick up the call, Ava overhead the discussion, and she trembled
"The mission was accomplished, Tomorrow it begins” Theodore said.
A chill ran down Ava spine as she heard the words.
Ava left Theodore room steathily as she pondered on the words, if only she knew, she would not have encountered Theodore at the first glance.
Ava phone buzzed as a message was seen on her phone
“Theodore is not who you think he is, he has an innocent look but a deadly plan”. It reads.
Ava stopped in her tracks, her mind trying to comprehend the words that were displayed on the screen of her phone
