Salute to New Beginnings

"Oh, right. I forgot my company ID again." I cursed myself upon reaching inside my bag to realize that my ID is missing. Seeing that I just reached the company's lobby. "Forgot your ID again, Ms. Melendez?" Leonard, the company's deskman asked. "Oh, Leonard. I wished I had the sharpest mind to remember it. Can I borrow a spare card, again?" I hesitantly asked him. "No problem. Lemme fetch it for you. It's just behind my counter." He said as he walked from the desk to the counter where he keeps it. "What a lovely morning, indeed!" says a booming voice from behind me. I turned around to see who it came from. Yes, the one and lonely, DERRICK. "How come we keep bumping into each other on a Monday morning. Twice in a row already." He beamed at me. "It's a curse. If lightning does not strike twice, I bet it is for you." I sneered at him. "Got the wrong side of bed, didn't you?" He kept going. "You think I'm still the Tina you used to bully in high school? Grow up! The world isn't about you and it will never be." I growled. "Hello, there Mr. Cole. Having a blast this morning, aren't you?" Leonard returns greeting the arrogant. "Indeed it is, Leonard." He greeted back cheerfully. "Ms. Melendez, here's the card." "Oh, you are such a sweet man, Leonard. Thank you for saving my day." Then I walked past Derrick intentionally bumping him with my bag. "Woah. Change your strategies, Tin? I thought your into diplomacy?" "Diplomacy, your a*s. Good for you!" I lift my right hand in the air and sassily waved him goodbye. "Asshole" I hissed. "Good morning, Tina. You had a call from Mr. Davis secretary, said he wanted to meet with you at lunch today." "Thanks, Gem. Morning." I replied. After accepting the promotion, I asked the board to consider my recommendation of having Gemma as the Supervisor of the Sales and Advertising department. They were positive to give it to her anyway, knowing invested she is. But the dents on my bestfriend's brain are more dominant than her actual logic, so she said, NO to it. Said, she has way better off with me as her boss than having everyone bites her a*s off. "Less responsibilities, less expectations, " she said. I tried to urge her to take it, but she's so stubborn. Besides, she said that she's still young, so she doesn't want that much responsibility on her shoulders. So I let her be my secretary, again. I smiled to think that she was the one who wanted me to take this new position afterall. How ironic! Walk the talk? Work in the morning was pretty light. Got few papers to review, application process to approve and sign, and a few vanilla milk to sip. Just before lunch, I retouched my light makeup and did hair before going to Mr. Davis' office for our lunch meeting. I was wearing my gray slightly-hugging dress, cut above my knee then I wore a black waistcoat over it. I matched my dress with my white stilleto heels. My hair was still loosely tied into a bun since I have been working all morning, so I let it down to give it some freedom. I patted down my dress and opened the door to go. I dropped by Gemma's desk to piss her off a bit. "My lunch meeting will be quick, so you better not think of going elsewhere for lunch." Giving her my tyrannical smile. "What the hell, Tin? You think I'm slacking off when you're not around?" "Ha-ha! I gotcha! Seeya later slacker. Love you." I pointed my hands as if they were a g*n to her face, "Pew-Pew!" "Ugh. Hate you most." She gabe me a lopsided smile and went back to her screen. "I'm here for Mr. Davis." I told Karen his secretary before she picked up the phone to prompt her boss. "Mr. Davis, Ms. Melendez is here to see you," she said, then smiled at me. "He's waiting for you." "Thank you, Karen." I replied then proceeded to the door and knocked before I enter. "Hello, Mr. Davis." I dropped my head to greet him.
