Lily stood outside of Omar’s door and found she couldn’t cry anymore. The time for crying was over and this was just another task to be done. She had once hated her comfy life at home even though her step-mother treated her badly, but she longed for nothing but that life now. No matter. She was here and she had to accept it. She knocked on the door and heard Omar’s voice so the guards let her pass through. She walked in to see Omar plunging himself into Isabella, who was wrapped around his muscular frame. She swallowed hard. Next to them was a girl with ebony skin, green eyes, and long, red hair.

Omar turned to her. “Come closer, little mate. I need you to see this up close.”

Lily begrudgingly stepped closer and her wolf for once had nothing to say. They were both done. She hated Omar with a passion and she decided then and there that one of them had to go, but not without a little retribution, first. She watched as Isabella smirked as she grabbed onto him and stared at her. She forced herself to watch. Omar grabbed Juliette and placed her above Isabella so they could make out and placed her bottom in the air. He looked at her as he stroked his member and she shuddered at what it made her do. The kitchen was eerily quiet at night when Lily snuck in. It was usually bustling with women in the daytime trying to feed hundreds of people. She couldn’t see anything, so she lit a candle and was startled to see a girl of no more than 12 sitting in the moonlight. “Oh, you scared me!”

The little girl looked to be mixing a pot of something. “I’m sorry, Luna. I didn’t mean to do that. Please don’t beat me.”

Lily walked closer to her. “I would never do that. What’s your name, pup?”

The girl looked up with wide eyes. “It’s Nala.”

“What are you doing here so late?”

“I didn’t finish my task for the day and the Mistress will be upset with me if I don’t do it.”

Lily brushed her hair. “Maybe I can help.”

“I’m done. I need to get back to my chambers.”

“To your parents?”

The girl hesitated. “We were taken from our parents.”

“Do you have another sibling here?”

Nala nodded. “I do. Her name is Zinewe.”

“And where is she?”

“She’s in the Alpha’s harem.”

Lily was taken back. “How did that come to be? Was she taken from your parents to be in his harem?”

Nala shook her head while looking down. “No, we were both kitchen workers. One night, it was just the two of us in here and the Alpha came in and didn’t see me. He saw how beautiful she looked and he had his way with her and told her she had to go to the harem. I wanted to help her, but she made a sign for me to keep quiet. She was only 15.”

Anger boiled through Lily’s stomach and she couldn’t wait to put her plan in action. One way or another, one of them would be dead and this Goddess-forsaken mate bond would be broken. “Run along, then.” The girl did as she was told and Lily found a sturdy knife to take back to her room. Lily planned to hide it in Omar’s room the next time he asked for her and she would always have it in case he fell asleep. She knew she would not be able to overpower him in her human form and had to wait for the right timing. If she could get Isabella, that would be icing on the top. She was done with tears at this point.

As Lily entered her room, a hand covered her mouth and grabbed her around the waist. Lily remembered the knife in her pocket and took it out only for the intruder to grab her wrist and make her drop it. She hated that she was so weak with the silver around her neck. The man put a gag in her mouth and dropped her to the floor.

It was Javid! Javid glared at her. “I’m taking you. If you cooperate, I’ll let you take whatever you want, but if you don’t, we’ll just leave. Got it?”

Lily nodded. Jade wanted to come out and claw his face. Javid undid her gag and Lily spat out, “I want Inez.”

Javid looked incredulous. “No. I’m not taking her.”

Lily stood up. “I will do what you say if you take her. If you don’t, I will be much harder to deal with.”

Javid smirked. “You’re okay with leaving your mate and lover willingly?”

Lily pointed to the knife. “That was for him! He may be my mate, but I don’t want to be here. Inez is right next door. Let me go to her and we can leave.”

Javid nodded and Lily quickly packed a knapsack and went into Inez’s room. Inez was sleeping, curled up in a ball on her bed. Lily gently woke her up and she was wide-eyed as she saw Lily in her room. Lily touched her cheek. “It’s okay. Javid is going to take us out of here. Do you want to come?”

Inez was frozen in fear. “They will get us. No one escapes.”

“You can stay, it’s okay. I wanted to give you the option to go with me. I didn’t want to take you against your will again.”

Inez relaxed a little. “I go where you go, Luna. You saved my life.”

Lily hugged the girl and the two got ready and met Javid in the hallway. He motioned for them to be quiet as he led them out through a series of tunnels with a torch to light their way. Lily could feel the fear rising up through Inez and she squeezed her hand to let her know that it would be all right. Javid placed the torch on the wall and climbed up a ladder and hoisted a large door covering the ceiling. He dropped back down into the tunnel. “This is where it’s going to get though. The guards on duty will notice us for sure and follow. I’m going to go first and shift into my wolf. Then you two will come up and get on top. Hold on tight and I’ll get you out of here. If one or both of you don’t make it up in time, you will be left behind.”

Javid climbed out of the hole and disappeared. Lily looked at Inez. “You go first.”

Inez shook her head. “My Luna goes first!”

Lily gave one last look at Inez and climbed up the ladder. She saw a magnificent reddish-brown wolf before. She climbed on and held onto his mane. They both looked towards the hole and she could feel the wolf pull away. Lily tugged on his fur. “Give her a moment.” The wolf obeyed and she held her breath as she waited.

Finally, Inez appeared and shouted. “They found us!”

Lily reached out her hand to Inez. “Not without you. Come on!”

Inez grabbed onto her forearm and Lily swung her on behind her. The reddish-brown wolf took off and Lily was almost thrown back as she fought to hold on for dear life. Inez held her and buried her face into her back while the sounds of the guards quieted in the distance. They could hear the howls of wolves gaining on them and it sent a chill down Lily’s spine. She could not get caught. She could not fail Inez. This had to work. Lily looked back and could see two wolves on their trails while a few were in the distance. A large black wolf and a gray one inched closer and closer and she didn’t know if they were going to make it. They had made it almost out of pack territory to the desert when the black wolf pounced on them and toppled Lily and Inez to the ground.

Javid’s wolf turned around and snarled at the black one. Lily took Inez’s hand and ran away, but the gray wolf caught up to them and stood menacing them. The wolf advanced on them and Lily shieled Inez, sorry for not getting her out. As the wolf lunged at them, a dark brown wolf caught the gray wolf in the air and collided with him. Lily looked towards Javid and saw a dark gray wolf fighting alongside the reddish-brown one. Lily estimated they had only a few moments until the rest of the pack caught up to them. Javid’s wolf and he dark gray wolf easily took down the black one and ripped him to pieces, joining the dark brown one in subduing the gray one before them. Javid’s wolf easily snapped his neck now that his two friends distracted him.

Lily looked as the dead wolf turned back into human form and she saw it was Zeke. She closed her eyes and asked the Goddess to take his soul. Javid’s wolf nudged her and she got on his back while Inez got on the dark wolf’s back and the trio of wolves ran through the desert under the light of crescent moon. Lily looked back and didn’t see anyone else coming. Would Omar cross pack lines to get his mate back? How far would she have to go to escape him? They made it to a ramshackle hut and the three wolves transformed back. It was night time, but Lily could clearly see that Javid wasn’t a eunuch. In fact, his large member hung freely between his legs and she couldn’t stop gaping.
