Second Chance : A Rare Opportunity

Chapter 11

Sophia

I am sitting in my class attending a lecture of my favourite subject. But am I able to concentrate, no I don’t think so.

For past whole week I have been distracted all the time. The last words he said to me in the theatre room, keep repeating in my mind every now and then.

Does he really like me? But why?

We have just met and not a single interaction between us was romantic or capable enough to make someone start having feeling for other.

He and his friends bullied me, I mean tried to bully me. I beat his friends up, because of me he got hurt. I don’t know which of these incidents made him like me.

I don’t understand.

But he was true to his words after we were together in the theatre room, he never crossed paths with me. He never came to pick me up. My eyes search him everyday as soon as I get out of my dorm building.

He never disturbed me in the cafeteria like he was doing a week before. He would always come sit and eat with me on my table and disturb my alone time with myself. He has stopped doing it.

I don’t feel his stares on me while sitting in the class. In past I had even caught him staring at me in the classroom but he never used to look away even after getting caught.

He just used to stare and stare without breaking the eye contact. And at last I used to be the one to look away.

Are you missing him? My mind asked. I shook the thoughts away and again tried to pay attention to the topic teacher was discussing, but what?

Lecture is over already. Teacher is going out of the class. I again spaced out thinking about him.

Sarah came running to me and asked, “Are you okay? You look shocked”.

“I am good, let’s go” I said trying to act normal.

“Yeah, yeah, I know you won’t say. Why do I even bother asking?” she said and got up from the chair. She is a nice girl and good friend. She always figures out whenever I am lying.

I don’t know how.

“Okay I’ll tell you later” saying this I started walking in the direction of cafeteria. She smiled and followed me. She is my only friend here in this huge campus.

“Do you know where is Daniel? It’s been a whole week, I haven’t seen him. I know he comes to college but I haven’t seen him attending any classes or in cafeteria” she said.

I am also thinking about the same thing in my mind. Is he missing classes in order to avoid me?

On that day he saw me and Landon talking after all the classes were over. But he walked past us as he doesn’t know us. As if nothing happened earlier in the theatre room.

No I didn't go anywhere with Landon.

At least for last past week no one came to trouble me or pick fights with me for no reason. The rumours about Daniel and me also died down.

There is no problem and I should be happy that he is not here. But still my eyes are searching for him. My heart wants to see him.

Sarah shook my shoulder when we reached the door of the cafeteria and asked, “I am asking you something. Do you know where is he?”

“No I don’t” I replied and entered inside. We took our food and made ourselves comfortable on the table in the corner away from people’s eyes.

I looked in the direction of the table in the center hoping to see him sitting there with his friends but he was not here. Only his friends were sitting there.

We got ourselves busy in our conversation about studies and other girls stuff like shopping, cooking etc. I might not act like a girl while fighting but I am a girl.

I like shopping and all those stuff girls like. We were so lost in our own conversation that I didn’t notice people making their way towards us.

I felt something wet falling on my head when Sarah gasped in fear. It’s ice cold water. I chuckled humourlessly. I looked up and saw Jack and Landon standing in front of me.

Two of his friends are standing beside me and one of them poured water on my head. They pushed Sarah away and I said, “Let her go and we will talk”.

They chuckled and said, “That’s actually what we want”.

I gestured Sarah to go and stand away from us. She didn’t want to go but she listened when I said, “I’ll be okay, you trust me right?”.

She nodded her head and went away and stood at some distance. They made themselves comfortable on the chairs in front of me.

Other two guys were still standing on both sides of me. I pushed my wet hair away from my face and stared into their eyes.

“Oohhh…. I am scared” Landon said and others started laughing.

The whole cafeteria was silent and was watching the show. They all must be entertained as this college is like a underground boxing ring where people fight every once in a while.

Jack said, “You know what Sophia, the person because of whom you roam around so freely in this whole campus like a tigress is not here to come and save you”.

Daniel didn’t come to college today but I heard he came. I came out of my thoughts when Landon said, “He was never here for the past whole week”.

What does he mean now?

“Yeah right? But I heard a rumour that he comes here everyday but no one saw him” Jack said looking in the direction of Daniel’s friend.

I also looked in their direction and they were looking worried. What’s going on?

“I heard that Daniel told his friends to spread the rumour that he is present here in the college so that we don’t mess with her. I found out that he went on a business trip with his father a week ago” Landon replied to Jack.

“What a timing to find such a big news! Now we will check what can this sexy tigress do without her tiger” Jack asked.

“What do you guys want from me huh? Can’t you leave me alone?” I asked.

“Leave you alone? Are we stupid? This is once in a lifetime opportunity to find such a big weakness of Daniel. How can we let it go?” Landon said touching my hand on the table.

I shoved his hand away. Steve and Mark came running our way and Steve said, “Leave her alone. You know what Daniel will do if he finds out that you were bullying her”.

“We know he will go crazy. And that’s what we want. We will make sure to cause a lot of damage before he comes. Let’s see who is going to be more tormented then” Jack said.

What’s wrong with these guys? Why do they hate Daniel so much?

And did he really told his friends to spread that rumour in order to protect me from these a**holes?

Mark walked towards me and said, “Let’s get out of here. Daniel told us to protect you”.

So it’s true. They are really watching over me and I thought he was avoiding me. A feeling of warmness covered my heart.

I got up from the chair to get away from here and ask his friends about, what is all this?

But the guys standing besides me strode towards Steve and Mark and punched them on their faces and pushed them away.

They tried to get up but out of nowhere two more boys came and held them in their places.

“Leave them” I shouted getting up from the chair but they didn’t listen to me. I don’t like it when someone gets hurt because of me.

I tried walking in their direction and the two guys who were standing besides me held me by my shoulders and twisted my arms behind my back.

“Oh so fierce, I love it” Landon exclaimed coming towards me and I was ready to show him stars during day time.

But Jack said, “Watch out buddy, she likes kicking”. Landon smirked and said, “Don’t worry man, my guys are skilled”.

And before I could realize what he meant both the guys holding me put their one feet on top of mine and now I was not in a position to move even if I wanted to.

They caught me off guard and now I am in trouble because if these guys are going to hold me like this then I won’t be able to protect myself.

I tried struggling to get myself free but they were too strong.

Landon stood in front of me and said, “tsk tsk…. Don’t try so hard darling, you’ll not be able to free yourself”.

I smirked and said, “Of course I know it. But what can I do, I am not a loser like you guys to give up so easily. I will try to save myself till the moment I can”.

“Losers, you said? Who looks like a loser in this situation to you?” Jack said walking towards us.

“Ask those who are watching the show. Who looks loser in their eyes? Me who is standing alone but still fearless in front of you or you two who have come with the team of four well built men to tackle one single girl” I said.

The loud echo was heard in the silent room and I felt a burning sensation on my left cheek. Landon slapped me.

The impact was so hard that I tasted blood in my mouth. I looked up to glare in his eyes. “You know you are so sexy and anyone would like to have you at least once but there is one flaw in you”.

“And that is, you talk a lot” he said.

“But I talk facts” I said smirking victoriously.

He grabbed my hairs and pulled my face closer towards his. Our faces were only an inch away making me feel disgusted.

“I want to see what is it apart from your beautiful face and fierce mouth, that made Daniel fall head over heels for you” he said.

I was about to reply but my words got stuck in my throat when I felt his other hand sliding down from my neck towards my breast.

My eyes widened and I again tried struggling but he smirked this time and said, “Now we are getting scared finally”.

“Keep your filthy hands away from her you bastard” Mark shouted but got punched on his face.

Steve asked, “Have you tried calling Daniel, Becky?”

Becky replied, “His phone is off”. One of Jack’s friend who tried to hit me with the chair on that day snatched the phones out of Brittany and Becky’s hand.

They really are trying to save me.

“See, his friends are behaving like this to see you in danger. Then how he is going to feel when he will see you all damaged because of him” Jack said.

“You are thinking too much guys. He was just nice to me because of one challenge between us” I said but I know now that it isn’t truth.

“Really?” Landon said burying his face in the crook of my neck. I tried moving away but I am in a really difficult situation right now.

He bit me on my neck and I screamed, not because of pain but out of disgust.

After sucking and biting on my skin for a while he pulled away. I was glaring at him with tear filled eyes. These are the tears of anger.

“You taste good by the way. Let’s see if you matter to him or not. Let’s see what is it that you are hiding under these clothes.

My eyes widened upon realizing what he meant but it was too late. He ripped my shirt off of my body in a second.

People present in the room gasped and I was stunned, not able to move at all.

“Damn, you are sexy as hell” Landon commented but this was not his voice that I was hearing at this moment. My mind was playing the same words in someone else’s voice. The words which haunt me everyday.

I came out of my shock when I felt him stroking my waist and stomach with his hands. I looked around and found people staring at my half naked body.

I was only in my bra and Jeans. I saw that Jack was recording me in his phone. I felt helpless for the first time.

My eyes started searching for someone who can help me and save me from this situation.

Daniel’s friends were struggling to free themselves and Sarah was also trying to get herself free from one of Jack’s friend. I don’t know how many people he brought with him.

Brittany and Becky were also cornered by the person who took their phones. And others were just watching the scene unfold.

Landon spoke, “I am liking this fear in your eyes more than your fierceness. And I am getting turned on because of you right now”

“Would you mind if I take you right now right here?” he said caressing my cheeks. I tried head bumping him but he again grabbed my hairs stopping me.

“You really don’t give up right. If it was any other girl, she would be begging by now” Jack commented while recording.

“Well even if you mind, I will take you against your will” Landon said holding me by my waist.

His hands started sliding up slowly towards my back. And goosebumps appeared on my skin due to fear.

My breathing stopped when his hands reached the hook of my bra and a lone tear left from my eye. I closed my eyes praying for someone to come.

A loud growl was heard along with a chair breaking sound. I opened my eyes to look in the direction of cafeteria door and my eyes met his angry green ones.

And all my fear went away in a second because I knew that now I am safe.
