TWENTY Law firms, like lawyers, have personalities. Some exude pomposity and self-importance. Clues include ostentatious reception areas, high-priced artwork on the wall, and an abundance of dark paneling. A visitor to such a firm knows the moment he steps off the elevator that he’ll find a stuffed shirt clad in a suit, coat on, behind every desk. Others tend more to pretense, with modern conveniences, high-tech offices, and lots of chrome and glass. They still have high-priced artwork on the walls, of course, but less traditional motifs.
