Sage opened her drawer quietly, lifting the gun she had kept safely hidden there. She hadn't held a gun in a while, and she had thought she wouldn't need it in Ravenshire. She was jumpy and she couldn't help it. Tiptoeing gently, she went in the direction of where she heard the noise, the gun raised in front of her, trying as hard as she could to calm her breathing. She c****d her gun ready to aim when she saw the figure standing in front of her.
Astrid looked at Sage in shock and fear. What was she doing? Were they shooting innocent people now? She heard Sage c**k the gun. She couldn't imagine a bullet being buried in her skull. That wasn't what she signed up for. She had not thought she would have a gun pointed to her head this morning as she left her house, she stretched her hand forward as she called Sage, hoping she wouldn't be shot as she did so.
Sage moved her hands quickly when she heard her name, recognizing the voice, she had pulled the trigger, and she hoped that the bullet hadn't touched Astrid. Looking at Astrid worriedly. She scanned her body, breathing a huge sigh of relief seeing her standing whole and unharmed. She couldn't deal with another motionless body, and what was she going to say to the people in the department? She had been frightened due to an incident that had occurred earlier that day, and she had killed someone else? She had to get a grip on herself, she needed to put herself together.
Astrid heard the gun going off, she bent quickly, putting her head in between her legs, she had seen Sage had reached for the trigger and she knew her initial plan wasn't the best, squatting immediately before she could pull the trigger. Was Sage really making an attempt on her life, she heard Sage take a step backward, and lower the gun.
Taking a minute to be sure Sage wouldn't start another attack on her, she raised her head, standing up slowly, her eyes meeting. Sage's, she looked sheet white and she was shaking. What was wrong with her? Taking a quick look round the building, her eyes landed back on Sage. She was starting to get herself and she didn't look as white and scared as she did earlier, her mouth was moving, but she was barely audible,
“I am sorry, I….”.
She could hardly hear what she was saying, but she could read her lips, Of course she was sorry, she had to be, she had nearly killed her, she knew she was sounding harsh, but she had almost died, she was meant to be angry. Anger wasn't what she felt though, she was really terrified and she was sure she was as white as Sage had been some minutes ago. She felt Sage's hand on her now, apologizing, shaking her, before dashing out the door.
She stared at the door for some minutes, watching Sage silhouette through the window, turning her gaze to where the bullet had lodged imagining it being her head, taking it out, then heading to her desk, Sage had seen something and it was really bothering her, but she wasn't going to let it bother her, no one was around and she couldn't be more glad, but she still felt an inkling of fear at the pit of her stomach, remembering what had happened between her and Sage.
Astrid didn't realize she had dozed off till she heard movement, raising her head slowly, her gaze blurry she scanned the environment, her eyes landing on Liam Hemsworth, smiling shyly at him, then running her hand over her face to clean off the sweat that was dripping to her eye and residue from her mouth if she had drooled while sleeping, checking her time afterwards and looking round to see if the rest of the member's were there now.
She saw Gavin standing at a side of the room, looking worn out and tired. He looked how Sage had looked before the shooting incident, her eyes moving towards Sage section, it didn't look like she was back. She wondered where she was and she hoped she was okay.
Gavin was looking at her now, he started walking towards her, what did he want now, she was normally the unnoticed member of the team, why was everybody disturbing her today, why wouldn't they let her be, sighing quietly she waited patiently for him to reach her desk and say whatever it was he wanted.
He stopped at Liam's desk for a while before moving to her desk, giving her a short smile before asking if she had seen Sage.
“Have you seen Sage”, he had asked, barely audible.
She didn't know if she was to tell Gavin what had happened that morning. She didn't think it would be right though and she wasn't ready for any drama. She was also confused as to whether she should let him know that Sage had come here this morning or she should say she hadn't seen Sage at all today.
After much thought, she decided to tell him everything, besides he was going to see the hole in the door, and he would ask about it, and there was no way Sage could fix the door without the whole department knowing about it.
She felt shitty after she had told him everything. She didn't want people seeing her as a tattletale and she didn’t want to make Sage look bad, he didn't show any emotions though or act like he had heard every other thing she had said apart from the part where she said Sage had gone out. Nodding slightly, then dishing orders and saying something about not coming back till he finds Sage, he left the building.
Astrid was certain now that something was wrong, very wrong, and she couldn't place her mind on what it was.
She sincerely hoped it wouldn't have to do with something that would jeopardize her peace and serenity that she loved so much, and had made her fall in love with this place. Her mind was about drifting to how she had ended up here as a sheriff in training, but she didn't have the strength for that. Sighing, she looked around the building again, her eyes landing on Liam briefly. He was staring at her, like she was acting strange. She wasn't bothered though, she only hoped that whatever was disturbing Gavin and Sage, it wouldn't change the peace and pattern of the department and town at large.
