Peter hesitated, reluctant to go to his father’s house, back into the gloom and despair that seemed to ooze out of every crevice. Wistfully, he watched Anne and Cune as they walked off, chatting with each other. He wanted to go with them. But lately, it felt as if there was a barrier between him and his friends. “I need to visit the brewery,” Master Nowak said. “Do you want to come along?” Peter had never been inside the brewery.
