39 The extra thing in the bag with the leftover cake had been a note. A note asking him to go over to Wendy’s place at three the following afternoon. Apparently both Ben and Lauren would be out. Paul had read the note twice, hands shaking and a sick feeling in his stomach. God, is this your answer? Then he’d spent a restless night over-analysing everything.
