All three MacKim books are set in the Seven Years’ War (the French and Indian War was part of the larger conflict) and share a theme of revenge. In the first two, Blood Oath and Edge of Reason, MacKim is the man seeking revenge, while in the third, A Sacrifice of Pawns, he is on the opposite side. MacKim would understand the concept, for personal and family revenge runs through Scottish history like a red thread.
