We leave mother’s rooms and Lucille hooks her arm through mine. I am speechless for a couple of minutes and wonder what she and Edgar are up to. This is not the Lucille I know. Something has changed and I’m sure Edgar doesn’t have anything to do with it…
Something else happened.
Lucille “I see your wheels turning. You want to know what I know.”
Selena “Uhm… BIG DUH!”
Lucille “I can’t tell you. It’s a Queen’s secret. If you were still Queen, I could have, but…”
She shrugs.
Selena “Oh, now you are just being ridiculous. For all the time I was Queen there was never such a thing as a Queen’s secret! I just had secrets that I kept. Now out with it!”
She smiles at me walking with a bit of a bounce in her step.
