The apartment was too quiet, the silence amplified by the restless energy thrumming through my veins. I’d offered to pick Jasmine up from Mrs. Holmes, knowing Journee wouldn’t be home until late.
I was glad she was getting out, having fun, but as the hours ticked by, a knot of worry tightened in my chest. Texts and calls went unanswered, each unanswered ring fueling a growing unease.
