CHAPTER 4 Fahad had to eat something to gain fortitude. It wasn't easy starving himself for days because of what he called a betrayal. Now was the juncture for us to listen to the real time talk he had for us. "What is that we haven't heard before in history, which got him gripped by such emotion? " As he sipped the last liquid in his malt can, a sigh of relief was what we heard next . "Her name is Rayhana. She is as beautiful as the stars,as gentle as the moon and her blood runs through my heart. " As he began ,we paid pedantic attention to it. Then he continued. " All through my stay on earth, she was the first person to tell me, she liked my intelligence . The story started back when we were young, innocent and emotionless. Yet we carved out the most serious out of our actions. I was just years old at that very time. I and my family members relocated to a new house in D2 Estate . On our arrival, I met with some children of mixed gender who were of the same age with me, playing with toys on a wide space near our rented apartment. Some were wearing tinted blue and some were on mixed colour clothes. The long stares from them made me feel awkward and ignoramus. I was with my parents at that moment. For that, I couldn't speak to anyone of them at that juncture. But surprisingly, just as we move a stone throw away from them ,we heard echoes of a beautiful voice of a young girl who was about my age. "Why is your face like this, come let's play together " she said warmly. My parents looked back and smiled at her in a mood that seemed pitiful. I glared at the face for long. She was super ravishing like rose flowers sprouting during the golden hour. But my innocence didn't make me feel any emotions. Then ,we left without any reply. When I later looked backwards while mom was holding my hands, I saw her watching us with full attention as we departed. This raised my curiosity about why she was so interested in me. But nevertheless we were children. From then ,destiny never coincided our meeting until the 10th day of our arrival. on that very good morning., I was sent by my mom to buy some stuffs down the street. When going playfully, the initial voice same lady sounded from behind me. "Why are you walking alone?" She inquired in low pitch ,walking up to meet me. As a boy from Muslim home, I felt bad and shy, speaking to girls too much, even at young age. I only smiled and never spoke. It was the same girl I saw that day. "Do you remember me from other day" "Ummm, yeah I do . You were staring at us that day" I replied "That's nice. I like you at first sight and wish to protect you. " "Protect me from what ?" I asked curiously " the children here are bullies. They will Try to harm you " " my dad will protect me" "Are you sure?" She asked ,followed with laughter. This was the first conversation we had together during out meet . She later escorted me to where I was going and then, back home. This was when I realised we shared the same apartment. She was my neighbour living with her parents like me. From the short conversation we heard, something kept lingering on my brain. The name she mentioned to be hers. I had never heard such a beautiful name in my entire life. " I am Rayhana" The only thing I seemed to be interested in that day was her name. It was the first impression I got. This never marked the end of our meeting. From that very juncture I and Rayhana became pals. With our conversations to play,to jokes, all were natural flow, emanating from our rapport. With just a short while,I and Rayhana became tied to each other's apron string Even before our parents could know our relationship, we already went far, growing fund of each other. But one fateful day, Rayhana parents tracked me to my house to report to my parents about their children behavioural change. According to them, it was caused by me. When my parents inquired to know, they said their daughter wasn't staying at home anymore. To them, I was the one forcing Rayhana to stay off home and be with me a long day. But they never knew she was the one forcing me to be with her. We two couldn't believe this small issue almost sparked serious problem among our parents. That evening, my dad called me into his room to caution me against meeting the girl again. He went too far in threatening my peace if I ever had my usual rapport with her. The worst person I feared in the world then, was my dad. He was a man of his words, always strict and powerful. I was between the dear devil and the deep sea, not knowing which decision to take for myself. I had to Try to keep off from Rayhana just to ensure I didn't worsen the situation. After a week we stayed disconnected from each other, my heart began to feel guilt. I started missing her company so much. This made me take a rash action. In one quiet night, glittered with sparkling stars and smiling moon,I sneaked out of my room, striving to meet her through her window. Unluckily she was fast asleep. "Rayhana, Rayhana, its me fahad" I whispered to capture her attention. But fluke didn't follow me, she didn't wake up. I decided to write an apology letter for her ,this was kept safe on her window to be seen in the next morning. In the letter I wrote " mummy and daddy will never understand us. Let's not keep ourself apart because of them. Please, sorry for the whole problem, I miss you so much" Early in the morning I wanted to sneak out of the house to meet her again. But mom got me grounded. It was mission failed. I never ever imagined the letter was first read by her mom in the next morning, even before she saw it. Her mom headed straight to report this to my mum later that day with concrete evidence. This time around ,my dad went harsh on me when he was informed about my disobedience to his orders. But this didn't solve any problem. After that day,Rayhana also wrote me a letter. " Let's keep the bond, friend. I never wanted us to break up. I like your smile and your hair and your company as well. So Fahad ,don't border with their jokes" I laughed out loud on seeing this letter.she was so wiser that I could imagine of her. She would tell me on most cases that she used to see me along with her, playing hide and seek in her dreams before I relocated to meet her. That was why she grew interest on me the first day we met out of surprise. After years,I and Rayhana were like two conjoined hearts. Our parents became weary of trying to separate us by all means. We would rather be punished than to not stay together for a day. We communicated through letters and sign languages some times. This diplomacy strengthened us more. As we grew up together, our parents thought we would be separated by life tasks like school or anything. But we kept getting closer to each other. So ,since Islamic tradition allowed betrothed marriage, that was what our parents decided to devise. We were joined under the sun and the moon with our consent. But one day, something bad happened to me. It ached my heart so much after i realised my parents scloded her for being the cause of the terrible accident.
