Chapter 14

– Threat from Family The base remained on high alert after the k********g attempt. Soldiers stood guard at gates, corridors, and towers. But that morning, a thin mist descended, carrying unexpected visitors. A grand carriage stopped at the gate. From it descended a middle-aged noble couple: Aunt Mei and Uncle Liang. They smiled sweetly, but their eyes held schemes. “Ah, finally we’ve found you, dear Hana…” Aunt Mei’s voice was sweet but sharp. Hana was shocked. She gripped Rei’s arm, body trembling, as memories of her dark childhood resurfaced. Rei stepped forward, standing protectively. His gaze was sharp. “What brings you here?” Uncle Liang smiled thinly, full of arrogance. “Family matters. Hana is our blood. We’re here to bring her back, as decreed by the extended family.” “No,” Rei’s voice was steady. “She is my wife.” Aunt Mei glanced at Hana with a sneer. “Do you think we believe in this shallow marriage? Hana was arranged to marry a noble. The family has agreed. You have no right to stop it.” Rei remained calm, voice cold. “However much you ask… I can pay double what that noble offered. Name your price.” Uncle Liang laughed loudly, shaking his head. “You don’t understand, young man. This isn’t about money. It’s about power, name, and family pride. Hana will return—by choice or by blood.” Hana finally spoke, tears brimming. “I won’t go back! I just want to be with my dear husband. Please… leave us alone.” Aunt Mei stepped closer, face icy. “Then listen well, Hana. If you don’t obey… everyone in this base will die. Including your husband.” The soldiers drew their swords immediately, faces red with restrained anger. “How dare you threaten us here!” one captain shouted. Rei raised a hand, signaling silence. His eyes on the aunt and uncle were like burning ice. “Leave now. I’m giving you one chance… before I turn your threat into reality.” Aunt Mei smiled coldly, turning elegantly. “Fine. We will leave. But don’t blame us if war begins. You’ve chosen the path of the enemy, Rei.” The carriage slowly drove away, leaving tension hanging. --- Night at the Base All soldiers gathered in the main hall. Faces stern, spirits high. The captain slammed the table. “Boss! What are your orders?!” Rei stood at the front, Hana by his side. “The enemy has declared war. They’re not just after Hana, but our honor as well.” The soldiers cheered loudly, spirits ablaze. “We will not lose!” “We protect the lady!” “For Boss Rei!” Rei clenched his fist. “We will fight them. This isn’t just a family feud… it’s a war between organizations.” Hana held Rei’s hand tightly, eyes full of worry. Yet deep in her heart, pride burned. Rei was not just her husband—he was an unshakable fortress. The great war was inevitable. – Shadow Assault Midnight Strike That night, the base was quiet, but tension hung thick. It felt like everyone was waiting. Suddenly, the moon was obscured by clouds. From the darkness, dozens of black-clad figures leapt onto the walls of the base. Their weapons glimmered—assassins. “The target remains the same. Capture the girl alive!” whispered the masked leader. As soon as they stepped on the ground, small explosions echoed. Click! Click! Click! From the darkness, Rei appeared. Standing tall, his gaze icy. In his hands was not a sword, but a sleek, black modern weapon—an advanced combat tool unseen in this world. “How dare you enter the lion’s den.” Without warning, the weapon fired beams of energy. Not ordinary bullets, but energy projectiles that pierced walls, destroying everything in their path. Every trigger pulled down an assassin. No mercy. The base soldiers charged to fight, but they realized something: Rei alone was enough. Bodies fell, blood stained the ground, yet none of Rei’s soldiers were harmed. All casualties were on the enemy side. --- Duel with the Assassin Leader The assassin leader advanced, furious. He drew a long sword coated in purple poison. “You’re not human… who are you really?!” Rei lowered his weapon briefly, then looked straight at him. “The one who will erase you from this world.” The fight erupted. Poison sword clashed with modern weaponry. Rei moved swiftly, dodging and deploying another tool: a glowing blue combat blade. Clang! Clang! The base shook from the collisions, sparks flying. The leader faltered, panic in his eyes as Rei slammed the blue blade to the ground, creating a massive c***k. “Impossible… what power is this?!” Rei pressed the blade to his throat. “Tell me who sent you, or die here.” The assassin leader gasped in terror. “…The noble… the fat noble… with the girl’s relatives. They toy with humans, selling and enslaving…” Rei’s eyes turned ice-cold. Without hesitation, he decapitated the leader. --- The Noble’s Trail Hours later, Rei traced the assassins’ path to a luxurious villa outside the city. Through the window, he saw a disgusting scene: the fat noble laughing with Aunt Mei and Uncle Liang. They sat on lavish chairs while dozens of human slaves served, humiliated like objects. Innocent Hana… nearly sold into this vile life. Rei clenched his fists, face expressionless. “So this is your true face.” --- Massacre at the Villa Without hesitation, Rei broke in. Noble guards fell one by one, energy bullets piercing them like paper. The noble screamed, trembling. “W-who are you?!” Aunt Mei shouted angrily, “How dare you attack the family!” Rei didn’t respond. He walked calmly, blue blade stained with blood. One by one, guards fell. Screams mixed with explosions and gunfire. Finally, only three remained: the fat noble, Aunt Mei, and Uncle Liang. “Rei! If you kill us, all nobles will brand you an enemy!” Uncle Liang cried, voice shaking. Rei approached, merciless. “You touched what is most precious to me. You think I care about titles and blue blood?” With a single motion, blood spilled. --- After the Massacre Rei stood in the villa, breathing calmly. The place was silent, only terrified but freed slaves left. He looked at them. “You’re free. Go, and never return here.” The slaves wept, knelt, then ran, leaving a building that now resembled hell. Rei gazed at the night sky, expression flat again. “I’ve eliminated one threat. But the war has only just begun.” – War Unavoidable The Fog of War News of the villa m******e spread like wildfire. Other nobles were furious. They didn’t just want Rei dead—they wanted Hana as a symbol of power. That night, the city sky filled with engine sounds. Dozens of hybrid-modern warplanes circled, ready to bomb Rei’s base. Noble troops, fully armed, surrounded from four directions. A noble commander shouted loudly: “Rei! Surrender Hana and your head! Or your base will be ashes!” --- Rei Rises Alone Inside the base, Hana clutched her bolster, face pale. Soldiers rotated guards around her, ready to die for their lady. “My dear husband… don’t… please come back to me…” she whispered, tears falling unconsciously. Meanwhile, Rei stood alone on the rooftop. The night wind blew his cloak. In his hands, a newly retrieved secret modern weapon—bigger, deadlier, like something from a future battlefield. His gaze calm, yet full of lethal intent. “Do you think I’ll surrender? You came only to die.” --- Old Allies Appear Suddenly, sirens blared across the city. Police forces appeared with armored vehicles. From another direction, specially uniformed troops raised the city flag. An old general stepped down, smiling at Rei. “We haven’t forgotten, Rei. You once led us against invaders. You are the city’s hero. Tonight, we fight with you.” Rei only nodded slightly. “Don’t protect me. Protect the civilians. The rest… I’ll finish.” --- The Battle Explodes BOOM! A noble warplane fired the first rocket, hitting the ground. Smoke and fire rose high. But Rei leapt into the air, shooting anti-air energy rounds. One plane exploded, falling in flames. “Impossible! He can shoot down planes with portable weapons?!” shouted a pilot. Rei didn’t stop. His movements were lightning-fast, destroying plane after plane. On the ground, police and army clashed with noble troops. Screams, gunfire, and flames turned the night into hell. --- Noble Mafia Massacre Rei stormed through enemy ranks, hitting relentlessly. Blood-stained energy blades, exploding modern weapons, each step left bodies behind. Nobles, usually arrogant, were now terrified. “He… he’s not human! He’s a war demon!” Yet Rei continued, coldly cutting through mafia forces who traded in humans and gambled with lives. One by one, their dark bases burned. Their screams were swallowed by explosions. --- Hana at the Base Meanwhile, Hana sat in bed, surrounded by guards. Her hands clutched her bolster, face wet with tears. “My dear husband… I know you’re strong… but please… come back to me…” Every explosion outside made her heart pound faster. She felt powerless, yet her trust in Rei never wavered. --- Decisive Victory By dawn, the city was silent. Noble bodies, mercenary corpses, and wrecked planes littered the ground. Rei stood in the middle of smoke, bloodied with enemy corpses, eyes still cold. “Anyone who touches Hana… will meet the same fate.” The soldiers and police bowed in respect. They knew, without Rei, the city would have long been destroyed.
