Chapter 36 A howl wound its way into the nothingness that surrounded me. A howl, followed by Carl’s voice: “Who’s that?” “That’s my niece.” Aunt May was smug, as if she’d foretold Carly’s inability to survive on New York City’s streets for even a few minutes.
