Chapter Nineteen - Two Boyfriends?

I exit the bathroom a few minutes later. My hair thrown into a messy bun. My make up light.

Jacob and Edward are sitting at the end of the bed waiting for me. They both look up and smile at me. Butterflies take off in my stomach.

“I uh need to change, I’ll be right back.” I head into my closet and throw on the first pair of jeans I can find and a semi fitted black T-shirt and grab my favorite pair of converse.

I come back out and the boys are standing now. Eyeing me like I’m their favorite meal and they desperately want a taste.

“Okay boys let’s go downstairs.” I say blushing with a small laugh. I grab both their arms and start pulling them down the stairs.

Once we get downstairs Edward speaks, pulling me to a stop in the living room. “Bianca we need to talk before we leave for school.”

I spin and look at them. Their faces relaying nothing. Did I already f**k this up?

“What’s wrong?” I ask softly.

Edward steps into my space, cradling my face. “Do not worry little one, it’s nothing bad. Jacob and I have just had a discussion and came to the conclusion that he’ll be your public “boyfriend” as humans call it. and I’ll remain in the background.”

“But why? I don’t want to hide either of you. That’s not fair to you Edward.” I say, my hand reaching up and cupping his cheek.

“Well, it’s frowned upon to walk around with two “boyfriends”. People will label you as a slut or worse. We will not allow you to get hurt, whether that’s physical OR emotional. This is the best solution. It does not make your feelings any less for me. Or mine for you.”

I drop my forehead against Edward’s chest, knowing he’s right but also feeling devastated. Why can’t people just be more open minded? My heart aches at the thought that I’ll have to keep our relationship secret.

“I’m so sorry that my being a Banshee has complicated things this way. You should be able to be out in the open with your Mate. Not hidden.” I mumble against Edward’s chest.

He tilts my face back up, pressing a soft kiss on my mouth. Then pulling back he says “It’s okay Bianca, I don’t mind at all. I’m actually a really private person. I would rather keep our relationship to ourselves.”

“Really? I just don’t want either of you to feel hurt in any kind of way. I already care for you both deeply.”

“Really little one, I promise.”

With that we gather my bags and head out to Edward’s car. Which at some point during my getting ready he must have went to fetch. I have no idea where he had it parked. Hopefully my dad didn’t see it.

Once we’re in Edward’s car, myself in the passenger seat and Jacob lounging in the back; I decide now is when I should tell them about my gifts.

“Okay so I guess it’s now or never. Do either of you know anything about Banshees?”

“No” they say at the same time. Then Jacob says “It’s just rumors and here say. They all went into hiding centuries ago.”

“Okay well, I can go Incorporeal and Invisible. I have something called a Sonic Scream and a Sonic Scream Wave. And the worst one is Death Precognition.”

“Whoa, your powers are so much cooler than ours!” Jacob says with a goofy looking grin.

“I mean, I guess so. I don’t care for the last one. My mother says I could develop more over time depending on how powerful I am. But I doubt it at this point.”

“Well I definitely see why you have two Mates. You’re already incredibly powerful. I mean Invisibility would be dangerous in the wrong hands. Let alone a Sonic Scream Wave.” Edward says with a glance in my direction.

“Don’t worry Bianca. No one will find out, and we’ll protect you.” Jacob says reaching his arm forward and giving my shoulder a gentle squeeze.

My heart rate had picked up at Edward’s words. That damn superior hearing giving my worry away.

“I know, I trust you both to protect me. I can also protect myself though. Don’t underestimate your tiny Mate.”

“Never.” They say at the same time again.

That makes a laugh burst out of me.

Pulling into the school parking lot I can already tell everyone is staring. I feel even more anxious than I did on my first day.

Edward gets out first and stands waiting while Jacob jumps out and opens my door. Taking my things from me. Then throws his arm over my shoulders like usual when I get out.

I feel a pang in my chest, knowing I can’t touch or have Edward hold me in this way until we’re alone again.

Jacob and I walk around the back of the car and head towards the entrance of the school, Edward trailing behind us. Although he isn’t walking with us, I can tell people are balking at my sudden entourage.

Whispers and stares becoming apparent.

Jacob leans down and whispers into my ear reassuring me everything will be fine. “Ignore them Bi, they aren’t important. Not to mention I’m sure they just find it weird we rode with Edward. I doubt they think anything is going on.”

I just nod my head agreeing.

Right before we make it inside the school Sierra steps in front of us. She’s smiling but her eyes are showing a different emotion. They show fear.

“Hey Bi, I really need to talk to you after school. It’s really important.” She says in a quick rush of words.

I look up at Jacob and he just shrugs his shoulders.

“Uh okay sure Sierra, want to come to my place and we can talk?”

She lets out a breath, her shoulders dropping, like she was hoping I’d say that. “Yea that works, text me your address. I’ll be there right after school.”

“Okay, see you then.”

Sierra turns and heads into the school.

“Well that was a little weird.” I say under my breath. Knowing Jacob and Edward will hear.

“Guess we’ll find out what she wants after school.”

Shrugging again Jacob starts walking us into the school.
