Ten Years Later

It’s been ten years since we slept in the tree house and a lot has changed. But we will get into that soon. Suddenly Leo yells, “Dimples we need to hurry up everyone is going to be here soon.” I then entered our kitchen and I said, “Speckles I was just admiring my small bump.” Leo then looked up and said, “you look beautiful love.” I then smiled and said, “thank you baby.” Suddenly Iola yells, “mum, dad, nan, Aunt Tabitha and pop is here.” I then yelled, “we will be out in a second Stardust.” About seven years ago Levi’s biological mum gave birth to a baby girl and so dad and Leah adopted her and named her Tabitha. Our little Stardust isn’t so little anymore she is now ten years old, and I swear she looks more and more like her dad each day.

Suddenly we hear, “give it back!” Leo and I quickly ran out into the yard to see what was happening. We then saw that our kids were fighting over one of their toys. I then spoke up and said, “Elisabeth Galaxy you have your own toy that is right there with your name on it now give your brother back his.” Elisabeth then said, “but mum Rhodes started it!” I then looked at Rhodes and I said, “Rhodes is this true.” Rhodes then looked at me and he said, “yes mum.” I then said, “both of you apologise to each other please.” Rhodes then said, “sorry Lizzy.” Elisabeth then said, “I don’t want to apologise to him.” Leo then said, “Elisabeth Garett Galaxy do as your told.” Elisabeth then said, “ok daddy sorry Rho.”

I then said, “thank you now go and see if nan and pop needs help with carrying stuff over to the table.” When Iola was three, I fell pregnant with identical twins. Rhodes came first and he looks exactly like me except he has his dad’s nose.

Rhodes is also a Mumma’s boy that’s for sure and our youngest for now Elisabeth looks identical to her brother except her left eye is the colour of her dads’ eyes and her right one is the colour of mine. We also named Elisabeth after her great nan who passed away from terminal cancer. Suddenly the kids came running towards us and Iola said, “mum look what nan and pop bought me.” She then showed me a big sketch book with some new art supplies.

I then said, “wow Stardust you have gotten spoiled” Rhodes then said, “mum pop gave me a planner set like the one he takes to school with him.” I then smiled and said, “wow Starbeam that was lucky.” Elisabeth then said, “mum dad look nan gave me a surgeon play kit.” I then smiled and said, “that’s so cool Starlight.” Leo then said, “how about you three go and put your things into your rooms so you don’t lose them.” Once they left to go put their things away dad, Leah and Tabitha walked up to us and I said, “dad Leah you didn’t have to get the kids anything.” Dad then said, “nonsense we love to spoil the kids.” I then said, “as long as you don’t spoil them too much dad.”

I then smiled at Tabitha, and said, “the kids will be back out in a second and you can go and play Tabi.” Tabitha then said, “thanks Luna.” I then smiled at her and said, “you don’t have to thank me.” Suddenly we hear another car coming into the driveway and it was Sally, Nova, Caster, Lee and Orion. Suddenly the kids ran out and as soon as the car stopped an over excited Lee jumped out of the car and yelled, “Rhodes!” As soon as Rhodes had heard him, he yelled back, “Lee!” Both then ran up to each other and had a massive hug.

For everyone that is wondering who Lee is, Lee is Casters six-year-old son with his ex-fiancée Lena. Caster then got out of the car and said, “boys give each other some breathing space and Lee did you get into the lollies before we came here?” Lee then said, “maybe.” Sally then got out and she said, “oh no he’s going to need to have a huge run before he gets back into my car again.”

Nova then said, “he will wear himself out in no time babe.” Orion then came up to me and gave me a big hug and said, “that son of mine and the kids better be helping you around the house.” I then smiled and said, “Leo is a big help he was throughout all of my pregnancies and as for the kids they try and help to the best of their abilities, but they are still only kids.”

Leo then walked up to us, and said, “Elisabeth really does give Luna a run for her money though.” I then said, “well she isn’t a Mumma’s girl that’s for sure.” Leo then said, “nope she’s my little girl that’s for sure.” Lee then ran up to us and he gave me a hug and he said, “hi Aunt Luna hi Uncle Leo.” Leo then said, “hi Lee have you been a good boy for your dad?” Lee then said, “always.” Caster then started laughing and said, “now that’s a lie you are good only forty percent of the time and the rest you are a little troublemaker.” I then laughed and said, “so he is a little you then.” Leo then said, “well I’m going to go and start the BBQ up before the rest starts to show up.” I then smiled and said, “well I am going to go and sit down for a while.”

I then sat down and five minutes later Rhodes came up to me looking worn out and I said, “Starbeam do you have your puffer with you?” He then shook his head no. So, I said, “come sit on my lap baby.” So, he sat down, and he started cuddling into me and Leah came up and said, “I always have a spare puffer for him to use.” I then smiled and said, “thank you.” Once Rhodes used his puffer he said, “thanks nana.” She then smiled at him, and said, “your welcome buddy.” Suddenly another car pulled up and this time it was Caleb, Levi and Estela. I then said, “Starbeam your uncle is here do you want to go and say hi to him?” Rhodes then said, “later right now I just want Mumma cuddles.”

I then gave him a kiss on his head, and I said, “ok baby.” Levi, Caleb and Estela all then walked up to us, and Levi said, “what’s wrong with little man?” I then said, “he’s just a little worn out that’s all.” Estela then said, “Luna where is Iola?” I then smiled and said, “I think she is playing with the other two girls.” Suddenly Iola ran up to us and she gave Estela a big hug and she said, “how was your holiday away?” Estela then said, “it was so fun also mummy said that they will coming a little late because they took Lukus to the doctor.”

I then smiled and said, “thank you for letting us know.” Iola then saw Rhodes cuddling into me and she gave him a big hug from behind and she said, “it’s going to be alright Starbeam.” I then smiled with pride I can’t believe how lucky I am to have the kids that I have. I should give you a bit of background on what is happening. Levi and Caleb have been in a relationship together for about three years now and they have been the happiest they have ever been. Iola and Estela are still the best of friends even though they stopped talking for a year when we took the kids to Starian for the year so they could learn about their heritage.

Five minutes later two cars pulled up and in the first car was Orbit, Hayley and their three kids Eddie, Rebecca and Lola. About six years ago Hayley and Orbit got married and when they got back from their honeymoon, they found out that they were having triplets. In the second car was Xenia, Aleesha, Nikolai and their one-year-old Anna. But I couldn't believe who else I saw in the car where I stood up with Rhodes in my arms and I placed him down in my seat and I said, “Starbeam I will be back in a minute I’m just going to give Uncle Garett a hug since I haven’t seen him in a couple of years.” He then nodded yes, and I quickly ran up to Garett and I said, “Garett!”

As soon as he saw me, he opened his arms out wide and he said, “Luna come give me a hug.” I then ran into his arms, and said, “I have missed you so much come and have a seat next to me and Rhodes.” So, we both walked back to Rhodes, and he stood up and he said, “you shouldn’t have to pick me back up Mumma.” I then smiled at him as I sat down and I said, “thanks baby.” Garett then said, “can Uncle Garett have a hug Rhodes?” Rhodes then gave Garett a hug and sat back down in my lap. I then said, “so how have you been and what have you been up to?” Garett then said, “well Logan and I have both retired as you already know so we went on a holiday out of the city to visit family.” I then smiled and said, “that must have been nice.”

Suddenly Hayley came and sat in the chair across from us and she said, “I hope I’m not interrupting anything I just need to sit down.” Garett then said, “of course not and also by the looks of it I get to get my sowing machine back out and make some new baby clothes.” I then smiled and said, “Garett you don’t have to do that we still have heaps of the clothes you have made the other kids.”

Garett then said, “nonsense no baby of yours is getting hand me downs when they have their Uncle Garett around.” I then said, “so are you staying for a while then?” Garett then gave me a smile and he said, “Logan and I are thinking about moving next door to you.” I then smiled and said, “it’s going to be just like old times.”

Suddenly Orbit yells, “ok everybody we are going to start cooking the sausages.” Leo then walked over to us, and said, “what’s wrong with Starbeam?” I then said, “he nearly had an asthma attack but he's getting better.” Leo then picked him up out of my arms and he gave him a big hug and said, “are you ok Rhodes?” He then said, “yes dad.” Leo then said, “do you want to help us cook the food?” Rhodes then said, “yeah I’m feeling good enough to help.” I then smiled and I said, “Starbeam please be careful and listen and do what you are told.” Rhodes then said, “yes Mumma.” Once they were gone bubba was pushing on my bladder so I said, “I will be back in a minute.”

I then walked inside and done my business as I was about to walk back outside, I heard something coming from Iola’s bedroom. So, I turned around and I headed for her door. As I got to her door, I heard Estela say, “do you think she will like it?” Iola then replied with, “of course mum will she loves every present I get or make her.” I then had a big smile on my face, and I quickly walked back outside. When I got back outside Samantha, Markus and Lukus had arrived and as I saw all our family and friends, I couldn’t help but feel lucky with all these amazing people that I have around me.

Suddenly I started to feel anxious with everything that is happening around me, so I made my way over to my caravan and I opened and quickly shut the door behind me. I then saw my teddy bear that mum made me when I was a baby and so I picked it up and as I laid down onto the bed, I cuddled it. A few minutes had past and there was a knock at the door, so I said, “who is it?” “it’s dad.” Dad replied with so I said, “come in.” He then quickly came in and closed the door behind him. He then came up and sat next to me on the bed and he said, “what are you doing in here?” I then said, “I started to feel overwhelmed with everything that is going on.” Dad then smiled and he said, “it is getting a bit chaotic out there.”

I then smiled and said, “dad do you ever wish that mum would have told you about me?” Dad then thought about it, and he said, “of course I did but then we wouldn’t be here today.” I then said, “I miss her.” Dad then said, “your mum she was my first love the person who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with I was even planning on proposing to her before she took off.”

I then said, “really so if she ended up staying longer, she might have been married to you.” Dad then said, “she might have been, or she might not have the past is in the past and there is no way of knowing now.” I then asked, “dad how did you and Leah meet?” Dad then smiled and said, “we went to the same university together.”

I then said, “how long did it take you both to get together?” He then said, “I asked her to be my girlfriend in our second year of university and proposed at our graduation.” I then smiled and said, “that must have been exciting.” He then said, “it was, and I have always wanted to ask but where did Leo propose?” I then had to make something up, so I didn’t tell him about Starian, so I smiled and said, “one of our friends that we made had a treehouse in their property and they agreed to let him propose to me there.”

Dad then said, “you have both spent a lot of time in that treehouse of yours.” I then smiled and said, “yeah that is where we became friends, fell in love and a lot more things had happened in that treehouse including when we renovated it so it could hold more people.”

Dad then said, “that treehouse is going to be in the family for generations.” I then smiled and I said, “it’s nice to think about the treehouse still being around way after we leave the Earth.” Dad then said, “but it is also scary to think about.” Suddenly my phone started ringing and it was Leo, so I answered and said, “hey Speckles what up?” Leo then said, “Dimples are you ok, and the food is ready.” I then said, “yeah I am I just needed a breather away from everyone and dad and I will be right out.” Leo then said, “ok we will see you in a second love you.” I then said, “I love you too.” Leo then hung up and dad said, “I’m guessing the food is cooked.”

I then said, “yes, it is.”

So, dad then got up and he helped me up off the bed. Dad then said, “what are you going to do with four kids?” I then smiled and said, “they might be a handful at times, but I love them to death.” Dad then said, “we all do.” We both then walked out, and everyone was lining up to get food. So as dad walked up and joined the queue I stayed back and sat down. Dad then turned around and he said, “Luna sweetheart are you ok?” I then smiled and said, “I will just wait until everyone else has get their food.” Ten minutes later Leo came up to me with a plateful of food and he placed it down in front of me and he said, “here Dimples eat up.” I then smiled and said, “I have the best husband.”

Leo then smiled at me, and he said, “just like how I have the best wife a man can ask for.” Once everyone was finished eating Iola yelled, “can I please have everyone’s attention please!” We all then faced her, and she said, “a few weeks ago I was going through an old photo album I found, and I found a picture of my mum and my Nana Ashley and so I asked Uncle Levi to help me make a present for my mum. So, with Uncle Levi’s amazing drawing skills and my idea we finally finished so mum I hope you like what we have made for you.”

She then came up to me with a wrapped gift and she gave it to me and as I opened it, I couldn’t help but cry. Iola had given me a framed family portrait that had mum when she was younger, dad, Leo, Leah, Levi, Tabitha and the kids and I all smiling being happy. I then got up and I passed the picture around so everyone could see, and I gave Iola and Levi a huge hug each and I said, “thank you both so much.” Levi then said, “you don’t have to thank me this was all Iola.” I then smiled at her, and said, “thank you Stardust baby this was the best gift I have received all week.” Leo then said, “hey I give you a gift once a week.” I then said, “yeah but this is from my baby girl so there is no competition anything from any of my babies are going to be my favourite gifts.”

Leo then said, “ok that’s fair Dimples.” Rhodes then said, “I made mummy a present too!” He then jumped up and he ran inside, and he ran back with a painted rock that had written on it, “best Mumma.” I then started crying more and said, “thank you so much Starbeam I love it also are you feeling, ok?” Rhodes then said, “I’m fine Mumma I didn’t run all the way.” I then said, “good I’m glad that you are feeling ok.” Suddenly Elisabeth stood up on hair chair and she said, “I was going to wait until later but since my two siblings have both given mum a present, I want to give dad a present.” She then ran inside, and she came running out with a wrapped present. She then gave it to Leo and as soon as he opened it, he started to cry.

He then said, “I love it Starlight thank you so much but next time if you want to give me a framed photo make sure it’s our whole family.” She then said, “ok daddy.” Leo then showed me the picture and it was of them at her father daughter dance last week and I said, “you my little Starlight is a daddy’s girl.” She then laughed and she said, “and proud of it mum.” I then smiled at her, and I said, “well one of you have to be.” Leo then said, “hey both of my girls are daddy’s girls.” Both Iola and I looked at each other and she said, “sorry dad but I’m a Mumma’s girl.”

Leo then gasped and he said, “take it back.” I then said, “oh Speckles maybe our little boy will be a daddy’s boy when he is born.” Leo then said, “it would be cool to have a daddy’s boy.” I then said, “exactly.” As the hours past and all our guests had finally left and so I said, “ok everyone you have ten minutes to brush your teeth and to get into warm pyjama’s please.” So, the kids then ran to their rooms and quickly got dressed and they all ran into the two bathrooms and started to brush their teeth. By the time they were all done Leo and I had already had the car packed and so the kids all jumped into the car, and we drove down to the treehouse. We then all got out of the car, and I quickly climbed up onto the balcony and Leo said, “are you ready for the first thing to be pulled up?”

I then said, “yes I am.” Leo then put the first blanket into the wooden box, and he started pulling the rope and the box started lifting to me. Once the blanket had reached me, I pulled it out and I had set it up on the balcony floor once I had finished, I said, “send me up the next thing.” Leo then placed all our pillows into the box, and he sent it back up to me and so I quickly set the pillows up.

I then sent the box back down to him and he then put the big fluffy blanket into it, and he pulled it up to me. I then said, “this is going to be fun.” Suddenly Iola climbed up and she said, “don’t worry mum I will help you set the big fluffy blanket up.” I then smiled at her, and said, “thank you Stardust, I appreciate it.” Together we both finished setting up the sleeping area.

I then said, “ok we are done now.” As Leo was about to help the other two kids climb up the ladder Rhodes asks, “do you think the box is strong enough to hold me?” Leo then said, “it should be why is that?” Rhodes then said, “can you pull me?” I then said, “you have to hold on if your dad says yes.” Rhodes then agreed and so Leo helped him in the box, and he started pulling him up.

Once he was all the way up, I helped him out of the box and I gave him a cuddle and said, “was that fun?” He then replied with, “yes Mumma.” Leo then started helping Elisabeth climb up the ladder and as she was about to be at the top, she slipped so I quickly got to her in time and pulled her up. She then gave me a big hug and I asked her if she was ok and she said, “yes mum I’m fine but thank you for saving me.”

I then said, “of course Starlight, I will always save you if you are in trouble.” Leo then climbed up and he pulled Elizabeth into a hug, and he said, “I am so sorry baby.” She then said, “dad it wasn’t your fault I just didn’t have my footing right.” We all then hopped under the blankets and cuddled up to each other and Iola asked, “mum who came up with this tradition?” I then smiled and said, “my mum came up with this when I was three.” Rhodes then asked, “Mumma what was Nana Ashley like?” I then smiled at him, and said, “she was my best friend before your father came along, she would help anyone who needed help and she loved to bake, and I know that she would love every single one of you.” Elisabeth then said, “you are like her.” I then smiled and said, “well I try to be like her but not too much but thank you Starlight.”

Iola then said, “I love how pretty the leaves look when they fall.” I then smiled and said, “that is what I love about watching leaves.” Rhodes then said, “Mumma can you show us your powers again?” Elisabeth then got excited and said, “yeah mum, can you?” I then said, “how about we get dad to show you his first?” Iola then said, “no offence but dad’s power is bad.” Leo then said, “I take no offence to that because I agree.” I then rolled my eyes at him and said, “ok I will show you my powers again but once they are over it is off to sleep ok.” All the kids then said, “yes mum.” So, I showed them my powers. So that is how an orphan like me found her family I hope you have all enjoyed my story and who knows this might not be the last time you hear from this family.
