Luca’s POV
I feel a presence at the door so slowly turn over to see who it is. It’s the same guy that told Troy that I needed to be fed. He just looks at me and I sense a little bit of sympathy. I tilt my head and raise an eyebrow in a questioning manner. He quickly shakes himself, like coming out of a deep thought.
“Luca, I’ve brought lunch.”
He places it on the floor next to me and I push myself up into a seating position. I look at the food then back to him. I really want to know his name, but I know that he won’t tell me, even if I asked nicely.
“My name is Asher.”
I try to hide the shook in my face, but he is obviously one step ahead of me.
“No, I can’t read your mind, but I wanted you to know my name.” He slowly kneels so he is now at my level. “I know your brother is strong, which makes your pack powerful, and that he will find you both. I feel the deepest regret for my part in the whole thing. I have never laid a finger on you or Etta.”
Asher lets out a big sigh. I can sense the guilt and shame he feels.
“You can’t help which pack you are born into and who your cousins are. But I want you to know that, if things erupt and you need help, I will be there. I’ve had enough of the Lotus Pack and everything they stand for is wrong and outdated.”
He simply stands up and walks to the doorway. He turns around and scans my face for any emotions. I simply nod and he returns my nod before leaving the room.
That whole interaction has left my stunned. The smell of the food provided it enough to bring me out of deep thought. I have finally been supplied with food and drink. A glass of water, tomato soup and a stale bread roll. This tastes like the best meal I’ve ever had in my life but that maybe because I’ve not eaten in 3 weeks.
Eat slowly so not to make yourself sick
How did she know that I was eager and ready to inhale the whole meal within seconds? But she is right. My stomach will have shrunk by a considerable amount. If I eat too fast, I’ll probably bring it all back up and that will definitely not help the situation. I take my time savouring every mouthful, even the stale bread tastes like heaven. Although, it’s a small portion, it’s big enough for my shrunken stomach and I find myself beginning to get full. I only manage to eat half of the meal provided but make myself drink all the water. After all, water is the most important thing that I was given.
Etta, I’ve finished eating. I only managed half of it before feeling full.
I keep myself perfectly still as I let the food digest and to keep the nausea feeling at bay. Maybe I ate too much. I can feel my body trying to fall asleep as my stomach is now finally satisfied but I know I must keep my eyes open and my brain on full alert. The food does seem to have woken my wolf up a little bit. Hopefully, Etta can get these silver bands off my ankles.
Give it 30 minutes to allow your food to properly digest. I don’t want you being sick. As your wolf has been supressed for so long, he will be weak, so you’ll have to jump onto my back.
I instantly relax. Etta has a plan. Even though the details of removing the shackles and getting out of the building aren’t set in stone, she has counted in how weak my wolf will be. I find that my eyes are slowly closing but I’m not worried. Etta said I have half an hour so I can nap in that time.

Etta’s POV
I’m so glad he has eaten. I sense that he feels better already. That should help give him enough energy to jump onto my back. Now I’ve just got to work out how to sneak into Luca’s room and escape. I’m planning on doing the whole pillow trick with bed sheets, so it looks like I’m sleeping and therefore, still in the silver bands. I’ll have to take a change of clothes with me as when I shift into my wolf, my clothes will be ripped to shreds and when I come to shift back to human, I’ll be naked, and I don’t want to do that in front of Luca. I can feel the adrenaline surging through my body as I think of what we are about to attempt but with a glimmer of hope that within an hour, we could be outside and free. I’ve decided to mind link Jaxon to tell him that he is taking too long and that I’m taking things into my own hands. I know he won’t be happy, and he’ll be worried, but I don’t know when I’ll get the chance again. They may never take the silver bands of my ankles again. It’s now or never.
I’m going to keep this short but sweet. You’re taking too long. We have a perfect opportunity to escape in 15 minutes. I’ve been mind linking with Luca and he agrees. It’s now or never. We have formulated a plan. I know you’ll be worried, but I’m going to have to block you out until we are safe. I’ll tell you when that is. I hope we meet. Love, your little wolf.
Now to block him out. It’s for his own good and ours. I can’t get distracted. It’s now or never. We’re either escaping or more harm will come to both of us, but we need to take the chance.
