CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Winter passed into spring. Asphodel and her friends had worked hard, learning much about all the gods, as well as Sylissa. Most people only knew about the god they served, and little about the others.
Asphodel was fascinated to learn that Sylissa, goddess of life and healing, was twin to Kalhera, goddess of death.
When she queried what seemed to her to be an anomaly, her teacher replied, “What’s certain in life is death, Asphodel. They’re simply the opposite sides of the same coin. The sisters aren’t in opposition.”
The four novices learned history and geography, as well as religion, and even had lessons in music and art. They learned herbalism, and how best to grow the various herbs used in healing draughts. They even learned about herbs used for cooking.
