Chapter 28: Missing children (Part 5)

Now that we defeat all the kidnappers. Taki and I proceed on saving the girls inside the wood log. Lifting the logs we saw the girl's body inside.

Using some water from the cabin we wake them up all up.

“I’m saved! Thank you so much! Thank you!”

“We can go back to our family.”

“We’re very grateful for your help.”

They said with a tone of appreciation. But after opening all the logs. The girl that we’re looking for can’t be found anywhere.

What’s the meaning of this? If Taki is kidnapped then she must be inside of these wood logs.

I became troubled and tried to double-check each log but it’s no use. Turning my glance to Taki. Taki also looked puzzled at the turn of events.

“Where is Taki?”

“Are you searching for your friend?”

One of the kidnappers is still alive. His full of injuries and his head is bleeding. This is the guy that grabbed my arms earlier. Seems like he didn’t die after being crushed down by these wood logs.

He then continues.

“We did deliver some kids earlier before the sunsets. If your friend is not there then she must be one of those girls sold off earlier. That girl is very unfortunate, the people that bought them are extremely shady. A mad scientist draining very once of magic inside the human body takes them.”

“What did you say?”

“It’s the scientist who bought 50 children earlier. If the experiment was already conducted then there is no way you’re friend was still alive at this time… Hahahahaha.”

Stepping closer to the man. I curled my fist and reinforced it with magic.

Punching the man with my full strength I smash his face down.

“What so funny about that?”

I said seriously.

Taki seeing me snapping out was astonished for a moment and the little girls look at me with worried eyes.

“A-Are you really kid?”

“Tell me where is that scientist?”

The man remain silent for a moment and grinned.

“Like hell that I will tell you.”

I punched him down second them this time. After him remaining silent. I punch him over and over again. Blood was spilled and the face of the man was unrecognizable anymore.

I guess I have to finish this man off.

Before I landed my fist.

“I tell you, please! Let me live! I’ll tell you! It’s in the mountain cave nearby. The scientist's secret laboratory is no the mountain nearby. It’s the only cave in the mountain so you’ll definitely find it soon. So please spare my life.”

The man begs for his life.

“What are you going to do Laura?”

“I’ll be heading to the said cave. To save Taki… Taki is a strong girl. She will definitely survive whatever happened to her. I believe in her.”

Taki smiled and look at me.

“You’re totally unbelievable Laura. You just met her just on another day but you totally wanted to protect her from the deep bottom of your heart… I envy that, I guess I should learn things from you… For now, I’ll be escorting these girls back to the city. I’ll follow you with some reinforcement later.”

“I’ll be counting on you Taki.”

I said and make a thumbs up.

After that, Taki helped the girls back in the city. Meanwhile, I go to the mountain and search for the cave. There is indeed a huge cave seen in the mountain.

I enetered the cave and tightly grabbed my sword. I can’t let my guard down in a place like this. I learned my lesson on dark mansion already.

Inside the cave started to get colder and colder. The breeze inside the cave is too much. The floor is already covered by thick snow.

While waking deeper and deeper in the cave.

I encounter a kid his full injuries and seems to be thrown out. I run to the kid and rescued him.

I don’t have anything with me how can I really help this kid.

While I’m holding his thin and frail body he tried to speak up.

“H-Help… My friends… P-Please helps them.”

He said while seemingly reaching on me as he stretched his hand. I hold his hand and just smile at him.

“I’ll be saving them… I’ll do my best to save them all I promised. For now, you should outside to warm your body. I’ll be back after few moments.”

I carry the boy's body outside the cave and go back inside the cold cave.

I hurried and goes deeper and deeper.

I reached the light and saw a bunch of kids tied up and unconscious. Looking around I immediately spot the pink-haired girl.

“Yumi!”

“Huh? Who is this unexpected visitor?”

Currently, Yumi is battling inside the cave. A girl wearing a thick coat and hood. This girl must be the snow magic user that causes the snow.

I knew it, Yumi is not some who will let his kind of this kill her. She will definitely fight.

“Laura! Thank goodness. I’m about to reach my limit here. This girl is quite strong.”

“One of you're friend… I’m surprised someone so freaky like you had a friend. You red-eyed monster. But that doesn’t really fix anything. Because I’ll be defeating both of you here.”

Blizzard was created and blows in our direction. Yumi was blown away by my direction. Making us both fall.

“Snow magic: Snow friend golem!”

A snowman golem was created from the blizzard and attack us with its fits. Taki turned her body immediately and using her hammer she smashed its arms and destroy the snow golem immediately.

Yumi sure is strong, but she looks very exhausted to this point. Maybe it’s because she only relies on melee fight. Being unable to go closer to the opponent is one of her weaknesses.

I tapped Yumi’s shoulder.

“It’s my turn this time.”

“Laura.”

“I won’t let this evil lay hands to my friend.”

“Big words for a little girl, but we are not something you should underestimate… Snow magic: Snow golem Army!”

From the snow beneath us. Dozen of snow golems imerges. It’s is twice as big as the one before.

I pointed my sword to the golems and then charge in.

“I won’t lose!”

Wind skill: Wind blade!

I sliced the snow golem immediately and one attack. The golem after being defeated rose once again and dashed toward my direction.

“Beat her up my creations!”

Defeating one or two will not make the difference in this battle. The snow golem is spawning faster than I’m killing it. I need to change my battle plan.

I crouched my legs and put my sword back on its sheath.

This is the fourth skill Koyuki teach me. I pulled my sword and slashed.

“Wind skill: Whirlwind!”

Rotating my body and spinning like a tornado. I was able to create a tornado that sliced the snow golems in one attack. The tornado I created also makes the snow in the surrounding area go away.

Now that there is less snow. She can’t create more snow golems.

“What's with you? I can feel overflow magic residing inside of you… If I manage to capture you. You're going to produce us lots of money.”

Said the woman.

I don’t know what the girl implying but it must be something horrible. Then I remember what the kidnappers said earlier. The scientist here is having an experiment to drain the magic of the children.

“Are you the scientist?”

“I’m just her assistant the scientist so out to do something. I don’t know when exactly. But I’m really looking forward to capturing you with my own two hands. We will drain your magic until nothing is left anymore inside of your body.”

While she is enjoying her chatting. I charge toward her and swing my sword. Smashing her body to the rock wall.

“Wind skill: Wind force!”

“Gwaaa!”

After receiving my attack she kneels and throws up blood. She then lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

“I won’t let you warm me or this kid. I made a promise after all.”

Yumi then go toward me and said.

“You did it… Now let’s go and butcher her.”

“Eh?! Let’s just tie her down. But this girl indeed tries to do some nasty stuff on me. I kinda remind my bib sister earlier. I wanted to rip her body into two.”

“That’s too much… Anyway let just tie her down and save the kids.”

Yumi makes a pouted face and looks away from me.

That’s not going to work on me.

The kids started to wake up and we made the scientist assistant immobilize her by tying her down on ropes.

The moment we are getting ready to go out and head back to Everfloria city.

A special hole appeared on the ceiling. This hole is like the hole that appeared in the Rum town two years ago. Seeing one made my body tremble on fear.

While I was shaking. Yumi held my hands and asked.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah… I just remember something unpleasant.”

From the hole, a young girl wearing a laboratory coat appeared. her body was pale while her hair only reached her shoulder and she's wearing an eye patch.

“I’m back to do my business… Huh? Where is my assistant and who are these kids. You all promise to be my friends right. Why you're all living?”

This girl that appeared must be a scientist.

“We already defeated your assistant we’ll be heading out.”

Yumi said.

“That’s no good… I need to collect magic for my experiments you know. As my friend, you should agree with me. As my friend, you should give your life to me.”

“We never said being friends with you.”

The scientist's face started to become cold after hearing that and looking at Yumi she chanted her magic.

“Jelly magic: Jelly whip!”

The whip slams through Yumi’s body in high speed and then before I knew it all of our body was already covered with jelly substance.

The jelly stuck our body and all of us can’t move.

“My jelly magic sure is very powerful. Don’t worry I won’t be bad to you as long as you do what I wanted. Let's all be friends together okay.”
