Doctors Chen and Feinberg were there, along with Kelly and Mac, and a third psychiatrist, Dr. Carl Arnold, a colleague of Feinberg’s who was trained in hypnotism. Frank Oliver initially balked at the idea of submitting himself to hypnosis then quickly agreed when Mac reminded him of his threat to withdraw if Frank didn’t go along with his every decision. Mac didn’t think the judge would allow him to withdraw at this late date, but what Frank didn’t know – and as a civil lawyer, Frank was woefully ignorant of criminal law procedures and precedents – wouldn’t hurt him.
