• Aurora • "You hate me! Don't you? No! I mean why would you do this! Dude, if you hate me so much just face me head on! Like-", I flinched as the sky roared, the rain poured down more harshly. I gulped and smiled nervously at the lady who eyed me disapprovingly, as if blaming the cause of sudden force of shower on me. Okay, I did talked down on him but not like he cares. I'm just a pathetic human who disses everyone and everything that I feel are unnecessary in my already crazy life. Why would the words of low life matter so much to HIM? That's insane. But the way this woman was glaring at me, I felt as if she was crucifying me in her brain. I chuckled and tightened my hold on the umbrella, shifting closer towards the lamp post. She rolled her eyes and looked ahead. The crowd around me was getting worse and this rain wasn't helping at all. It's f*****g January you stupid weather! Rain in January!? Please just stop f*****g raining! My socks are already wet. I hate when that happens. It's amazing how wet socks can change your whole f*****g mood. Like I was smiling all sunshines this morning and now I feel like I'm shitting in a gross public toilet. "Excuse me!", A guy ran past me, shoving me on shoulder. I stumbled over on my own feet, my umbrella went flying out of my hold and landed right in the middle of road because of harsh winds. I watched heartbroken as a bus drove right over my poor umbrella, crushing it like a mosquito. I glared at the man who literally killed my umbrella and grabbed the back of his hoodie when he was about to sit in the car that stopped for him. He twisted his head to look at me all flabbergasted. "Wh-What?" I snatched the closed umbrella from his hands, my grip at the back of his hoodie still chain like. "You pay for what you damage!", I spat out and shoved him towards the car. "I'm sorry.", He mumbled before getting inside the car. "You can keep it.", He said from the car window, referring to the umbrella in my hand. "You don't need to tell me that. It's already mine.", I plastered a fake smile on my face. The car drove away and I sighed. This day is downright the most horrible day of my life. I don't know why I took a bath this morning? Nature is doing very well in cleaning me even with my clothes on. Threading my hand in my wet locks, I attempted to get rid of the water. I sighed in relief when I saw the bus coming. The moment it stopped, I pushed past everyone and entered. As I sat down on a clean seat and breathed in satisfaction, an old lady glared at me as of I stole her dentures. I avoided her penetrating gaze and stared ahead. "Will you keep your umbrella to that side? It's wet and is ruining my shoes.", The girl beside me said and I forced a smile before thrusting the wet umbrella to my side after mumbling a sorry to her. My toes twitched inside the water bunched socks. I can feel the wrinkles and it's annoying. Groaning soundlessly, I tried to ignore the irritating feeling. My phone chimed and I drew it out of my leather handbag in a speed that can even put Superman to shame. All my soaring spirits went down as I saw the name of sender. I thought it would be him. He hasn't contacted me since that day. It's been three days now. I would be lying if I say that I'm not waiting for him to call me like a late school girl who's waiting impatiently for the bus. The evening he left, I cried rivers. I don't know what triggered the tsunami that poured out of me, but I had never been that miserable in my entire life. It felt as if I'd lost my reason to live. The feeling was painful and it was disgusting. I know it must be because of the mate bond, but I never knew it will be this agonizing. The next day my boss's call threatening me with my job got me back on line. I can't keep acting heartbroken when I wasn't even in love. I should just learn how to live with this until he finds any solution to completely destroy this madness. I shoot a reply of running late back to my best friend who had messaged me asking for my whereabouts. As the bus neared my stop, I got up and requested for the girl to put her legs out so I can leave. Saying her a thank you, I pushed the slipping handbag back on my shoulder and moved towards the exit. A slap on my ass stopped me and I turned, gaping at the high school boy who was smirking at me. Fishing out my phone, I grabbed his Identity card and snapped a picture of it. "Prepare for the worse, Kid.", I chuckled humorlessly before getting off the bus. I waved at him as he stared at me in complete horror from the moving bus. Scoffing, I turned and walked to the direction of my office building. Soon after entering, I closed the umbrella and patted on my wet clothes. The receptionist was eyeing me in disappointment as my drenched self made the shiny white floor brown and dirty. Not my fault! Wiping the water droplets from my neck and palms, I folded the handkerchief and tossed it back in my handbag. "Aurora!", I looked up baffled as Elijah came running towards me. "Wh-What? Why are you hopping like a kangaroo so early in the morning?" "It's ten am!" "Still early for me.", I waved my hand dismissively. "Okay, chuck that. We've to leave. Like right now!", He said patting on his camera bag and I felt like screaming in rage. I just came all drenched like a seal for crying out loud! I don't want to go through that s**t all over again! "Take someone else!", I said as I attempted to walk past him. He grabbed my elbow, yanking me back. I stumbled. "Tyler clearly mentioned you. And I don't want anyone else either. You'll come with me. And if you resist, I'll throw you over my shoulder and take you. Choice is yours." "You sound like a psychopath!", I sneered and turned on my heels, storming out with my umbrella open to keep me safe from the rain. "Your umbrella took the saying quite literally!", He chuckled falling in the step beside me as we stalked towards the office provided car that is reserved for our travelling during working hours. "What?", I frowned closing the umbrella and diving inside the warm and cozy black SUV. "It's raining cats and dogs.", He said pointing towards the design printed on the umbrella which had cats and dogs on it. "Oh. It's not mine." "What?" "Long story and I'm lazy.", I said tiredly. "As expected.", He shrugged before patting on the driver's shoulder to pull out. "Well, take this. Read every detail.", He said thrusting a file in my hand. "It's about an accident that happened this morning on Big Dig highway. A school bus was off to a field trip when it lost control and collided with a truck.", I winced as he fed me with the details. "Any fatalities?" "Four. The driver, two boys and a girl. Ten are heavily injured and rest mildly. Everyone is admitted at the nearby hospital.", He replied almost in a broken whisper. Elijah had lost his sister in a accident similar to this so I know it must be difficult for him. I can't understand his pain, but I'm glad that I'm here with him and not in my cubicle enjoying a cup of hot coffee. Hot coffee sounds good though. "Rest in piece you pure souls.", I whispered to myself, kissing the cross I wear around my neck. Yeah I know I don't get along with the alimighty that well, but that's just me being a brat. I love and believe in him. "What happened to your shirt?", Elijah pointed out and I looked at my full sleeved shirt. I groaned seeing a gaping hole on my left sleeve right above the elbow. The ripped part was dangling down, saved by fragile threads keeping both the parts together. I take that back! I HATE HIM. "Damnit! Just try to avoid capturing it in your camera.", I said and he snickered before nodding. After we reached, I applied some make up on my sleep deprived face before doing the story coverage. We then had to go to the hospital to grasp on the current status of victims and interview the kids who came out safe. It was awkward. I mean, asking the poor kids how they felt during the accident was like pushing them to relive the trauma. Sometimes I hate my job. It was already seven in the evening when we were done. "You wanna get drunk?", Elijah asked with a yawn after we slid inside the car. "It's office day tomorrow. Hangover doesn't sound tempting to me.", I rolled my eyes. "Why is it raining so much?", I questioned to myself as I stared out of window. "I asked the same thing this morning and you want to know what Bella said?" "Definitely something stupid but go on!", I chuckled. "God is keeping eye on everyone. The weighing scale measuring sin and virtue has gone down on the sins side. This heavy rainfall is him showing how angry he is. He is royally pissed and our end is closer. Blah blah blah!", He deadpanned. "I said that the reason of this heavy rainfall is rise in global warming and she went completely momma bear on me. Teaching me all rights and wrongs.", He sighed heavily. "Sometimes when she's taking nonsense like this, I feel like choking her." "Kinky.", I threw in and he glared. I raised my hands in mock surrender. "Now you tell me what's wrong with you.", He said twisting on his spot to look at me clearly. I grew flustered. "Wh-What?", I squirmed in discomfort. "You're behaving weird since New year's Eve. What's wrong?", His one brow c****d up. How do I tell you that I'm missing someone who never even belonged to me. Smiling, I shook my head. "It's nothing." "It's fine if you're uncomfortable to share. But if you want to get it off your chest, call me anytime. Or even our talking chipmunk.", He said referring to Bella. I chuckled. "She's a gossiper. But knows how to keep secrets when it comes to us.", He added and I nodded. "See you tomorrow.", I said when the car stopped in front of my apartment building. The moment I stepped out, my leg landed in a puddle full of mud reaching as far as my ankle. "I hate everything!", I groaned as I closed the door and stepped out of it before climbing up on the concrete pavement. "What?", Elijah scrambled to where I sat previously, looking amused at me from the window. "What was that?", He chuckled. "My life in a nutshell!", I snapped exasperatedly. "Good night!" "Good night, princess!" "Shut up, frog!", I screamed right back and heard him laugh before the engine purred into life and the car drove off. I was happy that I'll finally get to relax in my warm cozy bed when all my fantasies went down the drain as I spotted Hades in front of my closed apartment. I swear on my healthy poop this is the most pathetic day of my life! I took a deep breath and tried to control myself. Remembering how he had lied to me about everything is enough to blow up my steam. The bastard has the audacity to cheat on me and then say that he had just kissed. Oh I remember how his so called best friend came to me last night and told me everything. This fucker hadn't just kissed her but had done a lot more. Initially I thought she was lying, but she gave me a lot proofs to make me believe that she's saying the truth. The things he says while doing the deed, all marks on his body and how he comes in just thirty seconds. That was enough for me to know that she is indeed talking about my ex boyfriend who's not only a failure in bed, but also relationship. He was not just using me but also his childhood best friend. Damn these type of men makes me wonder how beautifully I would have castrated them if I had few murders forgiven. "What are you doing here!?", I hissed as I stormed ahead and digged the key into key hole. Opening the door, I entered and tossed my bag on the couch before turning around to face him. "At least let me in.", He said looking consciously to his left and right. "I'm planning to put a warning plate here.", I said caressing at the top of my door. "Dogs are allowed but not douchebags!", I hissed at him. "Now if you don't have anything to say, I'm closing the door.", I said, already moving to act on my words but he placed his palm on the door, stopping me. "Wait! Just hear me out. Please." "Bark." He looked pissed off but stayed silent. "Whatever Lara said-" "Is not true. She's trying to break us up. She thinks if you break up with me I'll choose her. But I only love you, Aurora. Don't you trust me? One chance is all I'm asking for? We've loved each other, we've been through a lot. C'mon, Aurora. We can't just forget and move on.", I completed for him with a b***h resting face. "Oh baby hold on, daddy is coming! Daddy is closer, sweetheart. Oh f**k! This is heaven!", I faked moaning, before rolling my eyes as I stared at his gaping face which opened and closed like a fish. "She told me everything, now off before I call the cops!", I snarled at him. "Dang!", He muttered. "Fine! I had s*x with her! You know why!? Because you failed to satisfy me! You're just so boring. But I'm still trying to protect our relationship! You know why!?" "Because you're a jobless pig who can't look past his video games! You think I don't know they fired you? I saw the letter and the circles you made on every job vacancy on newspaper. I stayed silent because I was waiting for you to tell me personally. But then you went and kissed someone. You're an addict who needs someone to pay for your food and rent. But b***h, I haven't adopted you to take care of your shits! Now if you tried to cross my path ever after today, I'll pull a restraining order against you! Get lost!", I yelled the last part and slammed door shut. I can't believe I wasted my two years on this asshole! One of my biggest mistake! I was still on the high horse of my temper when my phone rang. Grunting in annoyance, I fished it out of my handbag and answered the call before placing the device against my ear. "What!?", I snapped. I'm not on work anymore, there's no need to be polite if it's not my strict mother. "And here I expected a sweet hello. I'm disappointed.", A sweet voice, so velvety like a molten chocolate rang smoothly in my ear. I swear I melted. This is the best day of my life! _______
