Going Our Separate Ways For Now

Its finally the last day of school and tomorrow Steve, Leah and I are going on a road trip to the next town over where both he and my mum were born. But before that I have to say goodbye to my best friend which will be one of the hardest things, I have ever done even though it will be only for a week. It’s now last period and we have English which is good because if it was any other class, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. Once we were all in the classroom, we were just waiting for Steve to get back to class when Hayley came up to me and she made sure that everyone could hear what she was about to say and she said, “so, Luna what is going with you and Mr Johnson? I saw you the over the weekend getting out of his car.”

Suddenly all the other students start whispering things but the one thing that upset me the most was hearing someone say, “is Luna sleeping with Mr Johnson? His poor wife.” Leo then said, “Hayley stop.” Hayley then said, “what I’m just curious on to why Luna was leaving his car.” I suddenly stood up and I ran out of the classroom as fast as I could and that was when Leo stood up and said, “I hope you are happy with yourself.” He then went to follow me and that was when Steve was outside of the classroom and he said, “make sure she’s alright please.” Leo then said, “I will.”

Once Leo and I were gone Steve then walked in and shut the door and that was when he angrily said, “Miss Jackson go back to your seat now!” Hayley then quickly ran and sat down in her seat. Steve then said, “thanks to Miss Jacksons big mouth you all now know that Luna was with me over the weekend and now I am going to have to explain why she was with me without knowing if she is going to like it.” One of the students then put their hand up and said, “is Luna in some sort of trouble?” Steve then said, “no Luna is not in any kind of trouble but as you all know her mother passed away last year so Luna had to be put into the system and so my wife and I put our hands up to look after her until her DNA test was completed so she could finally meet her biological father.”

Joel then put his hand up and said, “well does she know who her father is now?” Steve then took a deep breath in, and he said, “she has found out that her mother didn’t tell her father that she was born, and it has turned out that I am Luna’s biological father.” Hayley then said, “so you abandoned her I mean if I was her father, I would too.” Steve then said, “didn’t I just say I didn’t know about her?” One of the other students then said, “yes sir you did.” Steve then said, “also Miss Jackson I am going to be calling your parents because the way you have been treating my daughter since school started back is not acceptable and with that said I am making sure that you are getting changed into a different class for next term.”

Meanwhile Leo and I have just climbed up and sat down in my treehouse and Leo said, “are you ok Luna?” I then said, “I will be I just had to get out of there before I punched her in the face.” Leo then said, “well I’m glad that you decided to leave and I’m pretty sure Steve heard everything.” I then said, “he’s going to tell them all I’m his daughter, isn’t he?” Leo then said, “I think so don’t you want people to know that he’s your dad?” I then said, “no it’s not that I just hope they don’t think he abandoned me or anything like that.” Leo then said, “I’m sure if people did, he would tell them the truth.” I then said, “I know he would but still I don’t want him to get hurt because of it.”

Leo then said, “I know that you are worried about him but he’s an adult he can handle himself.” I then said, “I’m going to miss you so much when I leave but at least it’s going to be for a week.” Leo then said, “about that Dimples I’m going back to my hometown because my dad is sick, and I don’t know how long I’m going to be away for.” I then gave him a big hug and said, “I’m so sorry to hear that and we can at least facetime, right?” Leo then said, “of course we can maybe not every day, but we will find a way to keep in contact I promise.” I then said, “no matter what happens you are always going to be my best friend.” Leo then said, “well that’s good because no matter how far away we are from each other you can’t get rid of me.”

I then said, “good Speckles I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Leo then pulled me down, so I was sitting in his lap, and he gave me a hug and said, “I’m really going to miss you Dimples.” I then started to cry a little and I said, “I know and I’m going to miss you too.” Suddenly we could hear a car engine so I quickly got out of his lap before the car could come any closer. Once the car has gotten closer, we could see that it was Steve’s car. Once he was outside of the treehouse he got out of the car and he said, “can I come and join you guys up in the treehouse?” I then said, “sure there is enough room up here for another four people.”

Steve then laughed as he climbed up to join us and once, he was on the treehouses balcony he gave me a hug and said, “I’m so sorry about what Hayley has done and I told them all the truth.” I then hugged him back and said, “I hope nobody thought you abandoned me.” Steve then said, “the only person who said it was Hayley and if anybody else thought that then they didn’t say anything.”

Leo then said, “of course Hayley would be the one to think that I don’t know why she is acting like such a b***h for.” I then said, “who actually knows can you believe she used to be my best friend.” Steve then said, “she could be having problems at home that we don’t know about but that still doesn’t give her the right to act like that.” Leo then said, “well let’s hope that she stops.”

I then said, “if she doesn’t then, I’m just going to have to get used to it.” Steve then said, “sweety you shouldn’t have to get used to it you should be happy living your life.” I then said, “I know but I will only have to put up with her for the rest of the year and that is it.” Leo then said, “Dimples I have been wondering what you want to do once school is finished?” I then said, “I might go overseas for a holiday and then come back and go to college to get into astrophysics.” Leo then said, “I think you will love doing that especially since it’s in your blood.” I then said, “what do you mean?” Leo then said, “oh my father used to tell me that one of our ancestors were once something that we want to become.”

I then said, “oh ok that kinds of makes sense.” Steve then said, “no matter what happens Leah and I are going to be here to support you.” I then said, “thank you.” Leo then said, “you know that I will support you with anything you want to do Dimples.” I then smiled and said, “and I’m the same with you Speckles.”
