Squeaking, Claire scampered towards her room, not reaching it before Bubbles pounced on her. She bit his paw and he drew back with a yelp, pausing in his chase. She scurried away, slipping under the door seconds before Bubbles ran into it. Facing the door, she huddled there quivering, the dog scratching and whining at the timber. Her phone, that had stopped ringing, began again. This was ridiculous. She couldn’t keep changing like this. Staring at her paw, she tried to stretch out, wanting to grow large again. Nothing happened. Glancing around the room, she spotted the mirror of her dressing table. It took a few minutes to figure out how to clamber up so she could see her reflection.
