Not Breaking

Chapter # 3

Jenna closed her eyes shut and George stopped, he was a little shocked. George stared at her face for a few seconds and thought. Why is this girl forcing me to do something that I don't want? I don't like it! What games is she playing? He lowered his hand and threw the ruler away, sighing. "You wanted to get hit, but I don't do anything that I hate the most." He told her sternly. Jenna opened her eyes and looked at him amused, "To hit a girl?"

"To argue with anyone, and yeah, mostly fight." She rolled her eyes off, "Huh, but after all I'm going to have punishment, what'll happen if you cancel it? It's your decision not to hit me, now are you going to let me go like this?" She sneered. "You.. why don't you write it down a hundred times?" He asked. "Umm, No." She said plainly. "What is the issue with you? Do you like giving yourself pain?" He said, slightly irritated. "And by writing that a hundred times won't gonna hurt me, right?" Jenna argued. George got frustrated and suddenly grabbed her hand firmly, making Jenna wince.

"So I guess," he took a pause, "You'll get less hurt by writing that, that is why." Jenna kept silent and after a second he said again, "Why do you want to give yourself more pain?" He said sharply. Jenna again didn't answer and he let go of her hand. Jenna turned to him and scowled. "I don't want to give myself 'any' pain, I just don't wanna write!"

"You know what? You are getting on my nerves." He said, putting both his hands on his waist. "I don't care." She said, crossing her arms at her chest and looking the other way. George kept looking, staring at her for a few seconds, then said strictly, "Come with me to the principal's office." Then turned to the other girls, "And you three, don't leave this room until you finish your punishment."

George took Jenna to the principal's office. "Sir, I couldn't give her any punishment. Could you give her one instead?" George asked him politely. "What? You can't give her a punishment? What kind of teacher are you?" He asked with a chuckle. "Sir, please, can you do it for me? That would be easier for me."

"Okay, okay, first can you tell me what exactly she has done?" George looked at her and said, "There's actually nothing to tell sir, she is literally getting on my nerves." The Principal again chuckled. "Really? That's what she did?" George looked at him and started to say. "She and another girl in the class were fighting like cats and dogs, and didn't think about the teacher or where they were standing." The principal nodded and said, "Oh, so didn't you punish the other girl?"

"I did,"

"Then why-"

"Give any punishment to her, I have to go to class too." George said quickly, "Look George, her complaints have come to me before too, and currently, I can't give her any punishment but we should call that teacher in her class. I'm sure he could tell us an easier way than what can be done. For now, let her go-"

"But, sir-"

"Just ask your teacher and let him decide, he will tell you better than me. Don't worry."

"Alright, Thank you Sir." He responded with a sigh and turned to her. "Come on, let's go." Jenna walked out of the office with an empty expression. George also went after her. "Don't try to think that you are safe now."

"Who would think that? If you wanted to punish me that much, then you just would've killed me." She said emptily while walking. "I will not waste any more time on you. Your teacher will tell you now." He said and left. "Hmph." After class, George went to the staff room looking for Jenna's class teacher but he couldn't find him. He waited for school to end and again went to see him and that teacher was just about to leave the room, when George called him. "Hello, excuse me Sir?" He said politely, coming in.

"Oh, hello, you are that new biology teacher who joined recently, right?" The teacher said, stopping. "Yeah.. um, I wanted to talk to you about something." George asked, "Yeah, go ahead." he said, offering him to sit. George and the teacher both sat down then George said. "Um, it's about your student, who, um, her name-"

"Jenna. Jenna Martin, right?"

"Actually, I don't really know her name, so I'm not sure." George said. "Think carefully, the only one in the whole class who made you extremely furious with her behaviour, is Jenna. And what? You should've known her name at least." George was not too surprised after hearing this. Then he asked. "Um, yeah, I guess you are right, she is what you said. But, how do you know?" The Teacher made a disappointed face, "Mostly every teacher comes with a lot of complaints." he sighed. "Oh.. "

After a while the teacher showed him all the forms and test papers of Jenna showing him a picture of their student which they were talking about. "Oh yes, you were right about her, it's her. Jenna." After seeing the picture, George is now confirmed that he is talking about her. "Yeah, mostly every teacher is unhappy with her behaviour. They don't even get what punishment to give her."

After a silence he spoke again, "Hey, look, the principal told me that you have always been good at teaching, and I think too that you'll be good for our school, of course, not for a long time.." He trailed off. "Yes, I'll try my best. I personally love doing this job and after that I will not get a chance either. But now I assure you," George said with a smile. "I'm sure you will, that's good." He nodded, then continued. "But with this, I have a request for you." He said a bit hesitantly. "Sure Sir, tell me."

"Exams are near.. And Jenna will take any punishment but we are not sure if she will study.." he trailed off. "I don't understand, Sir." George asked, confused. "Will you teach her private lessons? After school? Anywhere?"

"What?"

"This would be a great punishment for her to receive private tuition for the preparation of exams, only until exams."

"Sir, isn't there any other punishment we can give her?"

"Unfortunately, no. But remember, if you're busy enough and if there is any other reason, then it's okay." he assured him, but. "No, I'm free after school these days, and you are a great teacher, so I will surely accept your request and give her tuition. This will be a punishment for her, but, after all, it is right, you can leave everything to me," George said with a smile. "Hmm, you are a very smart and excellent person, and I hope you will do an excellent job too." He praised him. "All will be thanks to you." George grinned. "Okay, so, where will you teach after school? In class or will you ask her first?" He asked. "Before that, we need to tell her first." George suggested that first. "Exactly.. You know what, tomorrow I'll talk to her and her mom, who is a teacher here too." Teacher grinned. "Okay Sir, thank you."

"Oh no, thanks to you for doing something that I'm asking you to do.. I know that's not right. Everything for just giving her a proper punishment, I know you think it's too much, right?"

"Um, I don't think so Sir, I have seen her behaviour. I think she deserves this. If something which will provide her with a good amount of education and learning will reach her like this, why not?"
