Three days later, the package arrived.
Phoenix and Jayce were hiding in a motel outside Sacramento. The rest of the team had scattered. Captain Vasquez to a military hospital. Dr. Park to an underground clinic. Everyone laying low. Waiting.
The package was delivered by courier. No return address. Just a black box with their names on it.
Phoenix opened it carefully. Checked for explosives. Traps. Nothing. Just contents.
Inside was a tablet. A note. And a vial of clear liquid.
The note was handwritten. Elegant script.
