6.Dark Moon Clan

"If everything goes as planned, yes," Andrew replied indifferently, as if he were taking over a regular job rather than a massive conglomerate. Ryan let out a soft snort, continuing with a half-mocking tone, "It seems your father Mr.Jacob hasn't lost his mind yet. Handing the company over to you is much better than letting it fall into the hands of his grandson. If he gets it, he'll squander it all within ten years." The lycanthropes of the Dark Moon Clan had hidden within the human world centuries ago. Due to the interbreeding with humans over the generations, the lycanthropic blood had gradually thinned, and many descendants of lycanthropes couldn't even shift into wolves. However, the Turner family was different. Andrew's father had decreed that the public wolves of the Turner family couldn't mate with humans, and as a result, Andrew and his siblings had pure lycanthropic blood. The Turner family was a powerful clan, deeply involved in politics and business, and held a prominent position. Their foundation was their vast assets. To prevent inter-family conflicts over the wealth, the Turner family had a rule that the eldest son or eldest grandson would inherit the company. Andrew had an elder half-brother, Thomas Turner, who was twenty years his senior. When Andrew first interned at the company at the age of eighteen, he demonstrated an extraordinary talent for business. His projects under his management all met with great success. This stirred up a significant sense of threat within Thomas. So, he expelled Andrew from the country. If it weren't for Thomas being diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer a year ago, Andrew wouldn't be back in the country now. Thomas had a 25-year-old son, Henry. In principle, Thomas was supposed to appoint his eldest grandson as the successor to the family business since he was the eldest. However, due to Thomas's cunning nature, he had spoiled his son, and Henry had turned into a debauched young man who squandered his life. Consequently, Andrew naturally inherited the family business and became the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack. Seeing Andrew's nonchalant attitude, Ryan couldn't help but issue a warning, "Alpha, Mr.Jacob is cunning, and using you as a stepping stone to pave the way for that grandson isn't out of the question. Besides, your older brother with one foot in the grave definitely won't give up easily. Be careful not to be his pawn; he might be planning something for you." With one hand toying with a delicate lighter, Ryan looked excited, seemingly eager for whatever was about to happen. "Ryan, do you know there's a saying: Revenge is a dish best served cold," Andrew said with lowered eyelids, gazing at the blue flames in his palm as if they were burning in his blue eyes. It had been a full decade since Thomas had used dirty tricks to force him out of the country. "Yeah, what do you want to do?" Ryan asked with enthusiasm, as if he was looking forward to whatever might happen. Andrew lit a cigarette using the lighter and let the smoke drift between his fingers, his profound gaze seeming contemplative. Then, his phone rang, and as he answered, his eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Asher has a bit of diarrhea; I need to go back." After hanging up the phone, he said. Ryan waved him off, indicating that he should leave. "Alpha, you make quite the responsible father." When they first learned that Isabella was pregnant, the fetus in her belly wasn't even six months old, and terminating the pregnancy forcibly wasn't out of the question. Given Ryan's understanding of Andrew, he had believed that Andrew wouldn't want the child. But he had surprisingly allowed Isabella to go through with the pregnancy. This outcome was indeed somewhat unexpected. A human girl gave birth to the Alpha baby of the Turner family. God knows how much of a sensation this incident will cause. As Andrew picked up his suit jacket draped over the back of the sofa, a pre-written check inadvertently fell out. Ryan bent down to pick it up and, upon seeing the amount, curiously asked, "Where did this small check come from?" "It's the allowance given by Arthur's mother," he said nonchalantly. Ryan chuckled and said, "I never thought the Alpha had the potential to be a kept man." Andrew couldn't help but smile; this human mate of his was a lot more interesting than he had originally imagined. -------------- Isabella felt content after obtaining leverage against Connor, but when she returned to the Harris family home, her mood turned sour. Upon entering, a crystal ashtray was hurled in her direction. If she hadn't dodged quickly, it might have shattered her face. The crystal ashtray struck the wall, and shattered pieces littered the floor. "i***t! Did you mess with your sister's belongings?" David's rage was shaking the very ceiling. Isabella stopped a few steps away from him, showing no signs of being intimidated. "Dad, I have no idea what you're talking about." "David, now is not the time to lose your temper. Let's talk to the child properly," Charlotte consoled David before approaching her. "Isabella, Auntie wants to ask you, have you seen your sister's jade bracelet?" "I haven't seen it. Auntie, if there's nothing else, I'd like to go upstairs and rest," she said, circling around Charlotte, seemingly headed upstairs. "Then it's strange; does that bracelet have legs to walk on its own? Grace, Ava, have you searched thoroughly?" Charlotte asked, stamping her foot. "In response to Madam's query, we've searched all over the house, except... Miss Isabella's room," maid Grace replied with her head bowed. Isabella had already stepped onto the stairwell, but upon hearing this, she turned back and frowned. "Grace, what are you trying to say?" "Isabella, I know, James and Emily are engaged now, and it must be hard for you. But matters of the heart are never straightforward. Your sister didn't have a choice." "Matters of the heart? Grace, I remember you said the same thing to my mom back then. So, under the guise of love, one can freely harm others, destroy marriages and families, and mistresses love to use 'love' to cover up their shamelessness. Don't you feel it tarnishes the word 'love'?" Isabella looked Charlotte in the eyes and spoke without any politeness. She would never forget how heartbroken and desperate her mother was when she learned about her husband's betrayal. Charlotte's expression contorted slightly, and David slammed his palm on the table. "Insolent! Is this how you speak to your elders?" "Dad, please don't scold Isabella. It's true that James and I have wronged her. However, those jade bracelets were passed down through generations in the Brown family. If I lose them, how can I explain it to James's parents? He would be mad at me as well..." Emily wiped away her tears. "Isabella, please think carefully. Did you take them to play with and then return them to your sister? If you like jade bracelets, your sister's vanity case has a pair of good-quality ones, and she can give them to you." "Isabella, please stop being stubborn. Quickly hand over the bracelet. Look, your sister is so worried that she's crying," Charlotte chimed in. This mother-daughter duo accused Isabella together. David had already concluded that she had stolen the bracelet out of jealousy because of Emily and James's engagement. "No more talking to her, search for it. Once you find it in her room, I'll see what else she has to say." With David's command, a group of people swarmed into Isabella's room, and several maids ransacked her belongings. She stood at the door, powerless to stop them and seemingly having no intention of stopping them. "We found it! We found it!" Shortly after, Grace found a jewelry box in her bedside table drawer. However, when the box was opened, it contained only several shards of jade; the bracelet had been shattered. "My bracelet!" Emily exclaimed in shock.
