CHAPTER 2

ILYAS UMHMM, my mouth waters. "Do you think she'll come by again?" My eyes won't budge from staring at her body, so well sculpted. Danial, my best friend looks over at the customer looking through the section of the 'Wedding' dresses, not paying us a teeny tiny bit of attention. I try not to let that bother me. "Grow up, Ilyas. She is definitely not into you. And—seriously?" He looks at me in disbelief. "She is shopping a wedding dress. Must I say again, a wedding dress. Don't you think that's a bit too much coincidence she has her heart and body reserved for someone else." "You know the best how to ruin my mood. Do you read them in a 'how-to-put-salt-on-ones-wound' book?" I slap him across the arm, the voice so loud and piercing against the calming silence like an arrow from a bow. "That rhymed. And you couldn't have slapped any harder. And now she is looking here. Bye." He walks over to the elevators, and I grin mockingly at him, watching the doors close in on him. He's just a drama queen. I know that mysterious girl is still on his head he saw at the store. And ugh, much to my irritation, he cannot stop saying 'I am done falling for random girls because I know she is the one.' "Excuse me?" the lady calls out, looking around for the salesgirl. "Sorry, I just happened to urge for a nice, hot cup of tea at the same time you picked out a dress for yourself," I call out loud, abandoning my spot from the sofa and striding in her direction. Nope, the tea definitely wasn't a plan to send the salesgirl away. The lady in red smiles at me. "Oh, that's not a big deal. I just wanted her to take my measurements." "I am very good at it, too." I step closer. She laughs, almost unsure what to do. "I don't think we're on the same page here. And, definitely don't think you get that I am shopping for myself a wedding dress. I hate to spoil it, but maybe that means I am getting married." I place a hand over my chest, faking hurt. "You hit me just at my sore spot, pumpkin. But I can forget that, and we can enjoy a nice cup of tea. I know Shelby won't mind fetching another cup of tea." Everything goes in slow mo. Her hand flies in the air, but since I just mentioned, it slowly moves closer to my face, and strikes with my left cheek. "Keep your dress and your stupid talks to yourself," she roars, pushing the white satin dress against my chest. She storms away, but not before spitting at my feet. "Same old. Same old!" I laugh after her. "Ain't you girls got something new? I am tired of these slaps! They aren't exciting anymore!" Shelby returns with my tea, but I have got no mood to shove it down my throat. How did she even resist my beauty, I wonder. Slipping my hands inside my pockets, I mutter, "If Mr. Danial comes back, offer him this tea. If he doesn't want it, then I don't know, throw it away or something." Why am I being so grumpy? Shelby hasn't done anything wrong. She nods her head quickly, returning back to the elevators. I grab my keys from the coffee table inside my office. I am done for today, and it's not even 9:30 yet. Speaking of which, today I was supposed to hire someone for my PA. But I think Danial can do that for me. I leave my office door unlocked just in case Danial wants to sit there. Walking across the second floor towards the elevators, I cannot help but stop at a white lace dress hung distant from the others. I think out of the collection, this one is my favourite. Modest, decent, elegant. I could only imagine my wife wearing this. Right. That's just for my imagination because I am so not getting married any time soon. Although Mummy differs on that opinion. If it were to her, my little babies would've been roaming around everywhere right now. I trail a finger along it. The elevator 'dings' snapping my attention towards it. I hear Danial before seeing him. I straighten my spine, push back my shoulders, roll up my shirt sleeves further and plaster my game smirk on. Here we go again. The doors to the elevators open. So do the ones to my heart.
