TWENTY-EIGHT Frank Oliver stood and shook hands with Mac. After his initial shock at finding out one of his attorneys was a woman, Kelly felt he had come to realize that she knew what she was doing. Still, she couldn’t help but be a little disconcerted to see him so welcoming of this old graybeard lawyer. This old male graybeard lawyer. She could tell he was still not entirely satisfied with placing his liberty in the hands of someone she thought he considered a little girl. “MacIntosh,” Frank said. “Call me Mac.” Frank nodded but remained standing. “Go ahead and sit,” Mac said. “The D.A. has agreed to recommend bail at a million dollars. The judge will probably approve it, and he can hear us today. You’ll need to come up with ten percent of that and pledge collateral for the balance.
