Erin’s face appeared calm and collected on the surface, but her pupils dilated, something that someone unseasoned in spotting bullshit wouldn’t see; But unfortunately for her, I was a pro.
“I already explained that to you,” her tone was laced with tension. “He had to work.”
“So did I,” my brow arched, a s**t-eating grin spreading on my face. The look in her eyes was intoxicating, spurring me to keep pressing. “I was actually in the middle of something incredibly important when I received the news that my swimmers got mixed up with your husband’s,” I slid my tongue along my upper row of teeth, smirking. “Dropped everything and rushed straight to the clinic.”
