Zora's Life Story

I, Sin, had waited until Sam exited the room, following close behind her was Zora. She was cleaned and clothed finally. I noticed her wings poking out of her shirt. "How-" Zora held her hand up. "I cut holes for them. I will not hide them. I am never going to hide the fact that I am a mutant. That's who I am... Take it or leave it.." She growled some. I was so in shocked she actually spoke as her voice rang through my head. "Don't worry Sin.. She isn't actually mad at you.. She's mad at Paine." Sam laughed a bit as Zora crossed her arms. I looked from Sam to Zora and laugh a bit. These two will get along just fine. "So Zora... I am sure you would like to learn more about us... Am I right?" I questioned a bit. She looked at me then down. "Not really... But I guess I owe you that much for not killing me." She shrugged. I can already see she is a spitfire waiting for gasoline. I liked it. "Well if it's that horrrrrrible for you, we will at least feed you while we talk. I ordered pizza." I made sure to sound as dramatic as possible with the word 'horrible' trying to be funny. But she didn't laugh or even smirk. She had major walls up due to how she was treated in that place... Just like I did... We went to the dining room while we waited on the pizza. Zora and Sam sat down as I leaned against the bar. "Did Paine run off?" I heard a growl as the shadow wolf creeped into the room silently. "Of course not. I would like to hear about the people Zora is with.." I saw Zora roll her eyes as he shrank down to a smaller shadow and hopped up on the table. "Any questions for us?" Sam asked breaking the ice. Zora sat still for a moment before she sighed. "Yeah.. Actually.... What is piz-za?" She looked slightly confused. You could see the question broke Sam's heart. "Well... it's like a piece of dough with sauce, cheese and pepperoni's.." Sam continnued as she still looked confused. I sighed as I shook my head. She wouldn't understand all they fed people in that hellhole was broth. If that. "Zora it's just yummy... A lot better than that broth s**t they use to serve you. Try to trust us on that." She looked down and nodded a bit. "Well.. I'll start with the formal.. You know our names are Sin and Sam... We are brother and sister. I'm older. I'm 26 and Sam is 23." "The same age as you Zora." Sam added sweetly. I didn't think to ask for her age at first but I figured it was around Sam's. Zora nodded a bit at Sam, still emotionless. If you didn't know what she had been through in her life you would think she was just an emo b***h who wanted nothing to do with any one person in this world. "I am a mutant but it skipped over Sam. She's jusr really smart and good with electronics. That's how we knew some stuff about you. She has a database of all the mutants that were taken in at the orphanage." Zora growled a bit. "Why?" She questioned a bit concerned on why we needed that kind of information. I wouldn't except anything else.. She needs to stay cautious. "Well we help them." Sam said breaking the silence after her question. "Yes we do.. I was kept there in the orphanage for a few years. My parents didn't want to...They were actually forced. And when they realized what was going on. That they wouldn't be able to visit, that it wasn't a training facility like they claimed.. They wanted me out. So we began to communicate through my power.. Which is very similar to the mind link you and Paine share." She looked at me then back at Paine who was sittin gon the table still. As she turned around the doorbell rang causing her to jump startled. She whined a bit as Sam grabbed her hand. "Don't worry! It's just the pizza! Nothing will hurt you." Sam reassured her as I ran to the door so the pizza guy wouldn't ring again. That was the first emotion we had saw in her eyes since we met her a few hours ago and it was... fear...

Sam grabbed plates as I stacked a few boxes of pizza on the table. Zora looked curiously at it as I opened it. I could almost see her eyes grow to the size of saucers as she stared at it. I took a piece and placed it on the plate and slide it over to her. She waited and watched as we began to eat. I assume to see how to eat it. She finally picked up hers and took a small bite of it. For the first time, we saw her smile. "This is amazing!" She munched happily on it as we gave her more. I was pretty sure she ate a whole pizza on her own. She really had a wolf's appeite. I smirked some as she sipped out of her cup. "Thank you.." She said casually as she looked down at her plate. I saw Paine walk up to her and lay his head on her lap. She stroked his fur. Something seemed wrong. Then we noticed she was crying. "Zora..." "No.. Sorry.. It's just.... this is the only kind gesture I have ever gotten in 23 years... I was... I was always treated like an animal.. So I tried to become one..."

I, Zora, tried to stop the tears. But I couldn't as they began to fall. I have never cried... Not since that day... "Zora.. We want to be your friends.." Sam grabbed my hand as she talked to me. "This is what friends do. We make each other feel happy." Sin just smiled awkwardly at me as he patted the top of my hand to. "She just isn't use to this... Genuine gentle contact." Paine chimed in as my voice got stuck in my throat. I nodded slightly as I tried to calm down by petting him. "I assume you also would like to know a bit about me too?" The both nodded as I sighed a bit. "Well... There's not much.. I don't remember my parents.. All I remember is always living in that place... The headmaster always told us we were monsters.. I eventually started to believe him..." I started to play with my hair as I continued. "When I was 18, there was a new group coming in and of course the headmaster wanted to put on a show... So he had me chained on a small stage and began to torture me... I don't know what actually happened.. I blacked out.. But when I woke up... The new group and pretty much everyone in the room was dead.." I paused as I waited for them to freak out. Sin just laughed. "Do you believe you killed them?" He asked. I looked at him with a lot of confusion as he continued. "That did that to get rid of you.... I've seen it before... When I was in there they did it to someone else. But they killed that poor boy immediately to prevent another 'Mutant 13' incident.." He used air quotations as he said 'Mutant 13'. "They use that method to get rid of powerful mutants... They were threatened by you.. You were what 18? Of age... Getting to you're most powerful." He sat back in his chair and raised an eyebrow as he waited for my respond. Paine snickered a bit and stood up out of my lap. "That explains so much.. It's true Zora... I was given to you by you're mother. S-she was a very high priestess... " He shook his head. "No.. Zora I have to tell you the truth.. Your mother... Was like the moon goddess.. But not quite the same. She was a descendant of her. and also... Named Selene..." My eyes went wide as he spoke. He knew my mother... "I always thought you were just a figment of my imagination... Until they said they saw you too.. H-how do you know my mother?" He flattened his ears and sighed. "You were snatched from them as a newborn.. She gave me to you to guide you.. I never took it seriously until you were in the woods.. I am sorry for that.." I looked at him shocked as he admitted this to me. I wasn't upset. I just patted his head. "I thought I was a waste to due to that place... So it's okay.." Paine whined a bit. "Normally I would be in the mind of a werewolf... So I mean you technically are when in your wolf form.. But I am happy I don't have to stay in your mind.. And as much as I hate to say it... My name is actually Paine.. and your mother did name you Zora.. I think it was in the back of your mind when you decided this all.." I nodded. "Something told me it felt right.." I felt like he was hiding other things from me but I won't pry for them.. I have begun to trust them all. "I also want to help mutants. I have thought for so long I would just kill the ones I come across since we were apparently monsters but... I want to help.." Sin and Sam both smiled at me as we continued to talk and get to know each other. I think I will like it hear....

I, Paine, left out the part that her mother is still alive and watching over her as well.. I felt like that was not my responsibility to do. Queen Selene will appear when she is ready.. I was glad that she wasn't angry with me for this all... I have not been the best to her but I am for now on.. I swear by the Moon Goddess herself... I laid down at the foot of the bed Zora was told she could sleep in. Sin was in here explaining where everything was. "We can go shopping tomorrow.. I know a place for mutants where you won't have to cut all you're clothes up." He chuckled a bit as he walked to the door. "Goodnight Zora." She smirked slightly in the dark. "Goodnight Sin.." He shut the door and Zora sighed a bit as she transformed into her cat form and hopped on the bed. She climbed up on my back and curled up. "This is the first time I've heard you purr in your cat form.." She stretched a bit as she laughed. Her purr got even louder. "I'm just happy Paine... For the first time in a long time... I'm happy.. Thank you for telling me about my mom.. I always thought they didn't want me... I didn't realized they were forced.." I nodded some and huffed. "Back when you were born they outlawed mutants.. They would track the power energy and take any child that could possibly be mutants... It's a really shitty thing honestly.. But now there are no more of the orphanages... Just some laws... A lot of them still just as cruel.. So we need to be careful still." She sighed some. "I like know another mutant who has been through the same thing as me.. Sin is nice..." I raised an eyebrow and smirked some. "Oh really now? And here I thought the big feral Zora would never like another human." She growled a bit. " I DIDN'T SAY I LIKED HIM." I could tell if she was in her human form she would be blushing. I just laughed. "Go to sleep little one... We have a long few days ahead of us.." She growled a bit but snuggled into my fur and soon drifted off to sleep. I sighed some. I was still fearful of the human race.. But with allies it will be easier. Soon Zora will realize how powerful she is and will be able to help herself and her own kind...
