Claire started to follow Nate, changing her mind and turning back for one last kiss. Grinning, she hurried after Nate, grabbing her schoolbag on the way outside, tugging her cap down low. She couldn’t help glancing in the direction where Roy had told her the Knights were hiding. It was an effort not to keep looking, but she didn’t want to give away that they knew Knights were hidden there.
They both remained silent until they were a couple of streets away from school. Nate placed his hand on Claire’s shoulder. “Thanks for including me in all this. Would you have told me if you hadn’t accidentally changed?”
“I’d planned to convince Roy after I showed him the picture.”
