Stacey’s POV: I waited until the final voices had receded from the dining room, until the hotel itself seemed to exhale into silence. My heart was pounding so loudly that I knew someone would be able to hear it. I bolted back to my room, shed my rigid dinner clothes, and crawled into the first things I could find: loose sweatpants and a loose crop top that left my stomach bare. It wasn't sexy. It wasn't supposed to be. I just had to move to breathe. I cracked the door and peeked both ways down the hall—clear and good.
