“We get that you are Laura’s friend, but trying to kill her is going too far,”
Yumi said and confronted Mayu.
“She is my friend and I loved her so much. That’s why I need to kill her. I need to kill her on my hand before someone else does it.”
“You’re a nut case… Also, you’re a knight from the kingdom. How could you do this horrible thing to the city? You're a ray of light just destroyed the structures around us.”
Taki said.
“It's the state knights order… To kill Ironhead and kill all the monsters in this city. Bring peace is the knight's top priority.”
Mayu replied.
“If that the case then I have no other choice… Sound Skill: Explosion tone!”
Taki cast the skill user her bare hands. By clamming her hand she produces a powerful sound that leads to the explosion. The explosion creates and smokescreen around the three of them.
Yumi runs and carries me wither shoulder. Taki then runs together with us.
I was in disbelief. I can’t believe that Mayu is trying to kill me.
Mayu was crying and very sad inside. She wanted to fulfill the promise she gives to me but that is not happening any longer.
Because right now, Mayu is looking at me as a monster.
Ray of light slices through the smoke and ground.
Yumi runs faster and jumps to the canal and leads the three of us back to the skewers.
Mayu’s body transformed into light and chased us at light speed. She immediately appeared in front of us. She swings her sword attempting to cut Yumi.
“Wind blade!”
I collided my sword on her sword.
Mayu was surprised and put her distance away from me.

Mayu made a sword stand and strikes me consecutively with her sharp point of the sword. Yumi comes to protect me and deflected all the light speed strikes.
“That’s impossible…”
“Nothing is impossible for me if it's for my best friend.”
“Best friend?”
Mayu turned to stare at me.
Is she jealous? I can’t tell but she is looking at me with angry-looking eyes.
Behind Mayu, Taki appeared and with two-piece of a metal stick in her hand, she created a sound on it.
“Sound skill: Paralyzing tone!”
The ringing sound made Mayu stunned for a while. While on that Yumi step forward and deliver a punch. Resulting in Mayu to got buried in the walls on the wall.
“I’m sorry Laura, I know she’s an important friend, but it will hurt me very much if you're killed by her.”
I’m Yumi’s very first friend according to her. And she is willing to do anything for me to be alive. Even though the knight is already accusing me of being a monster.
While Mayu was still unable to move. The three f us runs to the deeper part of the skewers.
While we're on that The mouse monsters appeared and protected us by blocking the way.
With this Mayu will never gonna see us.
The mouse monsters turned on us and nodded “Purrr… Purr…”
Seems like they are grateful to us for helping their master.
“I’m sorry, Nagi is…”
One mouse monster walked toward us and lick our faces. The moment it licks our face. Our body became lighter and our magic and energy were restored.
Looking at the monster that licks my face. I remembered that this monster is the one that I hurt before.

“I never think that there are monsters like this. I always thought that monsters were supposed to be exterminated. This monster looks kind and forgiving.”
Taki muttered as she patted its head.
Nagi is dead and this monster is doing its best to protect this us instead. Seems like they know that the whole island is already under attack by the knights.
“I’m sorry… I can’t do anything to save Nagi… This quest became meaningless.”
I apologized to the mouse monster and hugs it.
“Purr… Purr!”
I can’t understand their language but I can tell from its fierce eyes that I should never give up. It turned its tail to a certain direction.
It’s telling me the way out of the city.
A blade of light cut through the mouse monster's body. Othe monsters made a counter-attack by opening its mouth and breathing a magical laser beam from their mouth.
The mother mouse also appeared and battles Mayu. They all do their best in fighting.
With each attack they made the skewer si getting destroy little by little.
Because of that Mayu was slowed for a moment.
I would like to talk to Mayu, but for now, I think it's not going to happen.
Maybe someday… Someday in the future. Were able to talk to each other and do things like we used to do.
And maybe the dream we both share can still be realized.
I turned my back away from Mayu and turned to the dark tunnel the mouse monster referring to.
To speed thing sup. The three mouse monsters put the tree of us on its back and let us ride them. They all run as fast as they can in the skewers.
In front of us, I can see the light.
We get out from the skewers to the canal connecting to the sea.
“Purr… Purr…”
The mouse looks at my eyes.
Looking back I think there is no way they will be safe from the knights attacking the city. I turned to the mouse and saw the anxious expression on their face.
They seem very scared of the explosions and chaos happening in the city.
“Taki do you still have those capture cards.”
“I still have them in my pocket…”
“It's going to be sad, but this is the only way to save them. At least we need to capture them and secure them in a safe area… At least, I wanted to save his three monsters.”
“Laura…”
Taki took the captured cards and chanted the spellbinding. The body of the monsters became light particles. The light goes to the cards.

I heard a voice calling us.
We turned our heads and saw a woman wearing a tricorn. She was sailing with a small boat. Using wind magic she’s able to speed up the movement of the boat.
“That girl is Chloe.”
Taki said.
“Whos that?”
“She is one of Master Karylls disciples. She is working in the magic department in knight’s order. What is she doing here?”
The girl landed on the ground.
“Taki, Laura, and Yumi… Amster Karyll was very sorry and worried about what just happened. It seems like the quest given to three of you is rather a difficult one.”
“What do you mean?”
“There is miss information about Motorstroke city. A document about Knight Ironhead's fake achievements was revealed to the knight’s order. Also, Knight Ironhead is planning on betraying the kingdom by creating his own kingdom in this city. The kingdom immediately pulls an execution order to stop him once and for all.”
I see the main reason, Mayu is here is to execute Knight Ironhead. She just saw monsters here and move in action killing Nagi the contractor.
“We must hurry… We can’t chat here any further. Let's go back to Everfloria city.”
Staying here further will be dangerous.
We should keep moving.
We ride the boat. Chloe pulled her wand and swings it all around. Wind magical energy lifted the boat in the air.
“Three of you hold tightly.”
We followed her instructions. With her command, the boat moves at extreme speed. With just a few seconds. All I can see is the silhouette of the city known for its mechanical marvels.
I was disappointed in myself and I feel bad.
Meeting Mayu makes me happy, but it made me feel sad knowing what she became right now.
Chains of unfortunate events happened.
Right in these moments, What did I learn? What did I learn?
I don’t know. I’m uncertain. Fighting and not giving up on dreams is what I always believe in.
Now I can feel the agony of Mew. The pain of my dream not happening anymore.
My dream of traveling with Mayu might not happen anymore.

I hug Taki and Yumi who's sitting beside me to hide my crying face. Taki and Yumi look at me with worried eyes.
“I didn’t learn anything…”
“Laura…”
“I’m so arrogant… I thought I can do anything because I’m strong. I’m too optimistic. Now everything feels like crumbling apart.”
“Laura…”
Taki and Yumi hug me tightly.
While riding Chloe’s boat. The three of us fell asleep.
