Big Shift

Angelo's pov.

"I will take Annarose to see the elephant and hopefully she will be able to shift," I inform my father making preparations for our departure.

"Good. That's a wise decision. Even I don't scurry far from my blood caller it's too dangerous." I nod in agreement.

"Keep a watch on Katherine. I feel she's not stable in the mind she's doing things to me." I mumble in thought of what all went down. Father looks at me worriedly.

"Like? You need to further elaborate I can't have her ruining our future plans." He questions. I sigh frustratedly.

"Like she threatened Annarose and our unborn child before I even went into hiding. Then it steadily just gets worse between the two of us her attitude towards my son or the disrespect she gives me is out of character. She's so blinded by jealously. The evil laugh and threat she bestowed upon me today are evident we can't underestimate her." I shake my head at a loss for how to describe such a woman.

"What is she doing to you? You said she's doing things to you." Father inquires.

"Since I acquired my powers I find I'm angered on another level. Once it's activated It burns spreads devours me. Sometimes I'm so overtaken by this fury I'm not even the same man." My nostrils flaring as I intake a huge breath after my confession.

"Anything that will inflict pain or harm to your blood caller either physical or mental it matters, not your inner calling will want to protect her at all cost. Do you think keeping Katherine alive will be a wise choice especially since she's already made intentions known?" His question takes me back in disbelief. I married this woman and gave her vows of devotion all because this man had arranged such.

"You suggest I kill my wife? You arranged this marriage for her to be our next future Queen. Her father is your best of friends and our ally. I have stood before our people and her and made vows to give her titles and heirs to our throne. No matter how I feel towards her she is still my wife whom I vowed before all taking responsibility for. She is the mother to my daughter now." I state a bit aggravated. If he did not make me marry her I wouldn't be in this mess.

"I'm not saying you must son. Be aware though if your calling finds her a threat to your blood caller her very life is in danger every time she provokes you. See Annaroses powers are of her good nature but yours are darker. The fire consumes you and the more provoked it grows to have a mind and will of its very own. This was your mother's vision that it will change you and you will lose your way becoming even something you won't recognize for it will be so evil." He speaks low his eyes squinted and trained upon me.

"I must get going Annarose needs to see this elephant and have time to learn to shift into it upon her command. We attack the council tomorrow the days already fading." I say standing. I cant issue my wife's death I already feel guilty for giving her a loveless marriage and only being able to give her my seed through anger. How could I ever just end my daughter's mother's life? I would indeed truly be a monster then.

My father stands handing me a rolled scroll.

"Take this. It's your directions where the elephant is being held. Take a few guards with you just in case we should not be fools and think we are untouchable." I nod taking it from his grasp and turning to leave. 

Annarose already awaits for me at the main doors. When I see her I quickly flash to her side. Her smile is so lovely it stirs within me I always have a smile in her presence unless she is sad then I feel saddened.

"Guard. You and two others come with us." I tell the guard by the door. He quickly leaves returning with three others one to take his place. I nod to them.

"Let's be on our way," I tell my wife as I take her tiny hand in mine. We head to the horse stables I help her upon a horse and get on behind her. We head off three horses running at full speed for we must quickly get there and back time is of the essence.

Upon arrival, I quickly notice this is no kingdom or palace. It was built for keeping monsters from escaping. We trod to the doors men coming out to lead our houses for water and grain.

"I was told you may arrive but it wasn't a certainty sorry my sir for not better greeting you on your arrival." An older vampire says coming straight out the gates then slightly bowing.

"It's fine. We are in a bit of a rush may we view the animal for a few moments alone after you show us its whereabouts?" I inquire wrapping an arm around my wife keeping her close and the guards taking both our sides.

"Of course sir follow me." We follow him inside the stench of s**t invading my nostrils is so much I start to even taste it. Disgusting. My wife's face looks a tad sickened the smell must be also disgusting to her.

"I don't suggest actually going in but observing from the gates sir they are quite dangerous animals." He suggests making me wonder just how big it must be and as soon as I see it I think with its massive tusks and huge feet it could smash us flat under its very feet.

"It's massively huge." Annarose mumbles in amazement breaking my hold and looking at the elephant at all angles while the older vampire scurries away.

"I've never seen an animal like it," She states aloud.

"It's very different indeed," I mumble looking between her and the beast.

We stand quietly while she examines and eventually closes her eyes listening to its sounds and movements even taking in the horrid smells. She opens her eyes and looks to me.

"Can I shift here? I need to do it at least once while all these things are fresh on my mind then I should be able on my own in the future if it's not too big to do such things." She questions. I walk over and kiss her lips gently. 

"We will step back over there. You'll stay in my sights. We must be quick not letting anyone see you and quickly departing to where you will be safe." I tell her strictly in a low mumbled voice. Leaning in I kiss her head and I and the guards retreat to a safer distance for her shift.

She waits until we are a safe distance away and gives me a reassuring smile before closing her eyes. After a minute or so the change happens so fast and before our eyes stand a Mammoth. No elephant she went straight for the beast we will need.

The guards gasp in astonishment beside me making me smile proudly at what she achieved. She is remarkable all the way around and there's nothing she cant do she's so strong-willed. She makes me only love her more for just the way she is in everything she does even the way she walks is beautiful. She was made for me and sometimes I can't even believe I was so blessed with something so perfect.

After a few more moments she shifts back and the force is so strong we all go sailing through the air into the wall behind us knocking the very air from our lungs.

"Are you alright?! I didn't know it would be so blasting!" Annarose panics kneeled down beside me in worry. I shake my head. 

"Were fine. We must quickly leave before attention is drawn upon us. It's too dangerous to stay much longer." Getting up I help her to her feet kissing her temple then quickly helping the guards to their feet. Their faces of shock make me chuckle. It always comes as a surprise to me when she shifts back as well the force is so great. This shift was massive indeed.

We quickly find the old vampire he has a young appearance but I can since his age he will live to always look in his early thirties though I can sense he is far older and wiser than his appearance. 

"We thank you for your kind hospitality. We must quickly be on our way." I tell him. He nods vigorously.

"Yes, we cant think your highness enough for helping our kind achieve such massive long-awaited goals for our future." He smiles and bows.

I think on his words on our travels back and can't help but feel my father's right. This is what our kind has waited for centuries for. Not to hide among others but to live proud of who we are. I wrap my free arm more tightly around my wife as her hair flies all around me her scent hitting me on a constant and I love every minute of it. I hope she won't someday hate me for what we will turn the world into. 

Our kind deserves better after so many years. 

When we arrive home Annarose is asleep her head resting back in the crook of my arm. I smile kissing her on the head. 

"Annarose baby you must wake so we can get down and go inside." She of course doesn't. She needs this rest. I flash down with one hand holding her back up and immediately take her down into my arms before she can fall. I chuckle at how out of it she is, sleeping so hard.

I carry her into the palace and my father waits not too far inside.

"Was it a success?" He mumbles his question. I nod.

"She turned into a Mammoth on her first shift skipped the elephant altogether." I chuckle smiling widely. He smiles widely as well and laughs at her cute unconsciousness. 

"I will take her to rest now father." I nod heading upstairs to her chamber to put her to bed. Katherine awaits in the hall having heard our arrival I suppose. She looks at Annarose in my arms then to me. My looks is probably more on the questionable side of her standing here in the hall.

"Will you come to my bed tonight since your back and will be leaving tomorrow?" She asks in a low soft voice. I sigh. I don't want to hurt her feelings or her. Annarose is unconscious. I look into her eyes softly stoping my movements to Annaroses chamber.

"I will come. Let me put Annarose to bed she needs rest." I inform her before heading on my way down the hall further.

Going into her chamber I lightly lay her down. Quickly I find her nightwear and undress and dress her for sleep. Going into the washroom I get a cloth and washbasin and quickly clean her up then cover her leaving little kisses all over her face. I don't want to leave her. I sigh frustratedly. Getting up I leave with heavy steps locking her door behind me. 

I flash to the nurse maiden taking care of my children. They are sleeping cutely beside one another as I requested to keep them close. No matter having different mothers I hope they will grow and love each other as siblings should. I kiss them and remind the guards on my out only my second wife's to enter in the night or I will take their heads and their families. Katherine should be in bed I cant trust her near my son.

I quickly flash to Katherine's chambers and she already lays in bed awake but it's dark. I slowly walk over and get in the bed feeling I need rest as well for tomorrow will be a long eventful day. Turning I wrap an arm around Katherine's waist and bring her to my chest. She wraps her hand around my forearm and I quickly let sleep take me.
