Chapter 5 Alone Apartment

“Pick the phone girl “ Maya groaned as she frantically re-dialed the number of her best friend,Jackie.
She was chased out of the house and she managed to grab a bag with just few clothes and her worn out snickers and two bags.
She was currently standing in the bus station,waiting for a bus that was heading towards her direction.
She dialed Jackie’s number for the umpteenth time but still yet,she got no reply so she decided to take the bus to her house to confirm if she was home since she tried calling but didn’t get a response.
It took a while and she was already so tired that she sat on the bench placed in the bus station.
She sighed as she raised her head to watch the latest news that was displaying on the small TV in the bus station.
“…After the scandal that went viral this morning,with pictures of Mr Alexander Stone who had a night with his secretary that was released to various media platforms by an unknown or anonymous person,he has refused granting audience to the public for clarification,The reporters are yet to gather informations on the matter at hand…”
Maya snorted as she had lost interest in the news,She didn’t know why she loathed rich guys.
Especially when they do their dirty deeds in secret but act like a knight in front of the camera.
“Liars and snakes” she muttered to herself.
Soon the bus came and she got in,she sat close to the window as she looked out as the landscape faded away.
The sun was still at its peak as it shone.
Maya Kept sighing from time to time as she watched the view outside of the window.
She needed someone to talk to,She needed her best friend,Jackie to pour out her feelings to.
After been chased out,Maya knew she could only rely on her friend who lives in a room apartment alone.
Getting down from the bus,she hailed down a cab that directly took her to the front door of Jackie’s apartment.
It was modest and situated in a decent place,Paying the Taxi driver from the few dollars and cents she managed to save up in her purse,and coupled with the income she earned from her part time work.She dragged her small luggage towards the front door of the apartment.
Jackie’s parents could be considered wealthy enough to allow her live alone and so comfortably,they have been friends since high school days and still remained good friends.
Ding.
Maya ringed the bell and still yet no response,she stretched her neck to see if the kitchen window was opened but everywhere was sealed as if she wasn’t home….
She wasn’t home?
With that thought that streamed into Maya’s head,she immediately fiddled with her purse and dragged out her not- so-good phone and dialed Jackie’s number and this time,it went through.
“Hey Maya” Jackie’s lively tone came from the other end of the phone.
“Jackie I am at your apartment door,where are you? are you home?” Maya immediately questioned as Jackie greeted.
“Oh my! I’m not home at the moment” Jackie gasped a bit in shock “What are you doing at my house,you didn’t call”
“Check your phone dummy” Maya rolled her eyes,she was so exhausted and tired as she pushed her luggage to the side and sat on the stairs at the entrance of the apartment.
She held her forehead while Jackie kept apologizing “I’m so sorry Love,I wasn’t with my phone earlier…You see,my mom got sick and she demanded I come home immediately so I had to rush over,I probably was in the train when you called earlier,I just got home few minutes ago”
“I’m sorry “ she added,really apologetic and Maya sighed “I was disowned and currently stranded with no hope of survival “
A brief silence reigned for a while,Jackie was quiet before she suddenly burst out “What’s the matter with your dad? Has he become evenly blind to see??,how can he do such an amazing act to you!!”
Maya Could detect the sarcasm in Jackie’s tone”Calm down a bit Jackie,take a chill pill okay? I can manage on my own”
“Oh please! You are too calm and you probably would be bullied,had I know about all this earlier,I wouldn’t have bother coming to see this old couples and stay with you “ Jackie grumbled and Maya chuckled.
“It’s no problem jack, You are a good friend and I’m already grateful for that” Maya smiled as she gazed down at her nails.
“Have you called the chipmunk you are dating?” Jackie said with less interest.
“Dickson is not a chipmunk,Jack,I’ve told you several times “ Maya sighed even more,she was tired and wasn’t even ready to start bantering words with jack.
“Exactly,his name states that he’s definitely a son of a d**k”
Maya grinned this time around “what ever you say”
Jackie didn’t say a word but Maya knew her friend was probably snickering while envisioning Dickson’s face.
“You just won’t stop that habit of yours”
Jackie laughed a bit from the other end “I can’t just help it at times” Jackie began serious again before asking Maya “what are we gonna do now?”
Maya smiled at the ‘ we ‘ part and said”WE are going to stay over at Dickson’s place I guess” she made emphasizes on the ‘We ‘
while being sarcastic.
“What? We? That’s just you doing that!” Jackie immediately shouted from the other end and that got Maya cracked up as she burst into a fist of laughter.
“Okay I think that’s enough now,but that’s the only solution at the moment,I’m not going to stay with him for good,remember I have a part time job,I’ll just make it my full time job now and get paid well and leave his house “
“That makes sense but you and I knows that you are a bit happy about the situation “
Maya smirked “The problem is that you know me too well” The two girls laughed at that comment. They both share an amazing bond that surpasses all.
Even when they were a polar opposite in both characters and lifestyle, they still loved themselves as time rolled by.
“Do Not Let That d**k touch you, okay?because we need you to be a virgin for Mr Right!” Jackie said from the other end and Maya rolled her eyes but nevertheless grinned at the remark “Yes ma’am “
“Oh please,cut me the slack” Jack smiled calmly.
