Chapter Four
I don't know what to expect when I turn. Lucas' sudden appearance caught my eye, and the tension between Gabriel and him was unbearable. But nothing, nothing could have prepared me for what I saw next. The figure standing at the door was not the first person I recognized. The ruling body is long and wide, all black. But it wasn't the clothes that made my blood run cold. The eyes. The eyes were piercing, curious. I was frozen. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move. My heart raced, pounding in my chest like a drum. Everything around me seemed to be silent, as if time had stopped. He's back. "Ryan?" My voice was a whisper and the name left my lips as if it didn't belong to me. Because I don't want to say more. Lion. My older brother. Someone I thought I would never see again but everything happened.
Someone who used to be close to me. Someone I didn't expect to hurt me, not the way he did. And here he is, standing in front of me as if he never left my life all these years ago. It is very different now. Darkness. His color was set in dark lines, his words unreadable. And look at his eyes? I can't put it better - it's cold, it's freezing, but underneath... it's something else. Which I don't quite understand. I went back, my body moved back from him.
"What are you doing here, Ryan?" I asked, trying to reassure myself, but the words didn't respond.
"I don't understand. What now?" Ryan didn't answer right away. He looked down on me, Lucas.
It was a short, quiet conversation between them, an understanding between them, which made the air heavier than ever. Then, this morning, Ryan's eyes returned to me.
"I came here because it's important for you to know the truth, Isabella," he said, his voice low, as if he was speaking through clenched teeth.
The anger is there. enough. But it wasn't told to me or anyone else, of course. He seems to be angry with the world. Anger and everything. I blew my head, I was ashamed. Is it true? What is the truth? What can I learn?
"Ryan," I said, continuing, my mind spinning, "What do you mean? The truth about what?" He didn't move, but I felt his eyes on me, weighing me down, hovering in a way I didn't like.
He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Gabriel stepped out of the shadows behind me. His steps were quick and confident, and he sat between Ryan and me, as if he were trying to protect me from anything that might happen. "I think it's time for us to go, Isabella," Gabriel said, his voice calm but still disturbing in his position, his hands at his sides. "You don't want to hear this." I don't know what to do. I want to hear, to know why Ryan came out, why Lucas stayed, why everything seemed to fall apart again. At the same time, there was something about Gabriela's personality that gave me pause. Which he didn't tell me. "I don't think you've made up your mind, Gabriel," Ryan said, his voice sharp, the words coming out like swords. "This has been a long time coming." Gabriel's eyes cleared and looked at me, his eyes filled with a mixture of worry and something darker. I don't know what to do. But before I could, Ryan moved on, fast and bold. "I think it deserves the truth, Gabriel," Ryan said, his voice cold, but something soft underneath. Sad, maybe? Angry? I can't speak. It's like he's holding something. "What's the truth?" I asked, my voice rising in frustration. "What are you talking about?" He Riain didn't answer. Instead, he stared at Gabriel, his eyes never leaving me. His eyes were strong, very strong. My heart is pounding and I try to make the anxiety go away, but it seems like a weight is weighing me down, which hurts me.
"Isabel, you are not as beautiful as you think," said Riain, his voice so quiet that I did not notice it. “You know exactly what's going on. You don't want to.
" I don't know what you're talking about," I said, my voice shaking despite my efforts to cry. "You two are still talking, but I don't understand what you're saying." Riain sighed, his voice full of sadness, as if he expected this reaction. "You don't remember, do you?" he asked, his voice almost sad.
"You've been running for so long that you forgot." "What did you forget?" I asked, and now I want an answer. But Ryan was silent for a moment, as if he was suggesting to tell me. His eyes flicked to Gabriel, then back to me. The conflict between them disappears, as if something unsaid, something buried deep, each of them is not ready to reveal.
"Maybe you're not ready," Ryan finished, his voice barely above a whisper, as if he were talking to himself. "Maybe you're not ready yet." I'm blown away, I can't accept that. "Tell me," I pressed, walking closer. "Tell me you know." The pause was long and heavy, as if the house was closing in on me. Then, finally, Ryan spoke again, his voice so quiet that I had to pause to catch him. "You are not who you think you are, Isabella." I stopped breathing. .
The words echoed I couldn't run them. I couldn't understand them. "What does this mean?" I whispered, taking a deep breath, my mind a mess. Ryan took a deep breath and prepared himself for what he was about to say. Then he met my eyes, a look that was a mixture of sadness and determination. . I was back, dizzy. "What are you talking about? What are you talking about?" But before Ryan could respond, give me the answer I craved, we were stopped by the screeching of a car outside. A few seconds later, the door opened. Standing in the doorway was someone I hadn't expected to see. Someone who shouldn't have been there. Yes. Gabriel's brother. "Isabella, we need to talk." And just like that, my world was thrown into chaos again. .
