Chapter Five Torin ripped himself away from my body. The sudden loss of his heat made me gasp in the freezing air. He did not hesitate for a single second. He scooped me up off the slushy ground and shoved me behind the broad trunk of a massive pine tree hiding my naked body from view. Stay completely silent Torin ordered. His voice was no longer the gravelly tone of a lover. It was the absolute command of an Alpha preparing for a bloodbath. He shifted. It happened in the blink of an eye. The beautiful naked man melted into a terrifying midnight black beast. He stood guarding the tree his golden eyes locked on the dark tree line. He bared his razor sharp fangs and let out a warning snarl that shook the snow from the branches above us. Three massive wolves stepped out of the shadows. They were not like Torin. Their fur was graying and matted over thick twisted scars. These were the Elders of Obsidian Ridge. They were the ancient brutal warriors who ruled the pack before Torin took over. And their eyes were locked dead on me. The largest of the three a monstrous gray wolf with a torn ear shifted back into a human. He was an old man covered in battle scars but his muscles were just as thick as Torins. He glared at me with absolute murderous hatred. Step aside Torin the old man spat. His voice sounded like grinding stones. You have brought a Bloodwood disease onto our lands. We will cleanse the territory of her stench immediately. Torin did not move a single inch. He let out another deafening roar snapping his jaws right at the Elders face. He was clearly telling them to back down. She is not a disease Torin suddenly shifted back to his human form standing tall and completely naked between me and the Elders. He did not care about his exposure. He only cared about shielding me. She is my fated mate. And she carries the True Alpha bloodline. If you touch one single hair on her head I will s*******r every last one of you. The old man laughed. It was a cruel ugly sound that made my stomach churn. A True Alpha the Elder mocked pointing a thick scarred finger at me. She is the Bloodwood Omen. She is the runt they threw away. Her blood is poison. You are blinded by the mate bond boy. The pack law states any trespassing Bloodwood wolf must be executed on sight. I am the Alpha Torin roared his golden eyes flashing dangerously. I am the law. Not tonight the Elder sneered. Without another word the old man shifted back into his monstrous gray wolf form. He did not attack Torin. He lunged straight for the tree trying to bypass Torin completely to get to me. The other two ancient wolves flanked him coordinating a lethal strike meant to rip my throat right out. Torin intercepted the first wolf colliding in a brutal spray of blood and snow. He tore into the gray wolfs shoulder throwing him back. But the other two were too fast. The largest Elder leaped over Torins back his jaws wide open aiming straight for my face. I screamed and threw my hands up to protect myself. But his teeth never touched me. The moment I raised my hands the raw crushing power of my awakened bloodline exploded out of my chest again. It was not the burning heat of arousal this time. It was pure terrifying dominance. The sheer force of my True Alpha aura hit the massive gray wolf like a freight train in midair. He slammed backward into a boulder with a sickening crunch. He hit the ground whining and scrambling trying to get up but he could not. My power pinned him flat against the dirt forcing him into total submission. The other two Elders froze. Even Torin stopped fighting his chest heaving as he stared at me in total shock. I stepped out from behind the tree. I was freezing and shivering but I felt an unbelievable strength surging through my veins. I looked down at the whimpering ancient wolf pinned by my invisible weight. The Elder stared up at me his eyes wide with a sudden horrifying realization. That aura the Elder choked out blood dripping from his muzzle. I know that aura. You are not just a True Alpha. You are the daughter of the wolf we murdered. My blood ran completely cold. What did you just say I whispered my voice trembling with sudden fury. The Elder coughed laughing weakly. Your parents did not die of a plague little wolf. We slaughtered them.
