END OF TRUST ( CHAPTER 9)

APTER 9

The only hope I had was on Rayhana. My wishes were that she shouldn't accept the proposal, no matter how serious the issue might be. But it was a disappointment at last.

When I got out of prison, my parents began to prepare for my admission. They had wanted me to got to the university on time. That had been one of my biggest dream. But My love for Rayhana was the only thing in my brain.

Through out my stay in prison, she didn't come for a visit. When I returned, she cared not for my situation.

I asked my mom if Rayhana had still been around. She gave me a reply that hooked me deep into the heart

" Rayhana is moving on with her life "

It sounded all like a dream . Just for 8 months and she was already moving on. I knew it must be as a result of her parents pressure or Uncle J.K's influence.

I was only interested in seeing Rayhana to verify what she was thinking about me. What later transpired behind my back was the only question I hoped to ask.

My mom also warned me to stay off their door step. It would be so much of a risk for me to go nearer to Rayhana again. But this was what I didn't believe .

She said that uncle J.k had kept malice with them over what I did. He hadn't picked up their calls nor allowed face to face interaction for this whole months . But still he had been coming for frequent visit to Rayhana.

With no hesitation, I immediately stood up to confirm.

I was fully fitted on dark frock, with dark cap on my head. My heart was only leading me to the truth, a curiosity that had stuck my brain for days .

As i stepped out without telling my mom where I was headed, my mind was trying to hinder my moves.

I went straight to Rayhana's house and knocked at the door. It was Rayhana's father that came out.

Immediately as he saw me , he went back inside and closed the door without a reply to my greetings. Although that was contemptuous, but I perpetuated in knocking for a long time.

After a while Rayhana's mom came out to meet me. With her low voice but serious tone she said.

"Stay away from my daughter she doesn't belong to you any more."

" I will only believe you when Rayhana tell me firsthand. "

She snickered loudly..

" your friendship has ended with her ,no doubt. But please, just go focus on your life, find another person good later." She said in mockery.

I didn't know what got into me. Instead of knitting my brows, I was busy laughing uncontrollably. She began to stare at me as if I was a maniac.

"Denying me of the right to see your daughter again is not the problem. I just want to know my present position in her heart. Her answe will determine my next move."

" you are just a damn trash to her now. Thats the truth." She said harshly

Some minutes after, Rayhana's father came out to meet me again.

"We have a talk." He said " come inside "

Together we walked into the house. In There ,I roamed my eyes around hoping to see Rayhana. But she wasn't anywhere to be found around.

"As a man I can feel your pain. But the truth is , Rayhana will not marry you any more. The tie of the betrothed has been broken. I knew your sacrifices for her . You got stabbed because of her, you went to jail because of her. But, life always have different plan for us."

"Where is Rayhana?" I inquired eagerly

" I can't say if she likes you anymore or not. But with everything possible we will try to separate you two in peace. She is surely betrothed to another person whom you know. I hope you should focus in your life now. There are many beautiful ladies than her outside there. Marry as many as possible and live a happy life."

"Where is Rayhana ?" I inquired again seeming uninterested In his advice

"You see,she is older than you in age. That's a clear difference. The life of a man and a woman are different. Ladies need to marry on time to avoid being sinisters. But......."

"Where is Rayhana I asked?" I heckling his speech.

At this point he fled up at me.

" do you think i am a fool to advise you on your own life? You kept asking about her where about when her own father is busy talking to you and you couldn't listen for once. What a shame."

" With due respect, what you are saying doesn't align with what I want to hear. Please let me talk to her and that is all" I calmly explained

"Get out of my house and never return."

"This isn't a joking matter sir. I am not forcing you against your will. You have your daughter and can dictate who to marry her or not. But remember, the prophet of Allah never said you should do this . The genuine consent of your daughter must be sought."

"That doesn't matter at all to me. Just get out of my house " he yelled out

As I rose on my feet , I smirked broadly

" if life wants us to end up like this Rayhana, so shall it be." I commented and immediately left .

Later in the evening, I received a letter from Rayhana through a young girl. I tried knowing her whereabout, but the child left in a hurry and couldn't wait to tell me. I tried tracking her, but she was faster than her shadow.

As I opened the later I saw a writing that amazed me. It said

" oh great Fahad, I loved you and wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I had always cherished you. But now, I have to do something to hurt you to the utmost .

I don't know how to tell you this. But let's not meet again till I am ready to give you an answer to your question. This is a secret i will tell you. Seeing me is very risky to your life right now and i don't want anything to happen to you.

We used to play in the night ,looking at the moon together. I will always remember you wherever I see the moon 🌙. And anytime you miss me, the moon is always there for you. Please don't try to look for me ,you will never find me. And burn this letter after reading it"

This was the last letter I received from her.

After that, It had been up to a whole year we last met or contacted each other. I later succeeded with my admission to school, waiting patiently for an answer I would never get. I had to think about Rayhana at all times, both day and night 🌙.

"What would be her answers to me? Would she accept to come back to fahad or still, break the tie with me for uncle J.K?
