Chapter Seven

-Alex’s POV- “Alexander, you will forget everything you saw here. You will not speak a word of this to anyone. If you obey me, then I will allow you to live and be with Anya in secret. Do you understand what I’m saying?” The Alpha’s voice boomed through Anya’s cell. I was silent for a moment, realizing what he was proposing. “Yes, Alpha. I understand. Thank you for sparing my life.” Without another word, I headed out of Anya’s cell and began walking toward the packhouse. I was about to leave the dungeons when I froze in place, hearing a bloodcurdling scream coming from the cell I had just left. What was the Alpha doing to her?! I quickly walked back, staying in the shadows, hoping that the Alpha would be too preoccupied with Anya to notice my scent. I finally made it back to her cell and what I saw before me made me see red. The Alpha had thrown Anya into one of her cell walls and was continuing to beat her into submission. She was begging for death, hoping to be put out of her misery. I couldn’t even imagine the pain she was in, taking a beating from an Alpha, considering she was still human. Anya was falling in and out of consciousness and didn’t have the strength to protest as he started to violate her. I ran from the cell, anger boiling in my veins, and the sudden realization that Anya was telling the truth hit me like a freight train. I rammed through my front door, practically breaking it from the hinges, and began pacing around my townhome. What was I going to do?! I loved Anya, but it wasn’t like some low-level Omega was hurting her. It was the f*****g Alpha, of all people! His words rang through my head again and again. Forget what I saw, and I could have her too? I knew that if I went against the Alpha, I would be sentenced to death for treason, and that wasn’t something I could afford to let happen. There was nothing I could do about the Alpha’s actions, past and present, and I knew that if I turned a blind eye, then I would be able to savor Anya’s delicious taste. My mouth began to water just thinking about it. Would I hate myself afterward? Probably, but that didn’t stop me from getting what I wanted. Anya will be mine, and once she is, I’ll find a way to dispose of the disgusting wolf I call an Alpha.   -Anya’s POV- My body felt as though it was weightless, and the pain that ran rampant through me was no longer there. My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself back in my apartment. I looked around, realizing everything was covered with a layer of dust, as though I hadn’t lived here in years and no one else moved in after me. What was going on? I got out of my bed and walked around the apartment. Many things had been broken, books thrown out of place, and furniture destroyed into oblivion. There was crime scene tape everywhere and broken glass all over the place.   What in the world could have happened here? Did Damien cause all this destruction when he abducted me? I looked around the room again, noticing all the broken glass again. No, Damien wouldn’t have done this when he kidnapped me; there was no reason for all this destruction. I could barely put up a fight before, and it looked like World War 3 took place in my apartment. I decided to leave the apartment and walked outside, shocked by the cool autumn air that invaded my senses.   The leaves were many shades of reds, oranges, and yellows, giving the allusion of a sunset in the trees. I walked down the street, feeling as if I was floating along the sidewalk, and found myself in front of the bar I used to work at with Missy and Alex. I was shocked to see that the building was closed and for sale signs littered the front, along with wooden boards covering up some of the windows.   I felt someone’s presence and looked to my right. I saw three men looking at me, and my jaw dropped when I got a better look at them. They had to be identical triplets, but something about them was different. They all had to be six feet tall and were completely ripped, their muscles bulging from their shirts. They walked towards me, a look of relief flooding their features, and embraced me, their hands trailing along my body. They acted as if we knew each other, as if we had a connection?   Before I could ask them who they were, they suddenly disappeared into thin air. That’s when I saw him. I gasped and took a step back, earning a step forward from him. He looked human, but the only thing I could think of was his striking resemblance to Anubis, the God of Death. He extended his hand out to me, wanting me to go with him.   I felt this strange sense of connection with him, but something also told me that he was dangerous. I didn’t want to go to him, but my body betrayed me, forcing me to accept his offer. The moment I touched his skin, his eyes went black, and he pulled me against his body, making me realize he was significantly larger than the triplets I had just met. His arms wrapped themselves around me, creating a cage as one of his hands trailed up my spine, and I felt his fingers intertwining with my hair, grabbing a fistful and pulling my head to the side, exposing my neck.   Rage filled his eyes for a split second, and before I could find out why, he bit the spot at the base of my neck, causing me to scream in agony. I felt my vision turn black, my body trembling underneath him, and I felt an agonizing tug of war in my body. I didn’t understand what this feeling was or why I was feeling it, but it felt as if I was losing a piece of myself, such an essential part of me. If I lost this tug of war within myself, I knew that the person I was now would be lost forever.
