Erin's POV
Rowan blinked, his honeyed eyes looking glazed from the drugs keeping his pain at bay. They were also clearly making him delirious considering he wants me to apologize for what happened before he left on his “business” trip.
Silence stretched between us, and the stale, sterile air of his hospital room made everything that much more real. Antiseptic lingered like a ghost and the scent of bitter coffee from the nurses station made my stomach roll.
“You know what….” I started at the same time he began speaking, “I wanted to surprise you since I was home early,” he shook his head. “I’m sorry, Rin. Please forget what I just said. My head is a jumbled mess, and my thoughts are a bit scattered.”
