Chapter 8 - The problem with physical attraction

1845 Words
Anthony “Oh wow!” Lunar shouted excitedly. I just turned and walked right into the ocean. I knew Matt and Fiona were tailing Megan today because I was going to meet her and would not have an outsider's view of all corners. I seriously had to cool off before anyone saw my huge problem, screaming for our mate. Lunar was going nuts, and I almost lost complete control of both my wolf and my shaft. Could it even be possible that one short meeting could do that to a man? To me, Mr. always-in-control-cool-calm-and-collected? I swam into the cold water of the ocean, taking my time, trying my best to calm down. Even with her hiding her scent, I could still smell her, and she was magic. I had never been this close to her. It took me a couple of minutes to calm down before I returned to my car. I had to go to the hotel and shower before I could finally return to my shadow duties. Matt and Fiona had never seen their Alpha in this state and were crying with laughter after hearing I had to take a swim after our meeting! “Go on, get it out of your system.” When they wouldn’t stop, they got a growl and a “F@ck off, you two”. They gave me their report and returned to their hotel room. Lunar could not wait for them to leave. He had to see more of Meg. We had to get closer to her. Talk to her wolf. Just be near her, smell her, touch her, love her. She had become our addiction. Megan Who uses cold water in a steel bath? Nope! I realized that I actually wanted to take a cold shower and got sidetracked by my thoughts, so I filled the tub with warm water and bubbles, to try and relax my strained muscles. Every inch of my body was pulling or tightening in some way. I had been holding back satisfying myself since that day in the shower, and now my body was screaming in protest. The images of our mate kept creeping into my mind, and our arousal was growing by the second! Sam and Storm’s arousal combined with mine made us totally lose control. Thinking how his hands would feel running up and down my skin, and how smooth they would feel, how warm, how soft, until we could no longer take it anymore. “URGGGHHHH … ” Oh, for goddess’ sake! Being a writer sure as hell wasn’t helping me right now! What an impact our mate had made on us! We didn’t even know the man! Closing my eyes again, I tried to let the warm water relax my muscles, but all I could see was his face smiling at me. All I could smell was cocoa and musk! I felt the ache crawling into places it shouldn’t be! I always felt awkward with the intimacy part of being … Well, just being. Intimacy meant having to trust someone, and that I could never do that. Finally, feeling calm, I got out of the tub, dried myself, and decided to walk around the house, wearing only a towel. Surely, that should keep my hormones cool for a while. Intimate thoughts about him would certainly mean I would trust him with my life, and that would definitely be a serious problem … Being a romance novelist, I, however, sometimes needed that hot shower moment, or I would spontaneously combust. Okay, well, that also sounded … Never mind, you get the idea … Anthony I moved closer to the house, careful not to make any noise. Her sweet scent of arousal was unmistakable, almost making me charge through the front door like a cartoon wolf, whistling and popping my eyes out while my tongue rolled out on the floor like a red carpet. “What is mate doing?” Lunar frowned. I had to find out. She had me all twisted up inside, and I was breaking all the rules of being a shadow! I listened by the door to make sure she was not downstairs, hearing her heavy breathing coming from upstairs. My heart started racing. Lunar was clawing to get out, and I opened the front door softly. Sneaked upstairs, following her scent, I found her in the bath moaning. Her eyes were closed. Her mouth was slightly open, and her tongue licked her bottom lip. “We should be doing that!” Lunar protested. I had to move quickly to get out of the house, or I was going to walk into that bathroom, grab that mate of ours and show her what satisfaction looked like! “Calm down! You are driving me insane here, we shouldn’t even be this close to them!” That was it! I needed perspective! On the way back to our meeting point, I phoned Matt, and the next morning I was back in my office dealing with impossible clients. I tried my best to fill the hours with work, to get the images of our mate’s panties and her arousal out of my thoughts, and to clear my head before going back. I could not protect her properly while in this state. Her smile, which didn’t happen often, but when it did, caught me off-guard in her spider's web, and I couldn’t move … “PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, i***t!!!” “We are together, i***t; we just require our mate, then we will be happy!” Lunar pouted. “Lunar, you know why we can’t do that.” “I know, but we love her.” “I know.” I sighed for the umpteenth time today. Megan I woke up to a beautiful sunrise, stretching and yawning, only to realize I had left my towel lying on the bed and was now totally naked. I quickly covered myself as if someone was looking and ran into the closet to get dressed. “What in the hell is wrong with me? I’m not like this at home!” “The weather is really humid here, compared to at home, and sleeping naked is more comfortable.” Storm shrugged. “That’s no excuse!” After breakfast, I sat down at my desk and carried on writing. Sam and Storm were nagging us to go for a run, but I was worried that uncle Henry knew we were there and that it would not be safe. They finally convinced me after lunch that I needed to burn off some calories before I could sit down to write. I shifted as I left the house and ran into the forest. Storm asked to take control and with the way I was feeling, I freely gave her control. It was time to investigate what was happening in our territory. Storm was the strongest one of us. She was a Lycan. People always make the mistake of thinking that a werewolf and a Lycan are the same, but they are not. My mother was a werewolf, the daughter of an Alpha. My father was a pure blood son of an Alpha Lycan. Which gave me two beautiful companions. Storm was a lot bigger than Sam. She was a pure white wolf, with blue eyes glued together with rage and power. We ran first to the farthest end of our territory, where we knew there would be nobody checking our border, the way patrols should. Then we worked our way down and ran up to where we could smell Henry’s patrol parties. So typical! They had all this territory, but only patrolled around his house. What about the pack and their welfare? Storm growled and Samantha started clawing to also get out. If both had to bond, there would be no stopping them and I needed to first collect info before I decided on a plan of action. That was if I was going to act. If they did not know I was here, I would not see any reason to act. Storm growled at me. “That is our people! You cannot let them suffer like that!” I turned my back, took back control, and ran back home. I could not help but feel heartbroken, as I thought about what I saw at the so-called new pack house today. “I should not get involved!” I said out loud, hoping it would sink in that way. “They are our pack, Megan. It is our responsibility, like father taught us.” Samantha calmly said. “What do you know? You weren’t around when father was alive!! That is no longer our people!! They haven’t been our people since the day they decided to answer to him and pledge loyalty to him as their Alpha!!” I shouted back at Sam and she whimpered away. “Do not speak to her like that! You are hurting. We are all hurting. Do not make us turn on each other.” Storm was the voice of reason for once. I walked up to the terrace with my cup of coffee and sat on one of the rocking chairs overlooking the forest which divided the old from the new. I must have fallen asleep because I only realized what time it was when I heard the birds chirping, and I saw the light from the sun lazily seeping past the house. Deciding that I needed some proper sleep, I went to bed. Matt I had been watching Megan since Anthony left. She had always been part of our pack, without even knowing. She was our Luna. That was why I was not happy when I saw Storm patrolling the territory and running towards Henry’s territory. What were they up to? At least she kept our colleagues on their toes, trying to stay in the shadows. Anthony would not be happy when I told him what his mate was up to. We had extra shadows moving around the area after the last attack, but have not had any problems since. We had to be more careful than usual because Megan was well-trained by Alpha Phillip. Jake After running into that Black Wolf, things at uncle Phillip's old house changed drastically. Alpha told me to patrol the area. Mother said it was her choice because it would be the safest place for “her little prince”. Me? I was just glad I could laze around all day. Nothing ever happened at the old pack house. Until that blond lady arrived! Since then, everything has gone down the drain. I had been hiding in a cave in the mountains watching, too scared to report back to Alpha. He would probably kill me, and I was way too scared of that black wolf who would also kill me. I had to get back to the pack house. I had to tell Alpha that we had another wolf in our territory. But what if he killed me? I am sure mother would not allow that, would she?
